Chapter 3
*G's POV*
Speed walking through the Ruins, I wanted to get her to someone safe and leave. She was being very slow, however, and trailed behind me. I'd be warped back to her constantly, which was annoying as all hell.
"What's wrong with ya'?" I complained, glancing over my broad shoulder at her. She seemed out of breath and tired.
"I-I...I need a break or something," she stuttered. I sighed and stopped, turning on my heel to face her. She fell to her knees and breathed slowly. I just watched her, curious on why she was here and why I was drawn to her.
I don't need a repeat of before again.
Her eyes were closed and her expression was blank. It was weird. Not as weird as the other humans I have met, but...... interesting. It wasn't until she started swaying that I realized there was something wrong. I got to my knees and sighed. "What's up with ya'?" I asked. She smiled softly and shook her head.
I knew what was up. The Weed had hurt her. I groaned in anger as I lifted her off her feet and carried her the rest of the way. She'd cry softly in pain and I'd shush her quietly. I didn't need any monster to look at me any stranger than before.
Approaching the dark, tangled tree in the distance, I looked down at Frisk's face. She was staring up at me, pain and uncomfort in her eyes. "We're almost there, Doll," I whispered, moving quicker towards the tree.
"TORI!" I yelled, my voice echoing through the room. A middle-aged goat woman ran out of her home, straight for me.
"G?" She asked. When she saw Frisk, her bright blue eyes widened and motioned for me to come inside. I ran in, followed Toriel into a bedroom, and laid Frisk down. She pushed me out while she healed her, leaving me to wander.
The human was pretty hurt. She had passed out after Tori's healing magic had stopped the bleeding. Toriel had bandaged her up and pushed me in the room to watch her as she went to make food. I sighed, pulled up a chair, and sat down.
It had been about an hour until she was awake again. I smirked slightly as she sat up. "Ya' look like a train hit ya'," I said.
She turned to me and rolled her ruby eyes. "Wow, thanks, bonehead."
I gave her a wink as Tori started to open the door. "No problem, Doll."
She walked in, a pleasant, loving smile stretched across her face. "Hello, my child," she said to Frisk. "Would you like some pie and tea?"
*Frisk's POV*
I swear my eyes watered at those words. God I was starving beyond belief! I eagerly shot up from the bed, went around G and rushed over to the goat woman, nodding and smiling like an idiot. She gave me a strange look an viewed me over. I looked her over too. She was wearing a beautiful violet and darker purple dress, a gold band like tiara around her head. She had soft looking white fur and droopy ears, small horns grew through the top of her head. Her blue eyed gaze shifted back to the skeleton behind me, whom, I could feel was staring bullets at me. The goat woman gave G a confused look. "G.... What has happened to this child's clothes?"
I spin around and he shrugs at her, rolling his iris. "I didn't do a thing. It was probably that stupid flower. Might be from when she fell?" He refuses to face me. I correct him unintentionally. "A-actually...It wasn't just the flower or the fact that I fell... I was running for a while before then..."
This draws their attention. G only peeks from the corner of his sockets though. I feel a fuzzy paw on my shoulder. The Goat woman catches my eye with a small frown of worry. I feel my heart being ripped out. It was one of such sorrow and confusion...I felt horrible for bringing up anything. I hadn't even said anything about why I was running in the first place, so...Why did she seem so distraught? "What ever for, child?" I struggle for the words..." Er...I was running from...?" I had completely forgotten at this point. So much happened in only a day or so that I couldn't think straight. So.. I just say the first thing that I remember without realizing it.
"I was running from a man with a gun...? Before that I was on the run from my... parents...?" A gasp comes from the goat woman. She covers her mouth with one paw still on my shoulder, weighing it down. Horror fills her expression and I feel myself turn white. Did I say that out loud? I meant to think it, not actually say it. I hear a quiet 'Damn' from behind me. I couldn't tell if he was serious, but I didn't care. I was concerned for how this woman would react next. She pulled me into a small hug without any warning. "You poor dear! How on earth did you survive through all this?!"
I can't come up with an answer let alone words. I hadn't been embraced like this since I was little... It was nice but filed me with bitter nostalgia. I yearned to hug her back, but I didn't feel like I should. She backed away, paws on my shoulders with care. She smiled solemnly and continued. "This must be so confusing to you...After all, you have been through so much. Let us go into the dining room, we will sit there and I will treat you with some pie, fresh from the oven. How does that sound, my child?"
I swear, those words were like magic to me. As soon as they processed in my mind, I had immediately regained color and felt like a million bucks. I smile and thank her greatly for her concerns. Footsteps could be heard approaching from behind, and G walked right past us, patting whom he called "Tori" on the shoulder as he emerged into the hallway. "Then c'mon and bring the human, Tori." the way he muttered 'human' made me wanna punch him in the jaw a second time.
'Tori' nods happily and takes me by the hand, gently dragging me with her down a longish, sunny gold painted hallway. As we walk, she looks down at me and smiles, voice soft like silk, and whispers "Once you are finished, we will have you a new set of clothes."
I think on that for a second, examining my attire as I look down. Geez, my one good sweater, ripped and stained blood. My shorts were pretty beaten up too. And my shoes were filthy with dirt scuffed beyond repair. I guess a new set of clothes would be okay.
We make our way into the dining room/ living room. There is a large arm chair resting beside a fireplace and a table on the other side of the room with a golden flower vase as a centerpiece and a white lace tablecloth. It felt so cozy... Then. A smell hit me in nose and nearly knocked me off my feet. It was...Butterscotch. Cinnamon... Both together and filling the room with a heavenly aroma. God, I was starving. More than before. I wanted to just bolt into the kitchen, dig into that pie like a savage dog and relieve myself of the pain in my gut, but my manners kept me from doing so.
Though, I was almost drooling, my mouth ajar and hanging there. I heard a huff from beside me. Turning slightly, I could see G averting his sockets from me. He looked pissed...But I wasn't sure. I could already tell that he'd be a hard one to read. It frustrated me in some way... Catching a glimpse of the goat women, she smiled down at me and pat my head, stepping away. "I believe the pie is ready, feel free to have a seat over there. I will be back shortly, Child."
She trotted into the kitchen with a sweet smile. Turning the corner, she began humming. The tune had sent me into a trance...dying to hear the words of her beautiful melody, I swayed.
"You got ears, don't you? Sit already." G ordered me with the sound of annoyance and impatience. I glare at him, I don't know why. I just did. And he glared right back, but his wasn't as forced as mine was. His seemed to be more natural and easy, mine hurt my face.
Doing as he had told me, I pulled out one of the chairs and took a seat.
The room was deathly quiet. Too quiet.
Tori was still humming, but it hadn't seemed as loud as before, I attempted to hum along, but that was hard due to the fact I had no clue as to what the song had been.
While waiting, I wondered what had happened earlier... G really seemed mad... But I doubt he knew what had happened either. All I know is that before my soul had disappeared, I remember seeing yellow string. Like the yellow on G's hood and long coat. Was that just something that happened when monsters and humans made contact or something? No. That couldn't have been it. Otherwise the same thing would have happened with Flowey.
But it hadn't.
That's what scared me.
I ran my hands through my knotted up hair, blowing out air from the bubble in my cheeks. This whole thing just boggled my mind. Nothing made sense anymore. Nothing at all. I was so confused, so lost, and I was...I was afraid. God I was afraid. I was afraid when I fell, afraid with that flower, and afraid of what might happen to me while I was down here. But being in this house has eased that fear a tad, and made me feel a little more comfortable. The humming had continued and rose into the dining room, drawing my attention as Tori had stepped into the room with a large pie in her paws, she greets me and G with a smile.
"Hello again! I hope I was not gone too long."
"Your fine, Toriel. No sweat."
Toriel. I took note, now knowing that Tori was just a nickname.
Now, I know the names of three monsters in the Underground. One of which I hope to never encounter again, and another whom more than likely hates my guts, and then another who is probably the kindest person I have ever met. But then again... That's what I had thought about my parents too.
I felt a piece of me begin to shatter at the thought. I had completely forgotten.
My whole world had revolved around them. Would have done anything for them to just look at me the same way they had before they found me out. Before my father's racism had gotten the better of him and had him shun me for having an uncommon opinion.
Thinking about this... Made me wonder if Toriel was like that... If I said something she disagreed with... Would she still be the seemingly sweet goat women she was being right now? Or would she just shun me like the rest of the world had? My heart sank, I couldn't imagine that. It hurt too much. So I decided to enjoy her kindness best I could while it lasted.
She placed the pie on the table, slicing it and setting it down onto a plate in front of me. I stared down at it, eyes wide opened, mouth watering as a dollop of swirled whipped cream had begun to slowly melt. I looked at Toriel longingly, she giggled and nodded "Yes, you can eat."
Taking the fork firmly in hand, I scooped off a large bite and shoved in my mouth. As soon as it hit my tongue I teared up. This pie...Was the best thing I had ever tasted! I swear I was crying while I ate it. And you know what? No regrets. I scarfed the whole slice down in not even three bites, feeling both monsters stare at me like I was crazy. G especially. I could sense him burning a hole into the back of my head. But again, no regrets. I was so overwhelmed with the joy of finally eating something edible that I didn't even care about how loud I was and how dramatic I seemed. Wiping my mouth with my wrist, I peered back at Torel. Her eyes were widened, shock flooding them. I laughed nervously. "Hahaha...ha... It was really good, Toriel. Thank you."
A look of joy followed immediately once I had began to speak to her. I was feeling less embarrassed now, then.....
*Gruuummble*
I flush. I was still hungry.
G held back a snicker from behind me. I shrunk in my seat as Toriel turned to face the jerk skeleton, almost as if she was getting onto him for finding it funny. She didn't even need words. He stopped snickering as soon as their eyes met I think, because he had went mute. A smirk found its way to my lips. Toriel cuts another slice and gives it to me.
My heart swells and I stare up at her. Again, I think I was crying.
"There you are! Please, have as much as you wish, Child. I will prepare some new clothes for you!" She chirped.
You'd think I was feeling slightly suspicious of her still, but no. She has already won me over with her unbelievable kindness. Besides....
If there is one way to win me over, it's with food. And this wasn't just any food...It felt like food from the gods. I was more than grateful, I was thrilled. Ecstatic. Without a second thought, I jumped from my chair and hugged the goat women. I exclaimed, truly happy and probably looked like an idiot while I squeezed her.
"Thank you thank you thank you!!!"
She laughs and pets my head. "You are most certainly welcome, Child!"
Letting go finally, she hurried into one of the rooms, shutting the door behind her. Which left me and my happy self with G. I looked at him, my smile faltering into a confused stare. His eyes...They seemed so menacing. He furrowed his brow bones at me. I slowly turned back to the tables and sat down, hoping he'd stop looking at me like that.
Minutes went by, I wasn't eating as fast as before. G still hadn't moved. He remained leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. A feeling of discomfort washed over me, and I set the fork down. Hoping to ease the tension, I tried to talk to him. Then I remembered;
If it weren't for him, I'd probably be dead. He has saved me twice already, and I felt horrible for it.
"G?"
He grunts.
"Thank you...For bringing me here to be fixed up... Sorry I didn't say that sooner."
"Hm." Is all he said. I felt my blood boil slightly, but ignored it.
I swished back around in my chair an eyeballed the pie, I offer him some.
"Want some?"
"What?" His deep, raspy voice asks gruffly.
"Some pie, genius. I was asking if you wanted some." I sounded more rude than I had intended to. Whoops. G just huffs and replies. "Nah. I'm good, Dollface." His tone sounds almost as bad as mine. There's a large wall of ice between us by the time Toriel comes back into the room, she ushers me with her down the hall and I refuse to turn back around just so I can see what that smoke stenched skeleton was doing.
Once in the room from earlier, I decide to examine my surroundings a little more. It seemed to be a child's room. There is one bed, a toy basket beside it, and there is a large bookshelf in between the twin beds. A lamp sits beside a wall, stuffed animals laying at rest on top of another shelf. There is a desk covered in opened books and papers with writing on them. Almost reminded me of the desk I had in my room on the surface. Well, my old room. I had no intentions on being there again so technically the desk was no longer mine. Whatever.
Toriel stood in the center of the large rug, holding up a beautiful white dress, with it was a silver-grey cloak. It was similar to G's, but didn't have any yellow stripes on it and had a blue button on the neck so I could button it onto my shoulders without falling off. Also, it didn't have any sleeves. It was just an average cloak really. But it made my eyes sparkle.
Slowly, I stepped to her, she handed me the dress and cloak with a smile.
"I do hope they are the right size."
I looked at it thoroughly, seeing that it miraculously was, I gave her a thumbs up, sending a bigger smile to her mouth. It warmed my heart. "Excellent! There is a hair brush in those drawers over there and some laced shoes beside the bed for you, child! Please come out whenever you feel ready!" She said in a sing song tone, exiting the room and leaving me to get out of my once favorite sweater. I sigh in content.
Out of everyone I have met so far, she was my favorite.
