Chapter 39
I want to know you're out there,
I need to know you're safe over here,
I will be hunting your enemies,
Letting them know they can't escape my rage,
Give me all that you have,
All your darkest desires and impulses,
I will receive everything you want to give me,
And if,
You want me to be,
I can be your shadow for eternity.
Jungkook's words were both possessive and protective, filled with fierce determination and unwavering loyalty.
"I want to know you're out there," he said, his voice rough with emotion. "I need to know you're safe over here."
His words were a declaration of his commitment to protect and keep you safe, no matter what. And then his words turned fierce and intense.
"I will hunt down your enemies, and make them know the consequences of their actions. Let me show you the lengths I will go to protect what is mine."
"Yours?" The words could barely leave your mouth.
"But.. why? Why are you going to such lengths for me? I don't deserve you, Kookie."
Jungkook's eyes were fierce as he looked into yours, his voice strong and steady. "Yours," he said firmly, his grip on your waist tightening.
You tried to protest, questioning why he was going to such extremes for you, but he cut you off, his words sharp and fierce. "You don't deserve me?" he repeated, his voice filled with disbelief. "Nonsense. You deserve every bit of loyalty and devotion I offer."
"I am afraid. What if we keep repeating the same mistakes? I can't, I won't survive that once again.
Please... Let me go. Forget me. Forget everything about us. Let it be in the past."
Your words were filled with fear and heartbreak, your voice trembling as you tried to push him away.
But Jungkook refused to let go, his grip on you tightening even further. "No," he said firmly. "I won't let you go. I refuse to forget everything about us. I can't simply put it in the past."
Hoseok was doing his best to keep your friend Mara entertained, but he couldn't shake the feeling of worry and unease that coursed through him. He knew all too well the intensity of Jungkook's feelings for you, and he couldn't help but fear what Jungkook might do to you in his current state of mind.
"What is happening with Jungkook and Yn?" Mara barely said it as a whisper.
She was growing increasingly uneasy, sensing the tension in the room. She could tell that there was a complicated history between you and Jungkook that she was unaware of, and it was clear that the situation was far more complicated than she had realized.
"I suppose they have some things to sort out.."
Hoseok could see that the situation was getting out of hand, and he knew that he had to take charge before things escalatad. He quickly took out his phone and dialed Jungkook's number, hoping to intervene and diffuse the tension before it boiled over.
Jungkook felt a wave of annoyance wash over him as his phone rang, interrupting his moment with you. He grumbled as he looked at the caller ID, seeing Hoseok's name flashing on the screen.
Jungkook answered the call, his voice clipped and brusque.
"What is it?" he snapped, clearly irritated at the interruption.
Hoseok's tone was both concerned and authoritative.
"What is going on with you and Yn?" he asked, his voice firm and demanding.
Jungkook's response was gruff and defensive.
"None of your business," he replied gruffly. "It's none of your damn business what I'm doing with Yn."
Hoseok was determined to get to the bottom of the situation.
"It very much is my business," he insisted. "You're clearly not acting rationally, and I refuse to let you do something stupid."
Jungkook's anger flared at Hoseok's words.
"You have no right to tell me what to do," he snapped. "Yn is none of your concern."
Hoseok was growing increasingly irritated with Jungkook's stubbornness.
"None of my concern? Are you kidding me?" he said, his voice rising. "Yn is my friend, and I refuse to let you drag her into your mess again."
Jungkook finally relented, his defenses crumbling in the face of Hoseok's implacable words.
"Fine," he grumbled. "What do you want?"
Hoseok's tone was firm and authoritative, brooking no argument.
"Come back upstairs," he said, his voice leaving no room for doubt. "Let the girls have their meat."
Jungkook was initially reluctant, but he could tell that Hoseok was serious. He nodded sharply. "Fine," he grumbled. "But I'm not happy about it."
Jungkook gripped your hand tightly as he led you back into the restaurant, his touch both possessive and gentle.
"Let's have your meal," he said, his voice firm yet tender.
You felt a mix of emotions as he led you inside, your heart racing at the touch of his hand on yours.
"But Mara, she is not aware of anything. Please don't ruin my friendship, Jungkook."
Jungkook's face softened as he registered your plea, and he nodded in understanding.
"Don't worry," he said, his voice quieter now, calmer. "I won't ruin your friendship."
He knew that your friendship with Mara was important to you, and he was determined to respect that, regardless of his own feelings.
"Thank you." You clasped his hand even tighter. "I mean it."
Your words touched him, filling his heart with a mix of emotions - love, gratitude, and guilt. He felt the strength of your grip on his hand, and he couldn't help but tighten his own grip in response.
As you and Jungkook returned to the table, Hoseok and Mara could immediately sense something was amiss. They could see the remnants of your tears on your face and the dark, intense expression on Jungkook's face.
They knew that something serious had occurred, and they braced themselves for whatever might come next.
"Don't underestimate the things I could do for you. I won't let you have it your way." Jungkook growls as he sits next to you.
His voice was firm, his words tinged with a hint of possessive determination.
Your heart skipped a beat at his words, the intensity in his voice both thrilling and slightly unnerving. You knew that he was fiercely protective and possessive, and you could sense that he was willing to do whatever it took to keep you close to him.
Hoseok watched the scene unfold before him, listening intently to Jungkook's words and your reaction. He could see the fire in Jungkook's eyes and the determination in his voice, and he couldn't help but feel a mixture of concern and wariness. He knew that Jungkook was a man of action and that he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted, and he worried about the lengths that Jungkook might go to in order to catch you once again in his claws.
"Any recommendations on what we should order?" Mara asked, a hint of levity in her tone.
Her interruption broke the tension in the air, and her quick thinking spared you from a potentially uncomfortable situation.
You appreciated her ability to read the room and diffuse the situation, and you felt even more grateful for her presence in this moment.
Hoseok flashed his black card, which was a statement of his wealth, and a show of his desire to treat you and Mara to the best.
"Let me order the best for us," he said, his expression a mix of confidence and generosity. "My treat."
You couldn't help but laugh softly as you watched Hoseok. His confidence and generosity were a familiar sight, and it brought back memories of better times. You missed this - the familiarity, the warmth, the friendship. You felt a pang of nostalgia and a sense of wistfulness wash over you.
Jungkook let out a breath of relief as he saw the smile on your face, his own tension easing a bit.
"We shall eat everything, hyung!" he echoed, his voice lighter now that the atmosphere had calmed down.
Hoseok went all out and ordered everything on the menu. The range of dishes was impressive, and it was clear that he was intent on treating you and Mara to a truly extravagant feast.
As the dishes kept coming, Mara couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of food that Hoseok had ordered.
"We can't eat all of this!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with a mixture of surprise and horror.
You let out a giggle as you playfully slapped Jungkook's shoulder, playfully calling him out on his notorious eating habits.
"You don't have to worry," you said to Mara. "Jungkook can and will eat everything by himself."
Hobi felt a sense of satisfaction as he watched the atmosphere in the room lighten. The conversation was now more playful and relaxed, and he couldn't help but feel relieved that the tension between you and Jungkook had dissipated and replaced with smiles and banter .
"Only the best for my lady," he whispered.
Hoseok's words, intended for your ears only, did not escape Jungkook's notice. He heard the subtle but affectionate endearment and couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Although he tried to keep his expression neutral, a hint of possessiveness flickered across his face.
You knew that Jungkook was close to his limit, his possessiveness threatening to bubble to the surface at any moment. Knowing this, you quickly grabbed his thigh under the table, giving him a gentle but firm squeeze in a silent plea for him to control himself.
"Don't," you said, your voice quieter but just as insistent. "Don't make a scene."
Despite his frustration and anger, Jungkook managed to hold back and control his emotions. He placed his hand on top of yours, feeling the warmth of your touch beneath him.
"I won't," he repeated, his voice lower and huskier.
Mara couldn't help but notice the subtle interplay of emotions between you and Jungkook, the tension and undercurrents that ran deep beneath your interaction. She could sense the complexity of your relationship, and the weight of history that hung heavy between you two.
She was perceptive and knew that the situation between you and Jungkook was none of her business. She was wise enough to know that you would tell her everything in good time, and that it wasn't her place to pry or interfere.
Mara decided to shift the focus of the conversation away from you and Jungkook, sensing that the topic was touchy. Instead, she directed her attention to Hoseok, asking about the remaining days he had before he had to return to the military.
"How many days are left until you're back in the military?" she inquired with an air of nonchalance, seeking to change the subject.
Hoseok replied as he munched on his food, his words slightly muffled by the food in his mouth.
"Two days left," he mumbled through his mouthful of food. "Only two days left before we have to go back."
Jungkook's grip tightened on your hand, his fingers squeezing yours as he listened to the conversation between Hoseok and Mara. The reminder of the two days left before they had to return to the military only heightened the tension and unease that he felt.
As the conversation continued, the reminder that both Hoseok and Jungkook would have to return to the military cast a dark shadow over the room. The two of them had limited time left before their military duties resumed.
"How are the others doing? Are they fine? Accommodating?"
As you asked about the others - Namjoon, in particular - your words were filled with a mix of desire to know how they were doing and also a hint of pain. Your eyes sparkled with a glimmer of hope and a lingering ache, your heart yearning for news of the people you cared about.
Hoseok was quick to reply to your question, his words coming out in a gentle and reassuring tone.
"They're doing well," he said, his voice calm and steady. "Namjoon and the rest of the guys are all doing fine."
"I'm glad. Thank you.." Despite your best efforts to hold it together, your emotions got the better of you, and a single tear rolled down your cheek, betraying the wave of feelings that flowed through you. You tried to compose yourself, picking up some food and forcing yourself to take a bite.
"Maybe you need some fresh water?"
Jungkook, noticing your teary eyes and the wave of emotions that washed over you, suddenly rose from his seat. He didn't say a word, but his intentions were clear - he was heading over to the bar to get you some water.
Mara, sitting next to you, couldn't help but comment on Jungkook's unnecessary trip to the bar.
"But we have water on the table..." she murmured, puzzled by his action. It was true - there was a pitcher of water on the table, and there was no reason for Jungkook to go all the way to the bar.
You watched as Jungkook headed towards the bar, his movements a mix of purpose and agitation. You could sense that his feelings were a jumbled mess, and he needed a moment away from the table to collect himself and gain some composure.
Jungkook's frustration boiled over as he punched the wooden bar table, the force of his blow sending a jolt through the wood.
"Only two days left," he muttered to himself, his voice tinged with desperation. "And I can lose her forever."
The thought of losing you was unbearable, and he was grappling with how to keep you by his side in Seoul.
Jungkook's anger had now turned into a fierce determination. He was determined to give you a reason to stay in Seoul, with him.
"This can't happen," he muttered to himself, his knuckles whitening as he clenched his fists tightly. "I need to give her a reason to stay here, with me."
Hobi noticed Jungkook's abrupt exit and sensed his emotional turmoil. After a moment of hesitation, he decided to follow Jungkook, hoping to provide some support or guidance.
With a concerned expression, Hoseok made his way toward the bar, walking quietly and observing the frustrated Jungkook.
Hoseok's words were firm and imploring, a plea for restraint and consideration.
"Don't make a mess once again," Hoseok said, his voice steady but carrying a hint of warning. "She finally healed."
Jungkook's emotions were a tangled mess of pain and desperation, and he turned to Hoseok, his pain and frustration pouring out in his words.
"But what about me, hyung?" he implored, his voice raw with emotion. "What about how I feel? I've never forgotten her, not even once!"
Hoseok had a look of frustration on his face as he responded to Jungkook's outburst.
"Jungkook, goddamn it," he mumbled under his breath, his tone filled with frustration and concern.
"This is more complicated than before."
