Chapter Nine

Liveos paced around the castle. Asadior hadn't reported to him. And he did not want to tap into someone else's mind again. Waking down to his room, he grabbed a book off of the dusty and cobweby shelves. It was a book that held all the shadow's names.

He went to the T section, as he opened it, more names appeared as the pages continued to appear. Twilight's name was never inscripted, but she was indeed a shadow.

Grabbing another book, he dusted it off and was opening it up to the T section, again not finding anything. He was flipping to the front to close it when a name caught his attention.

Dawn.

Inscription; goes by the name Twilight. Assassin, tried to kill the king, neither good not bad. Died by falling off a cliff. Neutral.

Liveos grunted in a successful manner, his eyes flashing with hate.

His most trusted guard was the one that had tried to kill him! And he had been blind to it all along. If she gets to the 'Queen' my plans are spoiled! Plus, she is the only one that knows how to defeat me.

Rage plummeted him into a fit of destroying. Grabbing all the books off of the shelves, throwing it into the floor. ALL OF MY YEARS OF PLANNING. TO BE SPOILED BY MY BEST FRIEND!

Liveos only had one person he had trusted. And he had trusted falsely! What a fool he was. More darkness enveloped him, storming out into the dark forest that lied outside, he went to a gigantic cave. If this was his last plan, so be it!

He walked inside, it was still considerably light. But he stopped before the light turned into shadow.

"Nogard. Are you ready?"

A huge eye blinked, before the second one opened. Three giant tusks or horns were pointing towards the Shadow lord. The pure blue eyes glaring a hole through Loveos.

Liveos then turned and ran. Not because he was afraid of the beast. But afraid of the mountain.

The mountain shook, sending waves through the air. Then, a very large beast arose. Its spiky mane and horns daring to threaten anyone who stood in their way.

A humongous cat-like creature was free after a thousand years. And its strength was like that of a thousand armies. It's claws were sharper than the sharpest sword. It's teeth were spears. It's eyes were daggers. It was the best weapon Liveos had. And he was the only one that knew of it.

Asadior was at the end of the tunnel. His face towards the rising Suns. All of the sudden, the earth shook. For about ten seconds, then all turned into silence.

The kingswolf whined and tucked its tail. Its black pelt hairs standing on end. Whimpering and running towards the light. So Asadior followed, as the tunnel started to shake and crumble. Asadior tripped as a rock pinned his cloak down, yelling.

The kingswolf turned to him, and them to the end of the tunnel. Rushing back to his fallen companion, the wolf yanked and tore the cloak, then grabbed the fallen soldier gently in his jaws, and ran blindly.

Getting to the end on the tunnel right before it went shut. Dust surround the two living beings and then all went dark.

Shining shields surrounded them, blinding the two. Then, one stepped forward and in a booming voice, spoke;

"In the name of the Queen! Surrender."

Tommy was playfully walking around the downstairs of the orphanage, nothing seemed to phase him here, not even the Mistres' sharp tone, and quick movements. He was a happy child, and he should stay that way.

Mistress continued her day. Nothing was different. She had just sent Seirra to the clothing shop, and Kaden was getting the mail.

The middle aged woman sat down and started to sew. Remembering her old life, in her own world. When her sister Libby was alive. How the grass rustled. How the moon would shine at night. How the breeze would blow fresh air. And the occasional snow.

While here, in England, every single thing seemed grey. The sky, the streets. Everyone seemed unhappy. The rivers always seemed to be roaring and never gentle.

Kaden was waiting for the Queen's troop to get back. He wanted to give this Asadior a piece of his mind. Not the happy part of it, not at all.

He had tried to kill his best after all, and didn't care. Asadior was crazy, insane, or mad if you would put it that way. And Kaden couldn't stand him. At all.

Whoever would dare to hurt his best friend. Would surely get hurt if he ever came across his path.

Kathreen was sitting across from him.

"So..." She started awkwardly, "How is life going at the orphanage?"

"Fine. We get to move out this year. Don't know where I'm going to go. But not back in Sweden."

"But Kaden, you wanted for the longest time to go there. Why the change of mind?" The redhead said worriedly.

"The memories will be to much. I wanted to go back to the home I had. I didn't want a new start. I want to remember Sweden for what it was. Not what it is to me if I'm there." He said smiling softly.

Kaden was very glad that Kathreen cared about him. When Kathreen had left, they hadn't been on the best of terms. But now Kaden was glad that she acted as if nothing had happened. It made everything much less stressful and crazy in this time of confusion and peril.

"How's it going in America?"

"It's going okay. It's just very warm and sticky all the time where I live. Very different from the U.K." She replied swiftly on this touchy subject.

She didn't like it there, that was obviously true. He wondered why. Kaden knew it couldn't just be home sickness.

Asadior growled, he couldn't be captured again! He did not want to be sold off. Never! He would fight to the death. But then a shadow appeared.

All of Asadior's fears came true. First it was a bark, then, it was a yip, and then it was a lunge. Grey and black fur tumbled into the shadow.

"Bear!" A happy shout was heard.

Twi was in the ground with a kingswolf licking and nuzzling her. She was on the ground, her eyes wide in surprise, a grin spreading on her face. Chuckling at every move of the dog-like creature.

The kingswolf happily continued to kick his owner. Asadior felt a twinge of jealousy. He wished he had a loyal friend, someone to stick by his side, when he needed it the most.

Now this was taken from him, and his heart felt torn. No feelings! Feelings are for the week, and poor in spirit. Not for you, you fool.

Kedi looked up. His protector was standing up, light pouring in. Yes, Kedi had some sun light come in, but very rarely. Now light was pouring in. For the first time in years, thousands of years. His protector was free. And so was he.

A dark man came over after about three minutes. He peered into the hole.

"Kvish hend." He said.

He speaks the new language. Not the tounge of old.

"Hello." The brown eyed boy called up, his heart pounding and head spinning.

Where was his protector? The big cat could be to much to miss. It's grey-white fur, gigantic paws, and piercing blue eyes. And then there it was, scooping a paw down for the kid to climb on.

Kedi climbed on, and watched the man as he was lifted out. The whole time, for he did not trust him. Not one bit.

"How are you alive?" The man asked.

"The protector saved me, and granted my immorality." Kedi answered simply, shrugging his shoulders.

Saying that was a mistake. The man came over to him and started shaking Kedi.

"How!" He demanded.

But he was stopped as one of the Nogard's paws pushed Liveos away from Kedi. The brown haired boy was relived as he was lifted onto the Nogard's back.

The mysterious man was yelling something. "Revenge!" It sounded like. "Come with me and then get revenge!"

"Revenge for what?"

"Being trapped." The man said pleasantly.

Kedi stood there for a moment. Unsure of what to say. He looked up to the protector, the Nogard.

"Revenge."

The word seemed foreign on his tongue. He had once thought he'd never be free. But now?

"Vengeance. Sir, you have me on your side." A queer grin lot up the black haired boy's face. A wild fire, had just lit his soul.
