The nausea crashed back into her like a tremor.
Allison struggled to recover from whatever drug was in her system as she sat in the threshold of the glass door on both hands and knees.
The big white dress what puddled around her threatened to swallow her person in what felt like a pit of hot fabric.
Desperate and beyond care, Allison seized the front of the dress and blindly tore away at the bellowing layers of lace. Her hands clawed at the bodice and tugged till it was loose enough to wriggle out of.
Blood rose to her cheeks instinctually at the sensation of staring eyes on her in the empty ballroom.
His eyes.
Smug, amused eyes.
The feeling wretched through her insides in discomfort, and she found herself jumping from her place on the floor, dashing through the halls in a silky slip.
It wasn't long before she found a thin, stone staircase that wound upward to a second level.
Allison climbed without hesitation, still feeling the sick sensation of being watched... and strangely, the higher she climbed... the less uncomfortable she felt.
The first set of doors she came to where large, and oak, decorated with detailed metal work.
With a careful look over her shoulder, Allison quietly entered.
The room itself was vastly large, compleat with a stone fireplace, sitting area, and a bed big enough to suit a..... king!
Crap!!
This had to be his room.
She just had to wonder into his room.
The sudden urge to flee the chamber was almost overwhelming when she remembered the king himself was still out there in the castle somewhere... and she was somewhere he wasn't.
Also... strangely... she felt safe.
Unlike the rest of the castle, this room was warm, and though it was large, it was cozy. Dark stone and wood, along with vibrant colored furs accented the dimly lit atmosphere.
So this is where her child hood villain resided.
Not what she was expecting.
What was she suspecting?
A dungeon, with cold iron shackles and grungy little goblins slurring around?
Well... yeah.
Ally marveled at the tall oak dressers that lined the wall near the bed.
She traced her fingers over the tiny details of the story that was carved in the wood before hesitantly grasped the polished handle with a curious hand.
The dresser door swung open with a slight gust of cool air, and spout of glitter. Materials of all sorts (some she was sure only existed in this world) whisped in light flutters at the sudden opening. Cloaks, capes, even armor could be scene hanging neatly over various hooks.
She had to solve this labrynith,
and she damn sure wasn't about to do it barefoot in a slip.
Rummaging through the layers of garments, she searched until she found a few items that could fit reasonably.
Hesitantly... and not wanting to do it in the likes of that's place... Ally shimmied out of the silk dress and quickly pulled on a large, surprisingly not frilly poet blouse that covered just enough to give her time to find something for her legs.
Towards the far back of the dresser, she found a pair of light brown trousers that looked to small to still fit the king.
She slipped them over her legs and grinned at the comfort of them. Fitting tightly to her legs and sitting high on her waist.
Now for the feet.
High heel pirate boots didn't seem to good for running... so she went with some practical looking brown leather boots that laced all the way up to her knee.
Much better.
Allison didn't know what to do next.
Well... she did... but she was scared.
Scared to face the Labrynith.... and now it was time to begin.
She stared at her reflection in the large mirror mounted on the nearest wall.
How did she get into this? How did she get herself to fight for so much?
"Allison?" A voice broke through the silence of the room, causing Ally to nearly jump out of her skin.
In the reflection of the mirror behind her, she saw somebody sitting up from their nap on the couch near the fireplace.
The violent nerves in the teen's stomach began to dissipate as the raven black hair on the figures head began to register.
"Aunt Sarah?!" She nearly shouted.
Allison found herself dashing across the room and into the waiting arms of her aunt.
Sarah was waring a nightgown that was obviously of the underground, and she looked... healthy... and alive.
Allison's person trembled with excitement at the sight of her aunt after thinking her dead for so long.
Sarah's hands rubbed her back soothingly. "You got my message." She said simply with a weak smile, a hint of guilt in her tone.
"You're alive... you're here... it's all real!" Allison sputtered out all at once what she had been holding in for the past few hours.
"Yes, yes I am and yes it is.." She nodded.
Allison's face distorted a bit at what her mouth was about to admit next.
"I... I made a deal with the Goblin King."
Her brows drew in as the realization dawned on her.... of just how deep she was in.
"I know you did sweetheart... and I hate to say that part of me was counting on it."
"I have to solve the Labrynith."
"I know... but if this place proves my story real, then you know it's not impossible." Sarah encouraged.
All of a sudden, the sound of the wall clock ticked abnormally loud and pounded for attention.
Panic struck Allison's features at the fact that five hours had passed already. Sarah picked up on it and quickly shook her nieces shoulders. "Allison listen to me. You have time. Don't take things for granted here... it'll only waist time.
And don't patronize Jareth. He will cheat and take time away from you." She warned urgently.
Allison's features refused to relax. "He can't
cheat... he said it wasn't a game!"
"It's always a game! It's all he knows how to do....
You're a smart girl Allison... you are going to win this.
Even if you have to cheat."
