Chapter Twenty-Six

The gang all ran inside as a big snowstorm hit the area. They sheltered where the red road split, finding a bush that would shelter most of the snow.

Then the five Pokémon continued on their way with Eon's obnoxious singing following them everywhere they go. It didn't help Fergus joined in at one point and they sung the same song for hours on end.

Eventually, they reached a town and stopped when an Eevee approached them. "Welcome," the Eevee greeted them with a smile on his face. His gaze turned towards Fae. "Are you guys travelers?" He asked, eyes never leaving Fae's once.

Eon nodded. "We are our searching for adventure." He informed the Eevee casually. The eevee's eyes widened in shock.

"Oh my, well you're in luck here. We have plenty of adventure over here. Come with me!" The Eevee benevolently ordered as he started back towards a red colored bush. Fae exchanged glances with Fergus.

Where was this stranger about to take them? She didn't understand what kind of adventure they could be taking with this Eevee, but they still followed him.

Fae felt the brush tear at her white fur. Should they really be randomly trusting such a Pokémon? Well, they got this far. Might as well follow him to see what kind of 'adventure' he was talking about.

The five Eevee-related Pokémon followed the Eevee towards a really cool village. There was a yellow path as a main road within the village, and modern technology didn't seem to exist here yet.

The Eevee in front of them waved at a very pretty light brown Eevee who just giggled back at him. More Eevee and Eeveelutions started waving at the Eevee, greeting him by his name and saying hello.

"Hello, Corvus!"

The male Eevee they were following only nodded curtly in return. He continued his way towards a tent, dipping his head towards the Sylveon and Flareon in front of the tent. The two Eeveelutions were guarding the tent in front of them.

"Greetings Xavier, Eros." Corvus greeted the two, nodding his head in order of who he was speaking to. It was especially helpful since he nodded towards the Flareon first and then the Sylveon.

The two Eeveelutions were both male, and they both took their jobs serious enough.

"Good day, Corvus. Who are these strange Eeveelutions and shiny Eevee?" Eros wondered, nodding his head towards their guests.

Corvus chuckled as he awkwardly rubbed the back of his head. "Oh them? They're looking for an adventure, and I thought they could be of use to us." The Eevee suggested with a brilliant smile on his face.

Xavier sighed, although he seemed to be calmer than Eros who was excited at the prospect. "Of use to us? Look, our problems aren't outsiders problems. If they want an adventure, here isn't where they'll find it."

The Eevee was slightly disappointed. "But when are we ever going to get help? This war—" Corvus started before Eros lifted a paw. "This war is not theirs to join. We don't want to be rash and bring unqualified Pokémon into the battlefield." The Sylveon informed him, dipping a respectful head towards the group. "Not that you aren't qualified. It's just these Pokémon are really crafty."

"None taken. What war are you guys going on about?" Eon remarked with a curious expression—however he also had a look of concern.

Xavier put a paw against his face and rubbed. "Well, it's really none of your concern. We'd rather not get Pokémon we don't know into the heat of the battle. It's really just something you should stay out of." The Flareon informed.

He then smiled mischievously. "Although, I do gotta say having more Eeveelutions and Eevee in this village would do us some good. What do you say? We can offer you the adventure you need somehow, I am sure. Meanwhile, I'm sure Corvus here would love to hang out with your shiny Eevee pal."

Everyone glanced over at Corvus. Fae just noticed he had been watching her curiously. It was a weird thing. Having someone else's attention on you who was the same species as you was kind of weird. Plus Fae found it slightly creepy. Does Corvus like her? They just met!

Eon seemingly smirked as well. "Are you offering us protection?" He questioned. The Flareon smirked back. "Only if you offer it back." He responded. What in Arceus' good name was everyone on about?

"Alright, but only if you can offer the adventure Fae here so deserves. What do you have in this village that we can do?" Eon asked Xavier.

Xavier opened his jaw to say something, but Eros interrupted before he could start. "Well, we obviously have some schools here for the younger Pokemon—although, it looks like none of you really need to go to school anymore." Eros remarked.

Xavier shoved a paw in front of the Sylveon's face. "How old are you guys?" The Flareon burst out as he glared at the other guard-like Pokemon. Eros glared back at him, sticking out his tongue.

"Oh? Well, I'm twenty-seven, Neri—the other Umbreon—is nineteen, Fergus I assume is also nineteen perhaps eighteen, Fae is....old—older than 30 that is, and Mauve I believe is sixteen. Although I am unsure about Mauve's age." Eon remarked as he pointed at everyone individually.

Fae rolled her eyes. "Yeah. I'm in my mid Thirties. Thirty six to be exact, but I don't feel it." She explained.

"Oh, wow. You don't look over thirty. You look like a kid—no offense." Xavier remarked with his eyes widened in slight shock.

Fae wasn't insulted. She got that a lot. Especially from some of the younger members who asked her why she didn't evolve yet. She didn't feel like evolving. Maybe keeping her Eevee form made her seem more kiddish? Or perhaps it was her personality that set off that implication. Either way, Fae wouldn't let that stop her.

"Besides school, what else do you have?" Mauve wondered. Eros smiled. "Oh, we have a lot of things to do. We have a hunting team, although I'm not sure if you outsiders even know how to do such things anymore." The Sylveon remarked.

He was right. They had no idea how hunting worked.

"Well, it's never too late to try something new," Fergus responded as his tail curled around Neri's. Eros looked over at them with a smile. He seemed to understand they were mates. "Yeah!" The Sylveon remarked. "It's never too late. You guys are welcome to stay as long as you want."

"Thank you, but do you really have enough room for us? While it was kind for Corvus to let us come here, I don't know if you'll have enough room for us. Are you sure you can allow us to stay?" Fergus wondered as he wheeled himself forward.

Corvus nodded. "I'll make sure the elders agree to let you in. I know we just met, but I have a good feeling about you guys." The Eevee remarked as he grinned at them in a friendly way. He then looked at his village community. "After all, I'm sure we would all like this war to be stopped. You all seem like nice Eeveel and Eeevelutions. You will help, won't you?"

The star eyed Eevee glanced at them with his ears down. Was he trying to manipulate them? It worked.

"Of course we will, right guys? We wouldn't leave a whole community of Pokémon just to die out, right?" Eon asked them. "Of course we wouldn't!" Neri responded with horror in her eyes. "We will do something about that."

"Wonderful. Now come with me. I'll show you to our elders. I have a very good feeling about the future of my village now thanks to you." Corvus commented with a glance at Fae.

Fae frowned. Just what kind of good feeling did this Eevee have?

Corvus indicated with his tail to follow him inside the tent. Fae's ears flattened. What was to be expected once they got inside? What kind of strange secluded village was this? It wasn't the one of the legends. The ones that housed the Eevee Faith and so many more Eevee who could stay Eevee without being permanently unable to devolve. So what kind of village was this?

Something inside her told her that there was more than one Eevee village out there. There might be dozens by this point.

Fae's eyes widened in realization. Her family had went inside. She dashed inside, pushing past the strange grassy coverings that covered the entrance to the tent. What a weird way to house Pokémon.

As Far entered, she saw an orange and red Eevee sitting while a dark brown Eevee was standing. They were all obviously older than anyone else there. These must be the elder Eevee Corvus was speaking of.

"Good, you're here too. Now, what do you say, Elders? Can we please allow them stay? At least until they help us win this war? I promised them I would give their cool shiny Eevee friend an adventure, and I would like them to stay." Corvus begged, on his knees.

The elder Eevee glanced at one another. "Hrm, we don't know about them Corvus. We don't know them." The red one started as she glanced over at Eon with a weirded out look. He had been eating dirt off the walls—which was really weird no matter who was looking at it.

"But I do suppose we could allow them in seeing they pull their weight and they prove themselves." The Orange one remarked with a kind smile on his face. The dark brown one just nodded in agreement. "Yeah! Can any of them cook?!"

The red and orange Eevee facepalmed.

"Anyways, they can stay for now. We'll allow it." The dark brown Eevee confirmed with a wave of his paw. It was as if he was trying to make them forget what he just said.

Fae laughed nervously. What had they just gotten themselves into? War and whatever this weird village was up to, that's for sure. Fae didn't know if she liked it, but this Village did set off some bad vibes—she was sure Eon would notice it as well.

Too bad he was too busy licking the floor.
