Agent Fowler
Optimus POV
The new energon mine was a blessing. It would supply us with the much-needed resources to sustain the team for quite some time, but there was an underlying problem brewing. Storm, the predacon we had taken in, had been growing at an astonishing rate. Her size and appetite had only become more intense, and lately, her behavior had been... different. Storm had grown increasingly clingy, wanting to accompany us on every mission, even attempting to open the ground bridge by herself one time.
It was getting to the point where Ratchet had to make modifications to the base to "storm-proof" it. The last thing we needed was for her to accidentally tear the base apart, or worse, wander into an area she wasn't supposed to be.
With Storm's presence becoming more of a logistical challenge, I decided it was time to discuss relocating. We could no longer operate out of this small base with a predacon growing at such a rapid pace. I requested that Agent Fowler come to the base for a discussion. It was going to be a delicate matter, especially with the increasing urgency of our situation.
To make sure the meeting went smoothly, I ordered Bumblebee to take Storm to storage before Fowler arrived. The last thing we needed was a chaotic first impression—Storm had a tendency to cause quite a ruckus when she was left to her own devices.
"Optimus, Agent Fowler is on his way," Arcee announced from the comms, her voice steady as she tracked the flight path on her screen.
"Bumblebee, take Storm to storage until I send for you," I instructed.
Bumblebee nodded, though I could see the apprehension on his face. Storm had grown more attached to me lately, and her new attachment to me would likely make things... difficult.
"I wonder how long Bumblebee can keep her there before she hunts you down, Optimus," Cliffjumper chuckled, no doubt amused by the situation. I groaned in response, knowing I was in for an inevitable chase soon enough. I'd have to quickly explain everything to Fowler before the base turned into a whirlwind of chaos.
The human lift echoed through the base. When the doors opened, Agent Fowler stormed in, his expression one of irritation.
"This better be important," he grumbled, "I had a conference with the military."
I met his gaze with a steady, serious expression. "We need to relocate this base to something much larger. We've recently acquired a new member, and her presence is... growing."
"And I'm just hearing about this now?" Fowler snapped, his tone filled with disbelief. "We agreed that with all incoming vessels, I'd be informed."
"She didn't land here," Arcee interjected, her annoyance clear.
Fowler paused for a moment, eyeing Arcee with suspicion. "Is that so? She's been on this planet for so long and only just joined the team? Sounds suspicious to me."
Before I could address his concern, there was a loud crash. The unmistakable sound of Bumblebee's frustrated beeping filled the air, followed by a rapid whir of movement.
"Beep beep whur!" Bumblebee called out as he desperately tried to keep Storm from causing further chaos.
And then, she burst through the door. Storm's predacon form, now significantly larger than before, charged in with the speed and energy of a small hurricane. She leapt straight at me, her claws trying to climb up my leg, but to no avail. Storm paused momentarily, sniffing the air as her optics shifted toward Agent Fowler. The two of them froze, locked in a tense standoff.
"Storm, no!" I called, but it was too late. The predacon sniffed the air again, her nostrils flaring as she circled Fowler, inspecting him as though he were something foreign. Her behavior was erratic but not entirely hostile—though I could tell she wasn't sure what to make of him yet.
"Agent Fowler, this is Storm Chaser," I began, my voice steady as I held Storm back gently.
Before I could explain further, Storm rushed forward again, her body practically vibrating with curiosity. She sniffed Fowler, getting a better read of him. He looked down at her, cautiously avoiding any sudden movements. The predacon was slightly shorter in height than Fowler, but her body was much longer, her claws lightly scraping against the floor as she circled him.
"That is not an Autobot," Fowler spoke softly, a tone of disbelief in his voice. He backed up just a step, and I could sense the tension rising.
Storm didn't seem to like the unfamiliar scent Fowler was giving off, and she hissed at him. Her body language shifted, the muscles along her neck bristling as small metallic scales began to protrude, a defensive gesture that gave a clear warning.
"Storm, no," I warned more firmly, but she didn't listen. She seemed to take offense at the human's presence, her optics narrowing dangerously.
"She must not like the chemical you spray over yourself," Bulkhead said with a chuckle, watching the scene unfold from the corner.
Fowler glared at him. "What is that? Please, don't tell me you decided to make a pet out of this thing."
"No, she is not a pet," I said, my voice firm. I stepped forward, securing Storm in my arms. "She hatched from an egg discovered in a Decepticon energon mine."
Fowler looked at me, incredulous. "And you're just telling me this now?" His voice was rising. "How do we know it isn't sending information to the Decepticons?"
Storm growled low in warning, her body stiffening once again. She was clearly agitated by Fowler's suspicion.
"Because the Decepticons didn't know what they were dealing with," I explained, my tone serious. "They only sent drones to retrieve it. If they had known what they found, they would have sent more dangerous and experienced Decepticons to secure the egg. I'm confident they have no idea what it is, which is why she wasn't taken immediately."
Fowler paused for a moment, processing my words. "You're only just telling me this now?" he repeated, clearly frustrated. "What do you need from me?"
"The predacon is growing at an alarming rate," I said, my voice filled with urgency. "We can no longer keep operating out of this base. We need more space, and we need to relocate before she becomes a bigger danger. If the Decepticons knew about her existence, they would try to capture her and turn her into a weapon."
Fowler exhaled sharply, running a hand over his face in frustration. "What do you think, hidden bases just appear out of thin air? (groans) Fine, I'll look around and ask. But you owe me for this, Optimus," he grumbled, turning back toward the elevator.
As Fowler entered the elevator, Storm suddenly leapt out of my arms.
"Storm!" I yelled, but she was already gliding toward Fowler, landing lightly a few feet away. The agent turned to face her, stepping back slowly, unsure of how to handle the predacon's unpredictable behavior.
Before I could intervene, Storm lowered her helm to Fowler's hand, rubbing her face against it, a surprising gesture of affection—or perhaps curiosity. After a moment, she backed away, her optics still fixed on the human, and then she ran back toward storage with Bumblebee hot on her tail.
Fowler stiffened as Storm left, his eyes wide with a mix of unease and disbelief.
"She's unpredictable, Optimus. Watch her carefully," he said, stepping into the elevator. The doors closed, and he was gone, leaving the base in an uneasy silence.
"That went well," Bulkhead joked, though his tone was anything but lighthearted.
"Optimus, I hate to say it, but that predacon is unpredictable," Arcee said, her voice cautious. "She seems to understand everything going on around her too much for my liking."
Cliffjumper nudged her with a chuckle. "Give the little hellion a chance," he said, his grin broad as the tension eased.
BOOM!
The sharp, explosive sound of something crashing echoed through the base, followed by an unmistakable series of whirrs and beeps.
"STORM! NO FIREBALLS INSIDE THE BASE!" Ratchet's voice thundered as he stormed toward the storage room. "I swear, if you do that again, I will weld your mouth shut!"
A loud crash followed by a squeal of distress erupted from the storage room. Then came Ratchet's voice again, this time louder and more exasperated: "I NEEDED THAT!"
I groaned in frustration, knowing that I would have to deal with yet another of Storm's latest antics.
I rubbed my helm in exasperation and made my way toward the chaos. "This is going to be a long day."
