Chapter 21
Here it is, chapter 21! Hope you enjoy it!
At noon the next sunny cloudless day, it was time for the exchange. Freddy and the Rong of the Moon would be traded in return for the captured US soldiers led by Captain Harry. Several green military vehicles had gathered in a semi-circle facing the sea on the beach of Weston-Super-Mare. A large Union Jack, the Star and Stripes, and the UN flag flew from poles in the wind as the PM and the President awaited with Freddy, Flasheart, Sara, Jai and Paul in the gap between the centre vehicles among the soldiers. The President looked at his watch. "They said they'd come just after noon. Do you think they'll be here on time?" He asked out loud to no one in particular as Flasheart shook his head. "No, sir. They'll be here. Werens don't like to be late." Flasheart answered back.
At that moment, up in space, a hanger door opened up on the lead ship of the Weren fleet, a vehicle flying out and headed down to Earth. A few minutes later, those on the Beach began hearing a rumbling sound in the air. "What's that noise?" Sara asked as she moved her head from left to right. "Up there!" Jai exclaimed as he pointed his left arm upwards into the sky, making everyone present look upwards to see up in the sky a small black object was pummelling downwards, a rumbling noise coming from it. The object went down and down until, just before it impacted the water of the Bristol Channel, it pulled up sharply, flying straight towards the beach, slowing down as it came upon them, blowing a wind which caused sand to fly around, adding a little flair to the moment. Those on the beach watched as the ship approached, some holding their arms up to deal with the hand and the sun as the ship flew up to them. It was black, with a sausage shapes main hull, long swing wings in the middle which folded all the way back as the ship stopped, a muzzle shaped pointy front with a glass viewport noticeable, four doors opening at the bottom of the hull, a metal beam lowered, a flat beam at the end, as it hovered for a second or two before it turned around, reading two engines on either side of the hull as the ship set down in the sand, the two engines going dark.
"Uncle Hotspur's personal ship." Freddy explained as the humans stared at the ship in awe and amazement when suddenly a door opened downwards in the rear of the ship, stopping after a second, extending a ramp down the rest of the way to the sand. "Father, what should we..." Freddy (the Ring of the Moon in right hand) spoke, stopping as he looked over his left shoulder to see Flasheart (hugging the plant case in his hands) had ducked behind the vehicle to his right.Nobody spoke after that, only the wind blowing, the three flags fluttering in it when suddenly there was movement from the ship. They saw a shadow stepping out of the darkness of the entrance of the ramp, all eyes on it as it began walking down it they saw other movement as well, it stepped down the ramp out of the shadow of the ship to reveal Hotspur. Wearing his wear tunic, no mask, he showed no reaction to the sun as Freddy took as step forwards, a scared expression on his face. A moment later, Ric (walking behind Hotspurs right) stepped out of the shadow in his uniform, an air mask on his face, followed by two ranks of Weren soldiers in grey armour, marching in unison on either sides of the ramp, the two leading soldiers in each rank holding a Weren flag in their arms. The soldiers stepped onto the sand and spread out into a semicircle, thought the formations started at the tip of the ramp on both sides, whilst Hotspur and Ric stepped forwards towards the ensemble.
Freddy (hiding the Ring of the Moon into his fingers as he formed a fist) stepped past the others and the vehicles and stopped before Hotspur. "May the Moon shine upon you, uncle. I can't believe you came for me, with the fleet and all that." Freddy greeted in English with a smile, which internally was false, speaking with a hint of hesitancy, as he now that he knew of his uncles dark side. "Yes, this is the one." Hotspur acknowledged in English as he glanced up at the Humans, letting them know they had got the right one. "Well, do you have it? The Ring of the Moon?" Hotspur asked sharply and rather impatiently. "Yesss..." Freddy mumbled nervously before Hotspur leaned in closer. "Then where is it?" He asked before he then began patting Freddy down hardly, doing his body, arms and legs, even stepping behind Freddy, ruffling Freddy's tail, ignoring Freddy's grunts of pain. Sara, Jai and Paul winced at the sight. The ruffling caused Freddy to open up his right hand, the Ring of the Moon falling onto the sand, shining bright in the sunlight. Hotspur noticed the glow in the corner of his eyes stepped past Freddy's right, looked down at it, bent downwards and picked it up with his left hand, letting out an evil chuckle as he held it up before his eyes, the glow dimming a little bit. "You've done well, Freddy." Hotspur spoke, his eyes fixed on the ring, a wide but devious smile on his face.
"Now, my part of the deal." Hotspur then addressed the soldiers and leaders. Then he looked over his right shoulder and spoke an order to Ric in Weren. Ric nodded then turned leftwards and shouted an order in Weren in the direction of the ship. The sound of footsteps came a few seconds later, seeing two shadows appearing at the door, which then revealed as it came down the ramp to be the captured US soldiers, stripped to their underwear, masks over their mouths and noses, feet movement restricted by cuffs, their upper bodies bent forwards, their cuffed hands behind their heads. They ran down the ramp in ranks of two, Captain Harry and the sergeant being the last. They ran out on to the sand and formed ranks of four, standing as the formed, and once the last rank was formed, they bent their legs down, their heads still behind their heads. Ric marched down the front of the ensemble from the left, stopping in the centre and faced them, standing tall. "You may now remove your masks." Ric spoke through his mask, which translated into English. The soldiers then removed their hands off their heads and took the masks off their faces, standing up and began walking towards the vehicles, dropping their masks in the sand as they moved, walking past Ric, none making eye contact. Captain Harry walked up to the leaders, stood before the President and saluted. "Captain, Harry, right?" The President asked, saluting back. "Yes, Sir, Mr President." Harry answered. "How'd they treat you?" The President asked, concerned. "Well, there was no violence upon captivity. They made us wear those masks as they took us on their transport, when we got to their ship in space, they made us strip off once we got off the transport. Then they made us go into a large glass box which we could somehow breath in, with no food, no water, and soldiers watching us nonstop." Harry reported. "And you let them do it, Captain? Didn't any of you protest or something?" The President asked. "I ordered the men to keep quiet and do what they said, and accept it, for their protection. The Weren soldiers in formation turned to face the ramp (left and right, depending on the side) and began marching back up the ramp into the ship.
Meanwhile, Freddy watched the whole thing and turned around leftwards to face his uncle (who stared off to his right) still held the Ring of the Moon up to his face, eyes on it. "So, Uncle, this means we can go home, right?" Freddy asked, hopping he could go back with them, but part of him was saying not to trust his Uncle, especially after everything that had transpired on Earth. He didn't want to mention his father, as his mind told him that Uncle Hotspur believed him to be dead. "No, You can stay here for good... like your father." Hotspur replied with a snarky laugh as he turned leftwards and walked towards the ship. "What? But... aren't I worthy of the Pack, of our blood, of our people?" Freddy asked in surprise, but not shock as he stepped forwards after Hotspur, getting in front of him and stopping before him. "Oh, Freddy, Freddy, Freddy. Haven't you figured it out by now? You're not Weren. You never were. You were born here, on this planet, by a Fangen. And you shall stay here where you belong, Fangen!" Hotspur cried back before he grabbed Freddy with his left hand, then shoved Freddy back/down into the sand behind him. He moved over onto his back and stared up at Hotspur. "No, no! Uncle! Uncle!" He cried, feeling extremely betrayed. Hotspur said nothing, nor looked back as he kept walking, coming up to Ric just before the ramp. "Are we still go for the plan, Grand Growler?" Ric asked softly in Weren."Yes. Ready the machines. We'll give them a few of false hope." Hotspur replies softly in Weren. Freddy heard the hushed talking with his hearing, which made him narrow his eyes in confusion as he got up on his feet and rejoined the others.
"What happened?" Paul asked as he looked Freddy up and down. Flasheart coming out from hiding. "He left me. He threw me into the sand. He... he took the Ring." Freddy said back, Captain Harry (having been provided with a camouflage jacket and trousers) stepping up to him. "You the one they want, kid?" He asked politely. Freddy nodded in response. "It was nothing personal. And I never mean't for you or your soldiers to be captured." Freddy replied, before he looked over his left shoulder, the others staring forwards, watching the ramp moving up, and the door closing. "No. This isn't over. There is something else. They're planning something." Harry spoke out. "This isn't over." Flasheart repeated before he suddenly then turned around rightwards and handed the plant case to the PM, who took it in his arms in surprise. "Look after it. It can be multiplied." Flasheart said to him quickly before he turned rightwards and ran towards the ship, Freddy and the others exclaiming out in surprise before a moment later, he took off after him. Thinking they'd need help, Captain Harry joined as well, bending down to pick up a mask out of the sand with his right hand as they headed towards the ship. Paul and Jai and Sara stared in surprise the tri, before Jai and Paul looked at each other, Jai shrugging before he ran after them, Paul just behind. "What are you doing? Are you crazy?! I... ugh." Sara yelled out, rolling her eyes with those last words before she too ran after them. They all ran up to the rear landing beams, Flasheart hugging his arms and feet and around the right hand side beam, and, looking leftwards to see the others coming, Freddy looking rightwards as he hugged the beam on the other side, Captain Harry hugging the beam in between them as the engines at the rear of the ship glowed blue. Sara, Jai and Paul all grabbed themselves onto the left hand side beam, looking across at the others. "Are you sure about this?" Jai yelled out. "Why are we doing this?" Sara yelled out as well, a moment before the ship suddenly lifted a foot or two off the ground. The group then pressed themselves against the beam, holding tightly as the beam began moving upwards into the hull. The four Humans, the half Weren, and the one Weren all looked leftwards/rightwards or over their shoulders at the speechless crowd, all perplexed at them as they were lifted into the darkness of the ship, the flat beams up after them, the doors closing. The ship moved upwards a few more feet, the wings swinging out into position, and a moment later, the engines fired up, shooting ship forwards across the channel, causing a gust of wind to rock the beach, making the onlookers stumbled back, whilst the ship swiftly angling upwards up into the sky.
And that's chapter 21 done! Hope you enjoyed it! Please leave a vote!
The soldiers movement being relied was inspired by YouTube videos I've seen of prisoners, particularly, the CECOT super prison in El Salvador. I originally wrote of the soldiers being stark naked, but I changed my mind about it.
