Lara never came back to the dorm. I couldn't sleep coz I kept thinking about her. She can't just keep ignoring me without any reason. I sighed and paced. I wished I'd never left St Patricks High School.
I'd decided to go to Cyndy's dorm again since it wasn't curfew yet.
I knocked on the door this time. I wasn't in the mood for any glares and glowers.

No one answered so I peeped in and every one was asleep. Funny enough, Cyndy and Katy were not in their bed and Lara wasn't there too. I closed the door and went out. Where is Lara and her friends? I sighed and went back to the dorm.
I sat on my bed and face palmed.
Everything is just frustrating and scary. I felt like packing my bags and going back to my parents.

"Hi," I heard someone said beside me. Was I hearing voices? Cos I don't know anyone in this school. The only person I know has started ignoring me. I looked up and there stood a girl with a black smooth hair. Her skin was also chalky pale and smooth.
I gaped at her beauty. I realized I was staring and that's rude so I forced a smile.
"Can I sit?" She asked and her voice was soft and velvety. It rang and sounded like she was singing.
"Y-yeah. Sit." I stammered.
She sat and kept smiling.
"My name is Amber." She said in her perfect soprano voice.
"I'm Hailey" I replied.
I don't know why, but she kept her distance. She sat away from me as far as the bed could allow.
Was I smelling? I tried and smelled my hair. My nose was filled with my favorite strawberry hair cream.

"I never got to say welcome when you came. You're welcome." She sang as I continued marvelling at her beauty. Her full lips looked soft and smooth. It had a crimson colour and she had brown eyes.
"Y-yeah." I stammered again.

The lights went out suddenly and I was expecting Lara to be chased in soon.
Then she bolted in. She threw herself on her bed and covered herself with her blanket as she panted.
Were they getting themselves into trouble?
Miss White bolted in and suddenly Amber was on her bed with her cover cloth covering her. I slept on my bed and shut my eyes. Then I felt the lights on. I opened my eyes a bit and surely, the lights were on.

Miss White walked to Lara's bed and tapped her. Lara flinched at her touch and went rigid looking at Miss White with 'o' shaped mouth. Miss White looked uneasy as Lara continued staring at her.
"Follow me." I heard her sang as she turned to leave. She stood at Amber and her friend's bed for too long before leaving.
Lara followed her and thank goodness, she didn't off the light.

Now, I have to figure out how Amber got to her bed within seconds and had her cover cloth covering her. I rolled out of the bed and she came to sit by me.

She smiled and sat as we continued talking. I did most of the talking and that made me feel stupid. I shouldn't be opening up for a total weird stranger. She has to talk too.
"What do you know about this school?" I asked her.
"Nothing much. It's a normal school just like any other school." She smiled. You know I'm never gonna buy that. I sighed. No other school has forest under their dorms with creatures having stupid scary whooshing sound when moving and also, no normal school has white, too beautiful, floating humans with ringing voice like her.

Lara walked in and she stood shocked and rigid at the entrance when she saw Amber and I.
What's with her?
I smiled at her but she ignored me and went to sleep on her bed.
I turned to Amber and she was still smiling.

"Lara! Lara, hold on!" I called as I ran after her. I bumped into people on my way earning me cusses and hisses as I passed.
All through the last week, Lara kept avoiding me. She sleeps in the dorm only a few times.
After class today, Lara packed her books in a rush and left the class.
I ran after her as people watched us.
"Lara!" I called again but she ignored me.
"Lara, wait! We have to settle everything now! Wait!" I shouted again as I ran in hopes of catching up with her.
Finally I got to her and held her arm. She tried jerking it away but I held her firmly.
"This is not fair, Lara! You can't avoid me for no reason!" I hissed as she stopped and turned to face me.
"Let go of me now!" She hissed.
"No way! I won't let you go until you let me know my crime. You just started avoiding me for no reason!" I said.
"Look, just leave me alone." She said and left too early for me to catch her.

I watched her leave as I stood shocked. How can you just develop a great hatred for a friend without a reason?
I stomped back to the dorm and my new friend was sitting on her bed. Amber and I became quite close recently. She's so nice and sassy too.
I slumped myself beside her and she shifted, smiling. Since we were close, she never allowed us coming so close to each other. I had tried getting close to her a number of times in a tricky way but she's smarter than that.
"Hey, didn't you go to school today?" I asked.
"Yes. I went. I just got back." She smiled.
Lara entered with a scowl on her face. She avoided us as usual, throwing her bag on her bed and sped out.
"I'll see you soon." I told Amber and followed Lara out.
I did my best so she won't notice me and throw a tantrum.
She headed into the forest sobbing. It made me want to know what I've done wrong. She sat on a log and I went to stand in front of her. Her head was bowed and so she didn't notice my presence. I cleared my throat and she practically jumped off the log.
"Lara?" I called.
"Hailey, stop stalking me and leave me be!" She cried. I felt so sad about her condition. She looked upset and unsettled. It made her look different.
"Lara, tell me my crime." I said and sat beside her on the log.
"Hailey, please. Let's all pretend we never knew each other. Please." She said with tears streaming down her cheeks. I felt really bad but I'm never gonna pretend we didn't know each other.
"No, Lara. I can't do that." I said and try taking her hands but she jerked off and stood up.
"Hailey, please. I want to complete this school and go back home safely. I don't want to be the next victim. I'm not ready to die now. So leave me alone. Leave. Me. Alone!" She hissed and ran away.
What does that mean?
'I don't want to be the next victim. I don't want to die now.' Lara's words played in my head as I went numb. What does that mean?
