Chapter Twenty-Eight
"Now?!" Corvus exclaimed in shock. The shiny Leafeon nodded his head grimly. "Yes, now. We must hurry! They've already slain six Eeveelutions!"
Corvus glanced over at Fae who nodded. Then, together, the two take off into the trees leaving the berries behind.
Ahead, Fae noticed Fergus taking on two Pokémon twice his size with ease. It appeared to have been an ambush. There was double the amount of Pokémon—double the amount of Fennekin, Braixen, and Delphox. They had been ready as they were backed by Rockruff, Lycanroc, Yamper, and Boltund with more coming their way.
About twenty Eeveelutions were trying to shield themselves and the young teenager Eevee within the group as the Boltund constantly shot Thunders, Electro Balls, and Sparks at the group. Most of the Eevee were screaming as they themselves tried to avoid many attacks from the Yamper. The Yamper seemed oblivious to the hurting of the group as they kept on attacking with Nuzzles and Bites.
"We are getting massacred! Let's get into the fight, Fae. Be careful, these guys are ruthless!" With that, Corvus ran into the midst of the battle and startled a pair of shiny Rockruff twins with a powerful Weather Ball attack. Fae didn't know Weather Ball, but it looked like a cool move.
Was that what Eon meant by Egg Move? Now that she thought about it, Corvus never told her much about himself. Anything was possible after all! She never did see him hang much around any certain Eevee or Eeveelution, so she didn't know if he had any parents around.
However, she was sure his mother was some kind of Eevee or Eeveelution based on how genetics worked. Now at least she knew he knew Weather Ball.
But what Pokémon could learn Weather Ball? Certainly not Fae or any other Eevee. Could an Eeveelution learn Weather Ball? Could Espeon learn it?
Fae shrugged. She shouldn't even be wasting her thoughts on this. They were in the middle of a battle!
Fae jumped into action, barely dodging a Flameflower-and-Spark combo coming from a pair of shiny Fennekin and Shiny Yamper duo. She could barely tell this pupper was any different from the rest. She just appeared pink.
The shiny Fennekin growled as Fae dodged the attack. "Ugh, more annoyances." She growled as she puffed out a Smokescreen that Fae quickly dodges. "You Eevee are all so annoying!"
Fae rolled her eyes. Who pooped in your ice cream? She wondered as she used Quick Attack to catch the shiny off guard.
"How dare you!!" The Fennekin roared as she fired off a quick Ember that was miscalculated. It ended up hitting an innocent Quaxly nearby.
The timid water type quickly waddled away with tears in his eyes. "All you village 'Mon are mean!" He cried as he tried to find shelter in a bush nearby. The bush quickly got set on fire by a shiny Braixen and for a second Fae felt bad for the poor thing.
He was just standing there with a sad face. Then he screamed and started ranting about calling a lawyer for some reason.
All around her Fae could hear the desperate sounds of fighting. At some point more Eeveelutions came. It was never enough, however. The bodies of Eevee and Eeveelutions alike fell as well as many Yamper and Lycanroc.
It was a bloodbath. Literally. Blood was pooling everywhere and the cries of many Pokémon followed.
The sounds collided harshly against Fae's ears. She folded them back, trying to ignore the cries of agony and pain, finding it next to impossible to ignore such things.
She couldn't even believe she was joining in the chaos, using Bite to end a poor Yamper's life. The Yamper let out a squeal as someone from within the battlefield called his name in sorrow.
This wasn't even her war! Why was she getting involved?!
I am a peaceful Pokémon! I shouldn't be going to war! I wanted adventure, not this!
Fae's eyes widened in horror as the shiny Leafeon from earlier fell in a pool of his own blood. He only twitched for a second before lying stiff. He had a huge gash on his stomach. Fae didn't even want to go into the details of his entrails.
Fae felt bile rising in her throat. She did her best to keep it down, but it just kept coming back up.
Eventually, Fae heard the shrieking finally stop, and a loud voice among them shouted, "Fennekin Tribe, retreat!" The groups of dog-like Pokemon within the midst all lifted their heads before running away—most of them sported injuries or had blood running from their jaws and claws.
Did we...win? Fae wondered in disgust and shock. It surely didn't feel like any good victory that's for sure. The bodies of many Eevee and Eeveelution lay around her. Some were so young! What kind of victory requires such stupid sacrifice?!
Fae panted, swallowing the bile she had coming from her throat. Despite the bloodbath, she had come out with only a few scratches.
She was lucky—however, she didn't feel lucky. She felt cursed seeing all that. And who would collect the bodies?
Fae shuddered. So this is what they wanted? More Eeveelutions and Eevee to fight their damn war for them? This was Fae's first battle, but she felt angry for getting involved.
She didn't even understand for the most part why this Fennekin Tribe wanted the Eevee Village gone! There would still be plenty, and this wasn't even the most popular one.
Fae felt a paw lightly tap on her shoulder. She spun around, feeling anger rise up as high as the body count around her. She was met with the face of Corvus. He seemed nervous.
"Uhm, hey. Sorry about that... little distraction." He began. He was acting like this whole battle hadn't happened. He was supporting a couple scratches on his face, and there was a deeper one that cut into both his ears. They would scar over.
Fae's anger rose and rose until she couldn't take it. "Little distraction?!" She roared.
Corvus shied away from her.
"It's a war!" She exclaimed in horror. The Eevee before her glanced away. "Yeah," he responded dejectedly. "This was your first battle, huh. Glad you made it out." He remarked, obviously changing the subject.
Genuine concern also laced his voice as he spoke. While Fae was glad for his concern, she just hated how he belittled the situation.
"Glad I made it out? What about your friends? Your family?" She asked him in anger.
The younger Eevee looked away. "My family? They're not my real family, Fae. My friends? Sure. But you have to get used to this situation, Fae. Wars happen all the time. Im sorry you're caught up in the middle of this one, but we need your help to win this—and we won." Corvus remarked with a smile.
"Yeah, but at what cost? Some of your friends are dead." Fae remarked shakily. She didn't like this war.
Corvus sighed. "I know, Fae. War isn't easy. Look, we can talk later once we've finished burying our fallen friends. You obviously need a little time to yourself. I get it. First battles can be hard, but you'll do just fine." Corvus tried to assure. It was like he was speaking from a script.
Fae frowned. She wasn't sure about that. However, he did try to make her feel better...even if it did feel like it could come from a script.
Maybe it would get better?
Fae sighed. She wasn't sure if it would get better. Maybe there was some way to fix all this? Fae wasn't sure. Surely it wasn't that simple to fix a war, could it?
She could always try to help. However she would probably have to talk the Fennekin Tribe in order to do anything.
Could she really solve a whole clan's problem just by talking things out? Surely there must be some issues in their past that made them like this? Fae wasn't sure.
She had mostly ignored Corvus' history lessons, only listening if she wanted to or if she was bored enough.
"I guess so," she remarked, not pressing anything further.
Together, the Eevee and eeveelution group picked up their dead. There had been a few unconscious Eeveelutions here and there, but most were dead.
I have to do something about this. This may not be my fight, but I can't stand to see innocent Pokémon suffer over a trifle so long ago.
"Hey, Fae? Can we talk?" Corvus asked as they walked back, Fae carrying an injured Flareon while Corvus had two dead bodies on his shoulder he was struggling to carry.
"Sure!"

The Lynx sat there, watching. He was thinking deeply about her. The strange shiny Eevee had wounds all over her. He could ambush her, however her friends were there. He couldn't win against hundreds—no thousands of Pokémon.
He grinned as his red eyes gleamed with calm. He would get her and that stupid Umbreon brother of hers. The master required it, and yet there was a problem: he didn't want to do this.
That was not the only problem, however. The Darkrai was on his tail. He had ordered him to come with him and help him destroy the two relatives. Well, destroy Eon.
The Luxray sighed as he watched the two Eevee walk back towards the village. He had plenty of opportunity to catch them and bring them to his master. He, however, enjoyed watching the younger Eevee and Umbreon as they helped this village.
I wonder if there's something I can do to help. That Eevee seems to fear me, so maybe I can.... Hmm...I don't know, but I can give it a try.
The Luxray stood up, satisfied with what he needed to do. Kidnapping can wait, after all.

Author's Note: When the Luxray has a warped sense of what to do. Lol.
Anyways thanks for reading! This stories getting pretty close to 300, which I think is the goal for the end of this book. Or was it 400? I can't remember.
Either way, thanks to everyone who's read this this far and I hope you enjoyed this.
