Chapter 19
Here it is, chapter 19! Hope you enjoy it!
Past
Flasheart and Jessica stood outside in the fields on a perfectly clear night sky, the stars twinkling above in all their beauty. Hotspur was inside watching TV. He had recently intensified his reading, particular about history, specifically the world wars, even looking in their military stuff books (ranks, uniforms, tactics). Jessica had rigged up an old telescope and was stargazing. "Think we can see your homeworld, Flasheart?" She asked, Flasheart on her rigth as she peeked through the telescope. "I don't know. Even for a Weren like me, from such an advance civilisation, sometimes the science of space and distance confuses me." Flasheart said back as Jessica moved away from the telescope, allowing Flasheart to step leftwards to peek into the telescope himself. "It's amazing I haven't been found here yet." Flasheart spoke. "Yes. Do think want to reveal yourself?" Jessica asked, as he stopped looking and looked leftwards at her. "No. From what I've seen on Earth at the moment, your people are not ready to be learn of other life. In fact, I wonder if you ever will be."
Present
"I still believe I was right now, as I was then. I've seen what's happened between then and now." Flasheart said, staring at the President and the PM. "Yeah. I don't think that would've been a good time either. Then with the Iraq War, xenophobia at the time. And now, rising tensions. You definitely were right not to come out." The PM spoke wisely. "Rising tensions? You Humans have lost faith, lost trust, in yourselves, in each other, and in humanity." Flasheart said back wisely. Meanwhile, Freddy sat in silence, still processing what he'd just learned.
Past
"Look at all those stars. You know it can take millions, sometimes billions of years for the light of a star to reach Earth. And by then it's possible that the star no longer exists." Jessica spoke. "The light of a star shines in the darkest of places." Flasheart spoke philosophically. "Jessica, what do you think of me?" Flasheart then asked, looking down at the ground. "What do you mean by that?" Jessica asked. "The fear you showed on your faces when you found me, it reminds of the characters from those films with monsters or the unknown. Like Alien, or Godzilla." Flasheart spoke. "By that, I mean the first film and the Roland Emmerich one." Jessica stepped rightwards a little closer to Flasheart. "That was then. And you know what about now? I'm glad we found you." Jessica replied, making Flasheart look leftwards at her face. "You saved my dad's life. We will always be grateful for that." Jessica explained. "You helped me. I was just returning the favour, as you say." Flasheart explained. "You also shown me new perspective. Made me realise that... knowing life is out there, our world is really a tiny pebble in the sea of the universe, which makes you feel... humble." Jessica added. "I don't know what would've happened to me if I haven't crashed here." Flasheart said, honestly with a sign before he leaned closer to Jessica. "The reason I kept coming was at first to know about your race, but also, because, I couldn't keep you out of my head for some reason. It's almost like, you're a magnet and I'm the metal you attract. And you know what? Remember all you told me about love? What I'm trying to say is,... I feel for you, Jessica. And I think I finally realise what you truly meant." Flasheart spoke as he and Jessica leaned a bit more closer to each other. "I...I...I... feel for you too, Flasheart. Not because of your intelligence and your non-human outside. But because of who you are, on the inside." Jessica replied, as they moved their heads towards each other, Flasheart moving his head a bit leftwards for Jessica to avoid his muzzle, their lips coming into contact with each other's and performing a kiss.
When Flasheart and Hotspur went back home that week, Flasheart promising he'd be back soon for little baby Freddy, Hotspur planned his revenge. He met up with a young but ambitious military officer called Ric, promising that if he helped him with what he had in mind, he'd be advanced. And so, during the next few days, as Flasheart claimed that he was preparing to be named Grand Growler, but he wasn't really giving it much thought. All he could think about was his little Freddy. In his dreams, he saw himself bringing Freddy to (in a way) his second homeworld, seeing Freddy run around by his side through the majestic grassy plains, the beautiful forests. And after a few days of being back, he said he was willing to wear the Ring of the Moon, take up the position of Grand Growler, he left on his own back to Earth. "I was planning to take up the position, and using my influence, try to bring Freddy home as something special, a creature of two worlds, a proof of love between species. But, sadly, well....You ask what happened to her. Well, here is what happened."
At the farm, he had arrived by daylight, his mood instantly uplifted seeing Jessica, his kissed him on arrival, and Freddy. Later after darkness, unbeknownst to him, a small transport ship landed down, having traveled to the location they were in by the information they had been provided by their superiors for the 'special mission' they were on, had a distant, but safe/reachable distance from the farm. Flasheart was in the lounge, holding Freddy in his arms when he heard a strange sound come from his ears. He looked rightwards out the window but saw nothing. He put Freddy down and walked out of the front door in silence. He sniffed as he walked across the grass. He heard and felt the window blowing on his fur, the owls hooting, noticing momentarily the peace and quietness, before suddenly smelling something Weren. He narrowed his eyes into the bushes up ahead, unsure about something before something poked out: Hotspur! Flasheart narrowed his eyes into confusion as to what his brother was doing there so unexpectedly when around Hotspurs rear, several other Weren soldiers (wearing armour suits and breathing gear) stood up out of the bushes, aiming their guns at him. His eyes widened as he then turned around leftwards and ran back to the house, getting down on all fours back towards the farmhouse, barged through the door and slammed it shut, a grey fur covered hand with only three fingers, no thumb, and small claws on each finger, closed the lock and stood with his back against the wall. "Flasheart, what was that?" Jessica's voice called out, the cry of Freddy filling the void that followed for a few seconds. "Hotspur. He's here. And he's brought help." Flasheart replied as he stepped away from the door, Steven staring at in concern from the end of the hallway. Suddenly the houses light's then all went dark. Flasheart looked over his left shoulder to see beams of light shining from outside through the windows. Something struck the wooden door, making it bang, a beam of light shining through the edges. Another bang followed a moment later, forcing the door down, Hotspur standing in the doorframe, light bathing him from the rear, a lot of anger in his eyes. Flasheart turned around leftwards to face him, holding his arms out at an angle by his sides as Steven retreated into the lounge. "What are you doing here, brother?" Flasheart asked him nervously. "I'm here for a little job, traitorous brother." Hotspur snarled back as he stepped forwards, Flasheart stepped back as he did. "What do you want?" Flasheart asked. "I want what you're too weak to have." Hotspur said back as they approached the rear of the hallway.
Hotspur then grabbed Flasheart's right arm with his left hand, shoved it out of its angle and pushed past him and around the corner into the lounge. He saw Jessica holding Freddy in her arms with Steven on her front right, as if he were protecting them. Flasheart then shot past Hotspurs right and stood in front of him again with his arms out wide. "What are you doing?" Flasheart roared, out of a disuse to protect those he love. Two of the soldiers then came into the room, standing on Hotspur's rear. "I'm here to put a stop to this. You, my own brother, and this! This... interacting with Fangens. Always staying with them, Reproducing with them. And when you say you going to be Grand Growler, you actually run away from your responsibilities! Deceived your own father, your own brother, your own people when they need you! And for what!? To go back to here, to them?! YOU PUT THEM OVER YOUR OWN SPECIES!" Hotspur roared with fury as he explained his actions. "If you want the Ring of the Moon, then you can have it!" Flasheart offered as Ric, stepped up to Hotspur, carrying the plant in its pot. "We found this in the other building, sir. Scanners show it has traces of Weren physiology." Ric spoke in Weren through his breathing gear, Hotspur staring it up and down. He then leaned forwards to Ric and whispered in Weren something to him, then he nodded and walked out, talking the plant with it.
Hotspur then stared at the trio behind Flasheart, his eyes glaring at bit longer at Freddy. Hotspur then gave a command in Weren to the soldiers behind him, who then put their guns down on the ground, went past him and both sides, Flasheart trying to block them, trying to punch the soldiers out, but they both quickly recovered, one of them then grabbed him and knocked him down onto the ground, the other carrying on. He looked up to see them come upon Steven and Jessica, the closest one and grabbed with strongly, his attempts at getting his arms out of the soldiers hands in vain as he was moved away from Jessica, the second soldier coming upon her. A scream coming from Jessica's mouth echoed through the house as the soldiers took Freddy in its hands, ignoring Jessica frantically grabbing at its body with her hands, before then it then secured Freddy (ignoring his cries) in his right arm, moved his left hand over to its belt, pulled out a knife and as quick as a flash it stabbed the shiny knife into Jessica's body. "NO!" Flasheart and Steven then screamed before the soldiers took holding Steven then bashed him one the head very hard with its gun (which, by pressing a button his armour, activated magnets which brought the gun into his right hand), causing him to call on the ground with a nasty cut on his head, the Ring of the Moon falling out of his pocket. Flasheart stared leftwards at Stevens body, silence and as still as stone for a moment before he then ran over to him, but the first soldier then grabbed his shoulders with both hands and stopped him, whilst Hotspur walked over to where the ring was, bent downwards and picked it up, a smile on his face as the soldiers put a black mask over his muzzle, blocking out his angry cries.
Hotspur then led them out of the door (Flasheart being dragged out by the two soldiers), yelling out an order in Weren to the rest of the soldiers, some of them aiming different weapons at the house. After they were all past that soldier, Blue flame emerging from metal in beams upon the house, brick and mortar melting from the super hot flame, the house soon crumbling apart. The soldiers turned around leftwards to face the action, Flasheart stared in horror as the house he'd made so many memories in burn down before the soldiers turned around rightwards, continuing their walk. He looked leftwards to see Ric was standing by the shed, seeing the flower in the black circular case with its glass cover in his hands. The cry of Freddy's coming made him look rightwards to see a sealed black metal container unit, that being carried across the field by one of the soldiers back to the transport, the flame reflecting in the metal. He was both confused and devastated, from what had just happened, but also why they were taking him somewhere else. "Don't worry about the offspring. He'll come home with me, stay with his uncle." Hotspur's voice called from behind, as he was marvelling at the destruction before he then looked down, his right hand going down, ripples of blue moving through his grey fur as reflected from the fire touching the ground, fingers and claws digging into the dirt, the hand slowly emerging up, dirt in the the grip of the clawed fingers, the hand turn around rightwards to show the dirt to the face of Hotspur, half bathed in darkness on the right, the left half rippling blue, and purple eyes full of nothing but anger. "Revenge will be mine." Hotspur vowed.
An hour or two later, having made it into Bristol, going down the dark empty roads, walking to an old looking empty building (which would become the care home run by Matron), went through the unlocked door, found the door to the basement, opened it, dragged Flasheart down o the basement and threw him down onto the floor, the only light being from the beams of light from the torches on their guns. The other soldiers, including Ric, then placed the plant and all the other Weren stuff Flasheart had from the shed around with him. Once they were done, Hotspur then stood before Flasheart. "These things will stay you, to rot, while you starve here. And don't worry. I'll take good care of Freddy, whilst I bring true leadership to our people." Hotspur spoke with a devilish grin before he then turned around rightwards and walked up the stairs. As he went up, Flasheart roared out with rage as he charged at Hotspur, grabbing his right leg with his hands, wrestling with it, as Hotspur then kicked him, causing him to fall down on the floor. Flasheart looked up as he saw Hotspur run up to the top of the stars, turned around leftwards face his brother one last time with a look of rage, before slamming the door. Flasheart let out a roar of rage before saw his shadow reflected from something behind him, so he looked over his left shoulder to see that, unbeknownst to both of them, the Ring of the Moon had fallen out of Hotspurs suit with his leg was being wrestled, now shiny in full glory in the dark room.
