Whatever Allison had expected to happen when she said the right words... This was certainly not it.
All these years she thought the "right words" were just a superstition...
But when a massive barn owl appeared at her window, she was moved to reconsider.
It's wings flapped against the glass, while its large talons scratched at the pane aggressively.
Allison herself was frozen where she stood.
She didn't know if it was shock, or her sudden acceptance of the fact that she had completely lost her mind.
Only a few moments passed before the window burst open to the mirror goblin's delight, and the owl blew into her room in a gust of wind and feathers.
She defiantly forced herself to take in the transformation as the hunched bird magically rose to a full six feet... feathers bursting into spouts of glitter that hazed through the long black cape that bellowed around the Goblin King that was now standing before her.
He was staggeringly frightening.
Everything from his sharp features, to his fierce, mismatch eyes.
Just as intimidating as she had imagined him
as a child.
But what she was not expecting from the villan was that he was beautiful.
A true wonder in his own, other worldly way.
He wasn't human.
That much was obvious.
But he was no less of a man.
She couldn't help but be taken aback by the abundance of wispy blond hair that framed his dangerously charming face.
Allison hadn't noticed her jaw had dropped until the king smirked. "You have my attention." He quipped.
Snapping back into her senses at the sound of his voice, Allison shook her head in attempt to clear it.
"A-are you him?" She asked, cursing herself for the waver in her voice.
"I'm afraid you will have to be a bit more specific." He lured, pronunciations each word slowly and clearly.
She wasn't in the mood to be patronized. Gathering her strength from deep in her gut, she made a brave step forward.
"Him. As in the him in this letter. Is that you?" She nearly yelled, shaking her aunt's message still in her fist.
He reached for the parchment and she reluctantly gave it over.
His eyes examined it before a smile broke across his face, and his head shook in amusement.
"Ah, my dear Sarah has tricks. A clever one she is." He handed the message back to the girl before him.
"Yes, I am certainly the him in this message."
Anger flared in Allison's core.
He had Sarah.
"Where is she?" She demanded, glaring up at him hatefully.
"I assume you speak of Sarah. By this letter I think you know exactly where she is." He grinned wickedly.
"Give me my aunt back. Now" She growled through her teeth.
At the word aunt, something clicked in his features.
"Aunt? Sarah Williams is your aunt?" He asked for clarification.
Allison didn't even bother answering.
The king clasped his gloved hands together. "So you my dear must be little Tobby's daughter." He smiled as the resemblance registered. The same peachy skin tone, and blue eyes.
"Why did you take her?" She ignored him.
"I can see it now... though you have a curtain fire in you that she didn't." He ignored in return.
Allison felt herself begin to get worked up again. "Why did you take her?!" She nearly shouted.
"Because I wished it." He said simply. "Sarah must have told you stories about me. How I grant wishes."
"As a matter of fact she did." Aly grinned smuggle at him. "So I wish for her back, and for things to go back to normal."
The Goblin King threw his head back and let out a hysterically wicked laugh.
"You truly believe your wishes hold higher then my own?" He chuckled tauntingly.
"My dear I am so very lonely. I simply wished to enjoy the company of an old friend."
"You're not lonely!" Allison jabbed a finger in his direction.
"You're bored. Obsessed with stupid games that make you feel more powerful then just a man who babysits monsters. My aunt did tell me stories of Jerath the 'great' Goblin king... And from what Iv gathered.. you're nothing but a sore looser and spoils brat!" She spat furiously.
He wasn't laughing anymore.
The glare he wore was enough to strike fear in any grown man.
"Is that what you think I do?" He asked gravely.
"Wait around until some little girl wonders into my clutches before playing a game with them? Teach them a life lesson?"
Allison felt as though she were shrinking within herself as he sauntered forward, causing her to inwardly backpedal.
"This is my world. And I bend it to my will child." He hissed, towering over her. The lose proximity was overwhelming. Ally felt as though she would suffocate under the shadow of his cloak.
With her last spark of confidence she looked him in the eyes. "I'm not a child."
At this his sharp brows rose. "Oh of corse not my dear... how foolish of me for not seeing it." All at once he had moved to the other side of the room with a speed that could have given Ally whiplash.
"Games are not for children my dear Allison... So we won't play any."
A wash of relief filled Allison as she closed her eyes.
But she wasn't expecting the sudden waft of hot breath on the back of her neck.
A reflex jolted up her spine and over her shoulders in a tight, ridged vice as her muscled tensed in attention. Shivers rolled uncomfortably as the hairs on her neck prickled.
"But if you ever wish to see your aunt again, you will escape my castle, and solve my labrynith within thirteen hours.
And fret not love.
It will be far from a game."
