G

What was I do doing with my life? Running from my problems wasn't like me, nor was it needed. I was mentally kicking myself as I stormed out of the house away from the human. I hated myself for being so cowardly.

But, that look in her ruby eyes. That look. It made my non-existent gut turn upside down and made me feel....Weird. She felt so......Connected to me in a way. The way she had willingly let me stay in her lap all night and how she didn't complain was foreign. Even Paps complains about every freakin' thing I do.

She's so......

SHUT THE HELL UP, G.

I yelled at myself as I stumbled through town, lighting a cigarette and trying to take in fresh air to relieve me of my pounding headache. How could I be so stupid to have drank so much?

As I went to go by a remedy for the pain shooting through my skull, a figure pulling into town from the North path caught my eye....Er, socket.

An old, wise turtle man, Gerson, came in with his cart of goods. It was already that time of the year? Every year, Gerson traveled around the kingdom selling his items and spreading his wisdom. Usually, it was things like how many kids someone would have or if they were in grave danger, crap like that.

Gerson and I go way back. Since he was the kingdom's apothecary, he had to know everyone. He had become especially good friends with Grillby and I had always seen him when Pap, Fuku, or I had gotten sick. When I saw him, he had been pulling into town with his supplies. He usually stayed around here for a week, but only choose one person to give his guidance to.

He turned to me, taking in that I was there. He at first looked shocked at my dramatic appearance change since last year, but then he smiled and came my way. I crossed my arms and watched as he pulled his wagon over to where I stood and hopped off. I easily towered of him by about 3-4 feet. I knelt down and took his hand, shaking it firmly.

He smiled mischievously and pulled my arm back, me forgetting he would test my skills every year. "You are slow, young skeleton."

I chuckled as he let my arm go. "Well, I don't have the bes' memory, sadly. How are ya' Gerson?"

"I'm doin' mighty fine, young one! As it appears, you are, too! Picked up smokin', ey'?"

I sighed and nodded. "Is' a copin' mechanism. Y'know, me and my stupid nightmares n' such."

He nodded as patted my head lightly. "A child such as you shouldn't be dealing with pain such as that. The burden is too great and it pains me to see you suffer."

I shook my head, looking down at the ground. "Ya...... Anyway! Who's the lucky person gettin' ya' wisdom?"

We stood up to walk as one of the villagers happily helped Gerson pull his wagon to an open spot. I walked slowly and bent over a little just to hear him.

"Actually, a man named G and his human."

I stopped. Gerson never knew my nickname, nor has he met or even heard of Frisk. I turned on my heel to him once he knew I had stopped.

"That'd be me...."

His eyes widened. "Really now?"

I nodded, making him chuckle. "You have a human living with you?"

I blushed, my sockets widening. "N-no! I was forced to by the Queen. In all honesty, I couldn't care less!"

He hummed in amusement as he turned, waving his stick cane in the air. "Better go get her and meet me at my tent by sundown."

I sighed and turned, my cloak flying behind me as I took off in a speed walk toward the house. I didn't want to talk to her, but I guess I had to.

Frisk

I had gone upstairs to the bathroom to look at the marks more clearly. Dang, whatever nightmare G had must've been bad. His tossing and turning made my arms bleed and bruise.

I was trying to wash off the blood when the front door slammed. My ruby eyes widened. Oh God.

"Doll!? Where are ya'?" G's voice called. I freaked out and quickly went to find something to cover up my arms. My first instinct was to grab a red towel and wrap it around my arms, which I did.

G came into view as he climbed the stairs and stopped at the top, staring at me through the open bathroom door.

"Whata' ya' doin'?"

"Oh, nothing. Don't worry." My lie was dumb and he saw right through it. I pulled the towel closer to me as he came closer, an angry/concerned look on his face. In one quick swoop, the towel was ripped from my grasp and the injuries he had accidently given me were exposed.

His sockets widened and his hands grasped my arm and collarbone gently. This was....Weird. "What happened? Who did this to you?"

"I-I uh." How was going to explain that he did? He knelt down, his yellow iris flaming in anger.

"WHO?!"

"YOU DID!" I screamed. He stopped, his flame dying down.

"I....I did......How?"

I sighed and looked to my feet. "You kept tossing and turning in your sleep. Your bones scratched me. Did you have a nightmare or something?"

He hesitated for a while, not knowing how to answer. Well, that was a yes.

"Is' not too bad, is it?" He asked, not looking away from my gaze. He was clearly ashamed of himself.

"No, Im fine."

"Good, we gotta go see someone if ya' don't mind."

My eyebrow raised as he stood up and made his way to the stairs. "Who?"

He turned back, a devious smile on his face. "You'll see, dove."

We had arrived at a burgundy tent some time later. I looked up to G who was now smoking silently. He looked content and interested. I was still wondering what was going on, but followed him in.

An old turtle man sat in a chair, his eyes closed as he sat. When we entered, one of his eyes opened and a smile grew on his wrinkly face.

"Ah! The young skeleton returns with the human! Good, good! Have a seat, young ones."

I looked up at G who nodded at me and took a seat, me following after him. We turned to the turtle who looked eager to continue. His hand took mine gently and he smiled.

"I am Gerson, the local apothecary. What might be your name, child?"

I swallowed my saliva and cleared my throat. "I'm Frisk, sir."

"Frisk ey'?" He said, getting used to my name. "Hmm. Just as I suspected."

"What do ya' mean?" G asked, joining the conversation. Gerson turned to him and chuckled.

"As you know, every year I travel to the border towns and present my wisdom to one lucky person. This year, I have chosen you two."

I titled my head in curiosity as G continued. "Ya', ya', we got that, but what do need to say?"

He chuckled. "I find it hard to believe you two haven't figured it out already, being so close already."

We both stared at him, confused. "My, my. Both children of opposite sides. A monster born to bring upon darkness and a human born to present light. Though, opposites are said to attract and it certainly has. It seems your search is over."

We both continued to stare as Gerson gripped our hands tightly, his eyes closing once again.

"I see great power yet misfortune for you two. Together, you shall do great things. Frisk lacks a Guardian it seems, but we already know who that is."

He smiled wide as both G and I stared in shock.

"It seems another Guardian and Vigilant are together again, doesn't it?"
