The emotions of the week had become to much for the Froud family.
Being together only caused a build up of grief.
Toby and Heather had left on a vacation up north to clear there heads about a week ago to
give Allison the space they thought she needed.
2 a.m.
Alone.
Nothing but the lulling pang of her thoughts ailing her like a plague.
How long had she been laying there? Face up on the bed, shoes on, along with yesterday's makeup still smeared across her empty eyes.
Hours?
Days?
"You have no power over me." Ally whispered in a weak attempt to be brave. To be like her aunt.
To remember.
To over power the sadness.
But it wasn't working.
"You have no pow-" she couldn't get through the sentence before rolling over miserably on her stomach to hide the tears from the world. To hide them from herself.
Her hands slid up under the pillow to press in harder to herself in attempt to smother the involuntary shudders that quaked through her in nauseating tremors.
Horrible.
Rubbish.
Terrible.
Her life.
The situation....
....The pillow?
The pillow was crap.
Allison fumbled the plush thing in her hands curiously at the odd crunching noise it made.
Funny... It didn't use to do that.
She slipped her hand under the soft casing to feel what felt like some sort of paper.
Pulling it out, she examined a rather odd piece of folded parchment.
What the heck?
Nervous in such a fragile state, Ally questioned if investigating further would be wise.... But she found that her fingers simply didn't care as they nimbly unfolded the little treasure.
Once unfolded, Allison could just make out a scribbly note through the blurry tears in her bloodshot eyes.
Allison,
I don't know what he has done to your mind right now, but understand that I am alive and well. I don't have much time before I leave... He doesn't know Iv written this. He mustn't ever know.
If you ever loved me Ally, believe this...
The Labrynith is real.
~Sarah
Where had her breath escaped to?
The parchment crinkled slightly as her hands clenched in anxiety.
Was this a joke?
It wasn't a very funny one.
Not at all.
Sarah was dead... Surly....
*tap*tap*tap*tap*tap*tap*tap*
Tapping erupted excitedly from nowhere, ripping Allison's attention everywhere at once.
To scatterbrained to think strait, she jumped from her place on the bed, and ran blindly toward the sound of the noise.
The mirror.
"No more fairy tales... there are no such thing as snitchy goblins hiding in my mirror! Stop it!!" She screamed frustratedly to nobody in particular. She picked up a hairbrush, and chucked it at her reflection, frustrated and outraged... desperate to end the taunting sound of little hands beating against glass.
Glass scattered itself across the vanity and carpet of her room in distinctly jagged pieces
Then, everything went still.
No more tapping.
No more screaming.
Only the distorted little faces of goblins grinning up at her from the mirrored shards's reflections.
Allison's stomach lurched at the impossible sight.
This was a joke!
A sick prank!
She had finally lost it!
A mental break down.
The crazed teen found herself diving on her knees by her bed, reaching far under to yank out a dusty cardboard box filled with many of her childhood belongings... Along with a familiar little book bound in red leather.
"I want my aunt back. I want my aunt back..." She chanted as her hands fumbled to the correct page.
"...the right words..."
Allison stood to full hight, and threw her shoulders back, not daring to move here eyes to those of the creatures in the glass.
"I wish to speak to the Goblin King... right now!"
