Chapter 40
Hoseok leaned against the bar, deep in thought as he pondered the situation. Time was not on their side, and he knew that quick thinking was necessary to find a solution. Hoseok's brow furrowed in concentration, his mind racing as he tried to come up with a viable plan.
His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts as he considered different options, trying to come up with a plan that could work under the limited time frame. He knew that the situation was complex and fraught with challenges, but he was determined to find a solution that could satisfy both parties.
Hoseok's mind finally settled on an idea that seemed like it could possibly work. It wasn't a perfect solution, but it had a chance of success, and he felt confident that it was worth a shot. With a renewed sense of purpose, Hoseok straightened up, his eyes gleaming with determination.
Hoseok approached Jungkook and, with a serious expression on his face, began laying out his plan. He patiently explained the details, outlining the key elements and outlining potential risks. As he spoke, Hoseok observed Jungkook's reaction, watchful for any signs of agreement or disagreement.
He took a deep breath before outlining the specifics of his plan, making sure to include all the important details.
"Okay, listen up," he began, making sure to have Jungkook's full attention. "First, we need to create an opportunity for you and Yn to spend some extended time together."
Jungkook was taken aback by Hoseok's statement, his eyes widening in surprise at the unexpected suggestion.
"What? How?" he asked, confused and a bit skeptical about the idea.
Hoseok explained his plan in detail, outlining how they could create a situation that would allow you and Jungkook to spend substantial time together. He talked about the need for a convincing reason or circumstance that would be compelling enough for you to agree and be convinced that staying in Seoul for longer was necessary. Hoseok also noted the importance of making the excuse as sincere and as genuine as possible to avoid your suspicion.
"Will Yn be swayed by this?" Jungook had doubts, but no better ideas.
Hoseok nodded, acknowledging the valid doubt in Jungkook's voice, but he responded with confidence.
"I believe so," he replied, his tone firm yet considerate. "It's a challenging situation, but I think this could work if executed properly. We just need to make sure the excuse is believable enough to convince her."
"What excuse can we use, hyung?"
Hoseok's gaze flickered with determination as he shared his idea with Jungkook.
"I was thinking," he began, his voice steady and confident, "that maybe we could use a job offer as an excuse."
"That's brilliant! You're the best!!"
A smile crossed Hoseok's face at Jungkook's enthusiastic reaction.
"I know," he replied with a hint of satisfaction, amused by Jungkook's enthusiastic response. "It's a good plan, right?"
"The best one! Thank you, Hobi hyung!" And Jungkook embraced him.
Hoseok let out a soft laugh, feeling the sincerity in Jungkook's gratitude. He patted him on the back, acknowledging his appreciation.
"No problem, Jungkook," Hoseok responded, his voice warm and supportive. "I'm here to help."
Still his tone was firm and authoritative, emphasizing the importance of avoiding force and involving the mafia.
"You have to promise me something, Jungkook," Hoseok said, his gaze fixed heavily on him. "Don't force her, and for the love of god, no mafia thugs involved. If this doesn't work out, that's the end of it."
Jungkook nodded in agreement, his expression serious.
"I promise," he replied, his voice firm and resolute. "No force, no mafia involvement. If it doesn't work, that's it. I understand."
"For the love of... You better keep the promise." And they grabbed four cocktails and went back to your table.
Hoseok and Jungkook each carried two cocktails in their hands, their steps steady and confident as they made their way back to the table. As they approached, they set the drinks down, and Hoseok took his seat next to you, his gaze flickering towards you.
"Hoseok? What's this?" You giggle.
Hoseok flashed a charming smile, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Oh, just a little something to liven up the night," he replied, his voice smooth as he slid one of the cocktails towards you. "A treat from me."
"Thank you. I trust they are delicious," and you took a sip from a glass, licking your lips. "The best indeed."
Hoseok watched with satisfaction as you took a sip and complimented the taste. A smirk played on his lips, pleased with your reaction.
"Told you they were the best," he said, a hint of pride in his voice. "Only the finest for you."
You gave him a soft glance, expressing gratitude.
"I know Jungkook is much to handle. But thank you for the help."
Hoseok chuckled softly, acknowledging the challenges that came with dealing with Jungkook.
"Yeah, Jungkook can be quite a handful," he admitted. "But you're welcome for the help. I'm here for you."
"I wish I could say the same." You shifted in your chair. "But I won't be here for long, Hobi."
Hoseok's expression turned more serious, sensing your comment and its implications.
"You won't be here long..." he repeated, his voice quieter now, as if acknowledging the gravity of your words.
"Yeah. I can't. I'm not ready for this."
Hoseok's expression softened, his eyes full of empathy.
"I understand," he replied gently. "If you're not ready, that's okay. It's important to take things at your own pace."
"You know I won't be able to, if Jungkook won't understand, which he definitely won't."
Hoseok sighed softly, acknowledging the challenging nature of the situation.
"I know it won't be easy," he mused thoughtfully. "Jungkook can be quite...intense, and convincing him won't be a simple task."
"I don't have to convince him, Hobi. Each of us has a new life now. A better and brighter one..", your eyes felt itchy.
Hoseok's gaze flickered as he noticed the subtle change in your expression, sensing the underlying emotion behind your words.
"You're right," he conceded, his voice filled with a mix of understanding and empathy. "We've each carved our own paths, pursuing our own lives. It's not about convincing anymore; it's about understanding and accepting our separate journeys."
"Could you help me make him understand?" You grabbed his hand slowly.
Hoseok's expression softened as you reached out and grabbed his hand, his heart filled with empathy for you.
"Of course, I'll do my best to help you make him understand," he promised, his voice solemn and sincere. "I'll be here to support you."
Jungkook's frustration and jealousy were palpable as he sat across from Mara, struggling to focus on their conversation. His gaze kept drifting towards you and Hoseok, his expression darkened with a mix of jealousy and possessive intensity.
Mara discreetly observed the situation unfolding beside her, not missing the tense and possessive atmosphere radiating off Jungkook. She couldn't help but notice the way he kept stealing glances at you and Hoseok, his possessive gaze fixed upon the two of you.
Sensing Jungkook's discomfort and possessive gaze, Mara decided to divert his attention. She pulled out her phone and began scrolling through pictures, eventually finding a few that featured you and her together. With a mischievous glint in her eye, she slyly held the phone in front of Jungkook, drawing his attention to the images.
As Jungkook stared at the pictures Mara had shown him, a mix of emotions washed over him. Seeing your smile, so genuine and unfamiliar to him, stirred a wave of regret and longing in his heart. It was a smile he had not seen directed at him in a long time, and it felt unfamiliar yet deeply touching.
"I should let her go, right?" Jungkook's voice was filled with a mixture of sadness and resignation.
"Yeah..." he replied, his words tinged with a hint of bitterness. "You should let her go. She has a life now, and it doesn't involve me anymore."
Mara's heart skipped a beat as she absorbed Jungkook's words. She felt a pang of heartache and sympathy. The weight of the situation weighed heavily upon her, and she couldn't help but be moved by the bittersweet sentiments he shared.
"I think it may be the best. But I am not sure. I have no idea what Yn is feeling." Jungkook was wondering.
Mara nodded, recognizing the uncertainty in Jungkook's words. She acknowledged that she didn't have all the answers, especially when it came to your feelings.
"I know.." Jungkook's gaze remained locked on the pictures, unable to tear his eyes away from the images of your smile. The photos seemed to capture a side of you that he had never truly seen, a side filled with joy and contentment.
Hoseok too, observed the shift in Jungkook's demeanor. It was clear that the images were stirring up a whirlwind of emotions within him, and Hoseok couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for his friend.
Hoseok's voice was calm as he took the phone away from Jungkook, his expression tinged with curiosity and concern.
"What are you looking at?" he inquired, his gaze briefly flickering towards the screen.
Hoseok's eyes widened as he caught a glimpse of the expression on your face in the picture, a look that he had never seen before. It was a mixture of joy and contentment, a side of you that he had never witnessed.
Hoseok's words were filled with a mix of caution and urgency.
"Jungkook, we need to stick to the plan," he said firmly, his voice edged with a hint of warning.
"Hyung? I don't think we should..."
Hoseok could see the hesitation and turmoil in Jungkook's eyes, sensing his conflicting thoughts. The plan they had meticulously crafted was at risk of crumbling due to Jungkook's emotional state.
He knew that Jungkook's reluctance posed a risk to the plan they had carefully laid out. With a firm tone, he replied, "You have to, Jungkook. We must follow the plan."
"What plan?" You came and hugged Hoseok from the back.
His body stiffened momentarily as he felt your arms wrap tightly around him, surprised by your unexpected hug. He wasn't used to such displays of affection from you, but he couldn't deny the slight comfort it brought him despite his focus on the plan.
Hoseok found himself speechless, momentarily caught off guard by your sudden show of affection. The plan and the tension of the situation momentarily dissipated as he stood there, your arms wrapped around him. He couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and closeness in that embrace, despite the circumstances.
"I.. I meant.." his gaze shifted towards Jungkook, silently seeking assistance in the unexpected situation. His eyes met Jungkook's briefly, conveying his momentary confusion and seeking some kind of guidance or support from his friend.
Jungkook's expression was caught in a dilemma. He was torn between his own desires and the weight of the plan they had all agreed upon. His gaze shifted between you and Hoseok, his conflicting emotions evident in his eyes.
Hoseok's quick thinking led him to a new idea, an offer to you and Mara for job positions. He posed the question with a glimmer of hope in his eyes, "We could have a job offer for you and Mara. Interested?"
Your hands squished him
"Job? Are you fucking insane, Hoseok?"
Hoseok felt a shiver run down his spine as your words, tinged with surprise and disbelief, were delivered close to his ear. The proximity of your lips to his skin, coupled with the scent of your fragrance, created an intimate and electrifying atmosphere. He found himself momentarily distracted, his senses overwhelmed by your presence.
Hoseok's words were barely audible, a quiet affirmation that sounded more like a question. "Job...yes...for you both" he mumbled, his eyes flickering towards Jungkook, seeking some support and validation for the on-the-spot offer.
Mara's voice echoed through the room, her words filled with assertiveness and defiance. She refused the job offer, asserting, "We don't need a job! We came here for my birthday and to relax! No more work!"
A gentle smile graced your lips as you agreed with Mara's words. Your hands loosen their grip around Hoseok, and you release him, gently freeing him from the warmth of your embrace.
Hoseok's heart skipped a beat as you leaned in dangerously close, your voice dropping to a whisper that sent a wave of anticipation and excitement coursing through him. He found himself utterly entranced
Your words carried a plea and a subtle hint of temptation, and his mind reeled with the implications of your request.
"A BTS party for my friend," you murmured, "she is an army. The whole team. What do you say?"
Hoseok's response was swift and decisive, his words filled with an eagerness to please and acquiesce to your request. "Yes, I will make that happen," he replied without hesitation, his gaze locked onto yours.
You found yourself surprised and taken aback by his immediate and enthusiastic response. Your eyes locked with his, and in a quiet request, you asked, "Your phone?"
He watched quietly as you took his phone and swiftly saved your number, his gaze fixated on your every move. The action felt oddly intimate, like a silent exchange of trust and a connection formed through this small exchange. He couldn't help but wonder what significance this moment held for both of you.
You smiled slyly as you placed the phone back in Hoseok's hand, your eyes still locked onto his. "Text me so I can give you the date of her birthday," you said, your words carrying a hint of anticipation. Hoseok felt a rush of excitement and trepidation at your request, a mix of emotions that mirrored the uncertainty and allure of the moment.
His words were firm and resolute, his determination and desire to fulfill your request clear in his eyes. "I will," he repeated, his voice steady and his expression resolute. The promise hung in the air, a silent commitment to carry out your request and make your friend's birthday wishes come true.
Jungkook quickly seized Hoseok's phone, his eyes immediately fixated on the number that belonged to you as he muttered, "What about me?" His gaze remained locked on the digits, a mix of longing and desperation etched across his face.
You swiftly took charge, capturing your friend Mara's hand in yours and making a quick departure from the restaurant. Before leaving, you swiftly added, "You can also save my number. Text me."
The sudden exit left an air of tension behind, with Hoseok and a confused Jungkook left behind, processing the whirlwind of emotions that had just unfolded.
"What? Yn?!! Jungkook yelled after you.
Hoseok's hand instinctively reached out and grasped Jungkook's arm, preventing him from immediately following after you. His grip was firm and his voice stern.
"No," Hoseok asserted, his words filled with conviction. "Not now."
Jungkook's frustration boiled over, his voice filled with desperation and urgency.
"Hyung?! She is leaving us!" he exclaimed. Hoseok calmly maintained his grip on Jungkook's arm, trying to rein in his friend's impulsive tendencies.
