Chapter 18
Here it is, chapter 18! Hope you enjoy it!
Past
"Next time I returned, I brought Hotspur with me again. Jessica was in the city at that time, so it was a short visit. We also, since we now had a fully coordinated route, came by the usual way this time, by what Human scientists would roughly call an artificial wormhole, bending space in a controlled way. Meant no more time dilation. That's also how Freddy and the fleet arrived." Hotspur walked into the lounge, sat down on the sofa, let out a bored sign, as he heard footsteps, looked rightwards to see Flasheart enter. "You all right, brother?" He asked, in English as he sat down to his right. "Y-y-yes." Hotspur spoke, trying his best to say it in English. Flasheart smiled. "See? I told you you'd get it." Flasheart praised, then looked over his right shoulder, saw the remote, picked it up with his right hand, pointed it at the TV and switched it on, showing the news. It showed Hurricane Ivan causing damaged across the Caribbean. Both stared at the destruction with concern. "In September 2004, Hurricane Ivan struck the Caribbean and Texas. For some reason, he grew interested in the weather on Earth, which is a bit less dangerous." In the days that followed during their brief stay, Hotspur was curious about the weather event he'd seen on the TV, reading books about the weather. Flasheart was happy he learning a bit about human culture.
They shortly departed thereafter, returning to their home world, but as they got out of the ship, an older looking Weren wearing the outfit those in pack leadership positions wore approached, with two soldiers on either side. The two brothers looked at each other, unsure about it. "Are we in trouble?" Hotspur whispered to Flasheart (on his left) in the Weren language, to which he shrugged. So they both approached the trio and stood rigid. "May the Moon shine upon you." The centre Weren greeted. "May the Moon shine upon you." Flasheart and Hotspur said in unison, whilst Flasheart noticed in the centre hold the Ring of the Moon in the fingers on his left hand. "What's with the soldiers? And why is someone like you here greeting us?" Hotspur asked. "It is time. Your father has bathed in moonlight." The centre Weren spoke. "Basically, that means our father had died. Bathed in moonlight is basically a funeral." The centre Weren then held up the Ring of the Moon, pointing his left arm rightwards in Flasheart's direction, whose eyes widened in shock and a hint of fear. "The gathering of packs have decided that, in memory of your father, you, Flasheart, are to assume to powers of Grand Growler, as well as the Ring of the Moon." The centre Weren explained. "The gathering of packs is when the leaders of the packs gather for important occasions. Grand Growler is basically the most powerful Weren, a mantle passed from father to son, pack to pack, generation to generation. In all of my, uh, arrogance?, I had forgotten about my heritage and the responsibilities that would have befallen upon me, which I always thought I'd have more time." Flasheart stared at the ring in silence, deep in thought. He knew that if he did this, he'd have no more missions, which meant no more going to Earth, no more seeing Jessica, which his heart told him not to stop. But he suddenly realised that he also had a duty to his own people. He glanced rightwards at Hotspur, who had turned his body sideways to stare at him with a proud smile on his face. So he then took a deep breath and exhaled loudly. "We'll do it tomorrow, in ceremony." Flasheart announced, hoping it would buy time for him to think. "Very well. I will inform the pack leaders to be ready tomorrow." The centre Weren replied before he then stomped his right foot twice, the soldiers turning around leftwards, the creature Weren doing so slower and when they all faced the other way, they walked out, leaving the two brothers alone. Hotspur smiled at Flasheart. "Wanting to start your rule in style. Good for you, brother." He said, Flasheart just staring ahead at the departing trio.
Then he turned rightwards and darted back at the ship, Hotspuw smile falling. "What are you doing?" Hotspur asked as Flasheart climbed up the ladder to the ship. "I don't know. I need to clear my head." Flasheart said back as he looked over his left shoulder. "But the ceremony..." Hotspur replied, seeing Flasheart get into the cockpit, before he groaned and ran up to the ladder and climbed it up a quick as he'd ever done so, getting up and in just as Flasheart was about to shut the door. "You coming?" He asked, looking leftwards at him. "Coming? Coming? Where are you going? What are you doing?" Hotspur asked, at first incredulous, but becoming angry as the door closed. "I need to clear my head. So... I guess... back to Earth?" Flasheart asked, having just decided. "Earth? You want to back to that... Fangen planet? When you have other duties?" Hotspur asked coldly, as Flasheart fired the engines. "Well, I've closed the door, so, guess we're going together." Flasheart smiled, gesturing to the other chair on his rear left. Hotspur groaned in a grumble like way before he sat down in the other seat, fastening his seat belt. And with that, they launched the ship, went up into space, went through a wormhole, the same kind Freddy and the fleet used, and arrived back on Earth. They came upon the farmhouse at sunset, Flasheart knocked on the door (Hotspur on his rear right), and a few seconds later Steven opened the door, and upon seeing it was Flasheart, a smile appeared on his face. "Hey, you're back. And perfect timing." He said softly and happily. Flasheart narrowed his eyes as Steven gestured for them to come in, both of them slowly entering, they both sniffed and smelled something unusual, which made them raised their eyebrows. "Come here." Steven whispered as he beckoned them to follow him into the lounge. They brothers looked at each other before Flasheart stared at Steven for a second and then stepped over to him.
Steven led them into the lounge, where they saw Jessica kneeling before a crib, gurgling sounds coming from it. She looked rightwards/upwards to see them, and upon seeing Flasheart she smiled happily. "Hey, Flasheart. Come here." She whispered over him. Flasheart narrowed his eyes in confusion before she slowly stepped forwards, over towards the crib. And as his line of sight came over the crib, he saw something inside. As he came upon Jessica's right, he looked downwards to see what was inside in full gloom: a little baby Human boy, with grey hair, purple eyes, and protruding from a hole in the nappy, a grey furred tail. "Remember when I touched the Petri dish? Well, I think it caused Weren DNA to somehow mix with mine, conceiving this beauty." Jessica explained whilst Flasheart's eyes widened as he gazed upon the baby as Jessica picked the baby up in her hands, holding it for him. "He came from me, with DNA from you, Flasheart. So he's Your son. Freddy." Jessica added. Flasheart moved his left hand up to the baby's face, the baby letting out a coo as it opened its eyes, looking at the hand in awe. "I think he likes you." Jessica spoke as Flasheart stroked the baby's chin with his left hand, the baby cooing in response.

"Wait! You mean... that's me?!" Freddy exclaimed in shock, all eyes looking at him. "If you're his father, and he says he remembers from his mind, then that would mean..." Sara began to say. "So... that woman, Jessica,... is his mother." Jai finished for her, his mouth slowly rebooting, allowing to speak easier. "Yes." Flasheart answered, Freddy staring down at the ground in shock. "My mother." He whispered to himself. "You know what I've just realised? This means your...half Weren... half Human! You're a... hybrid, Freddy!" Jai exclaimed. "Wait. He only remembers her from his past. So what happened to her?" Paul asked as Flasheart's expression turned grim.
Past
Hotspur stared at the baby in shock as Jessica held the baby out to Flasheart, who took it in his hands. He had a happy smile on his face, his tail wagging as he turned leftwards to face Hotspur. "Hey, brother, the Humans have a word for someone whose brother has a baby. An uncle. So... you're now Uncle Hotspur." Flasheart spoke as Jessica came up on his right, leaned against his side, his her head against his head with a smile, Flasheart glancing back at her. Hotspur stared at this activity with wide eyes and gaping mouth, his breath intensifying rapidly. He ran out of the room, out the front door and stood out in darkness of the night his breathing still intense, his hands on his knees, his upper body bending forwards. Then his legs gave away, making drop down onto the grassy ground, his eyes staring down at a puddle, his face reflected. "Something changed that night inside Hotspur. His heart snapped." Hotspur's breathing slowed as his eyes narrowed and his mouth formed into an angry smile. "He choose those Fangen over his own race. I will make them pay." He snarled to himself.
