Chapter 20

Here it is, chapter 20! Hope you enjoy it! Now we've finished the flashbacks with Flasheart.

"And I had been trapped in that cellar ever since, until Freddy was dumped down the waste chute." Flasheart said, his eyes glancing downwards as he removed the silver sheet from the right side of his head, the hologram shut down, the room in silence a moment later. All of those present in the room had sad expressions on their faces, some projecting in their apologetic. Freddy still stared downwards before he looked upwards and leftwards at Flasheart. "Is all that true? That I was born on this planet?" Freddy asked, his voice low but still. "Yes. It's true." Flasheart answered softly, glancing rightwards at him. "Who am I? What am I then? Am I Weren? Or... Human?" Freddy asked, starting down at his open hands which he held outwards. "I've learned from being on Earth that it's not a bad thing. Being different. And I know the Moon has shined on you as any other Weren." Flasheart assured him.  But Freddy didn't feel any better.

"And what happened to your brother after that?" Paul asked, him and Jai now fully recovered due to the plant juice. The moment those words left his mouth, the Ring of the Moon, lying on the table by Flasheart's left hand, shined brightly, and a moment later, Freddy let out a groan, closing his eyes and holding his hands up on his head sides. "Freddy? Sara and Flasheart asked in unison, everyone looking at him with concern. Flasheart placed his left hand on Freddy's right shoulder as he started panting for a few seconds before placed his hands on his ears, he opened his eyes, tears flowing from his eyes as he let out a scared scream. His upper body bent forwards as his arms gave way onto the table, taking some deep breaths for a few seconds, as if he was in shock. "What happened?" Jai asked him as his panting calmed down. "I saw... I saw... fire, hatred, I could feel it burning in me, screams of innocent ones. He became a....a...a Freddy spoke tearfully, unable to find the right words. "A monster?" The PM asked, assuming from the way Freddy had acted and what they'd seen on the hologram. Freddy made eyes contact with the two leaders for a moment then glanced rightwards at the hologram box and the silver sheet. Then he shoved out his right arm at the silver sheet, grabbed it and placed it on his right forehead and closed his eyes. The lights on the hologram box then came back on, shooting up another beam which formed a rectangle which showed a black and white hologram. "As I grew up, I... I guess he... took what he'd learned on Earth, and recreated a lot of it on our world." Freddy spoke as the hologram cube came back on, a hologram shooting out, and began displaying what Freddy's mind showed.

Hotspur proclaiming himself as Grand Growler, claiming Flasheart had died on his trip. The council had begrudgingly accepted  him, mainly in his brothers memory. But he quickly realised he had left the Ring of the Moon on Earth, meaning his claim to leadership wasn't absolutely legitimised.

Hotspur standing on a podium as a parade of Weren soldiers marches out in ranks before him. Large Weren flags behind him. Ric was among the officers to his sides.

Hotspur ordered to military to arrest and kill any Werens who dared step out of line. Their dead bodies were dumped into vats of acid.

Hotspur handing Ric a gold baton, symbolising his new rank as a gift for his work and loyalty.

He began building new weapons of war, aircraft based on what he had seen on Earth, flying wings, warships, new armour, being built in a factory by very fast machines, the metal coming out in thin streaks out of nozzles on a scaffolding on the roof, as if being sprayed. But it was really nano-particles.

He cloned Ric and several officer officers, building an army, grown over a very quick period, in glass cylinders which opened up when they were fully matured. They were pure soldiers, programmed to obey orders, supposedly incapable of independent thought.

He tested his new army on a peaceful planet whose civilisation had been in touch with the Weren before. His warships (same as those in orbit over Earth) came out of the blue holes, extending out their guns, which shoot beams at the ships before them, tearing them apart. Weren soldiers (wearing the then new armour, same as those soldiers from Utah) on the surface massacring all before them, burning with blue flamethrowers any building they came upon., caterpillar tracked vehicle behind them with two large black boxes on the back, the tips on the front glowing white-pink as they tipped upwards, then continually fired balls of white out ahead, the balls exploding as they impacted the ground ahead, the boxes moving rightwards, the balls and the explosions moving rightwards at it moved. Flying wing bombers flying in the planets sky, dropping long large bombs over a city, causing large blue explosions, combined turning it to ash.

In one of the ships, Hotspur and Ric directed the battle from above, both then staring out at the large upwards leaning viewpoint, witnessing the death and destruction below. Both of them showed no sign of empathy on their faces. Instead, they displayed pride and dominance.

"And you saw all that?" The President asked as the hologram ended, his voice and face visibly shaken from what he'd just seen."No, I was young, and i never saw that, never really went off the planet, never went on those ships, growing up I was always going out of the house into the city, but... I think the Ring of the Moon showed it to my in my brain. It was like... a load of images flashing through my head, as if I was... I was blinking a lot." Freddy answered, pointing his left index finger at his forehead.

"A ring put images in your head?" The President asked again as he adjusted his glasses, incredulously and unsure if he understood that right. "According to ancient legend, the Ring has a sort of... memory, projecting events in minds, a, a sense of wiseness. I never really believed it myself." Flasheart explained.

"Do you think he could do that to us?" Jai asked, with a hint of voice in his voice. Flasheart shook his head. "I don't know. But I do know this: that thing with the nukes and the soldiers, those were just the opening acts. I fear the crescendo, which could be just as bad." Flasheart answered back. "Knowing what my uncle is truly like, I think so too." Freddy agreed. In those last few minutes, he had grown up a bit.

"Whilst I found love and beauty here, Hotspur saw the worst in Humanity." Flasheart summarised before the PM then cleared his throat. "Let's get some sleep. The exchange is tomorrow." The PM then spoke as he rubbed his eyes before he stood up, stretched himself a bit after sitting down for so long, then walked out the door, the President following suit. Flasheart looked leftwards at Freddy, who shrugged in response as a police woman stepped into the room, a bunch of sleeping bags in her arms. And a minute later, she opened to door to leave, moved her right hand up to switch off the light, looking over her right shoulder to see Flasheart, Freddy, Sara, Jai and Paul lying on the floor around the table in the sleeping bags she'd brought in, Flasheart lying on top of his bag on his stomach, his tail over his right hand side, yet looked comfortable. The officer then clicked the light switch, the lights going out, bathing the room in darkness, as she stepped out and closed the door.

And that's chapter 20 done! Hope you enjoyed it! Please leave a vote!
