Chapter 2
They didn't plan to spend the whole afternoon together.
It just... happened.
After the café, after the audition decision had been made but before anything became official, Lena suggested they walk. Miu agreed without thinking too much about it, letting her follow Lena down streets that felt half-familiar, half-new.
They walked slowly, unhurried, conversation slipping easily into place. It surprised Miu how natural it felt like they were picking up a thread that had never fully been cut.
They talked about work. Lena explained filming schedules, long days, the pressure of public expectations. Miu listened, genuinely curious, asking questions she'd never thought to ask back when Lena was just "that girl who wanted to act."
"And you?" Lena asked. "What have you been up to all these years?"
Miu shrugged. "Nothing exciting. Just... life."
"Those are usually the most interesting stories," Lena said.
Miu smiled at that.

They ended up at a quiet park near the river, sitting on a bench with coffees growing cold between them.
"Are you scared?" Lena asked suddenly.
Miu blinked. "Of what?"
"Of doing this," Lena said. "Of stepping into a world you don't belong to."
Miu thought about it. About the casting room. About the kiss that still felt unreal.
"A little," she admitted. "But I trust you, P'Lena."
The words slipped out easily, naturally.
Lena's expression softened.
"That means more than you think," she said.
They sat in comfortable silence, watching people pass by. Miu noticed the way Lena absentmindedly tapped her fingers against her knee, the way she squinted slightly when the sun hit her eyes.
Small details.
The kind you only notice when you're paying attention.

Over the next few days, they kept meeting.
Not officially. Not scheduled.
Just coffee after work. Late dinners. Long conversations that stretched past midnight.
They talked about university how young they'd been, how uncertain. About birthdays they shared but celebrated apart, sending messages instead of cake.
"Next time," Miu said one night, half-joking. "We should actually celebrate together."
Lena raised an eyebrow. "You're suggesting that now?"
"Why not?" Miu said. "We keep missing it."
Lena smiled. "Then it's a deal."
They learned each other again.
Lena discovered Miu liked quiet places, disliked crowds, and laughed hardest when she wasn't trying to be funny. Miu learned that Lena wasn't always confident that she overthought things, worried more than she let on.
Sometimes, they talked about the series.
Sometimes, they didn't.
And somehow, those moments felt more important.

The night before filming was set to begin, they sat in Lena's car, parked outside Miu's house.
Neither of them moved to leave.
"Tomorrow's the first day," Miu said softly.
"Yeah."
"Do you think it'll be awkward?" Miu asked.
Lena shook her head. "No. I think we'll be okay."
Miu looked at her. "Because?"
"Because we're comfortable," Lena said simply. "And because we're honest with each other."
Miu nodded.
She believed her.
As she reached for the door handle, Lena spoke again.
"Miu?"
"Yes, P'Lena?"
"I'm glad it's you."
Miu paused, heart tightening just a little.
"Me too," she said.
She stepped out of the car, watching Lena drive away before heading inside.
Neither of them said it.
But something had already begun to form quietly, carefully, in the space between shared memories and new beginnings.
And when filming finally started, it wouldn't feel like strangers pretending anymore.

The studio was already awake when Miu arrived the next morning.
Lights glowed overhead, equipment rolled across the floor, voices overlapped in practiced efficiency. It was louder than she expected, busier, sharper.
She paused just inside the entrance, gripping her script, head lowered, suddenly very aware that she didn't belong here.
"You made it early," Lena said.
Miu looked up and froze.
Lena didn't look like Lena today. Not the woman from the café, not the woman she was with just hours ago sitting inside the car. This Lena was styled, polished, dressed in character, hair falling perfectly, posture confident, eyes sharper somehow.
For a brief moment, Miu forgot to breathe.
Miu let out a small breath. "I didn't want to be late."
"Come on," Lena said gently. "Stick with me."
And Miu did without hesitation.
She didn't miss the way a few people glanced at them curious, measuring, already speculating. She wondered how many of them had watched the audition tape. How many had replayed that kiss.
They reached the dressing rooms.
"This one's yours," Lena said, pointing. "If you need anything, just message me."
Miu smiled nervously. "You're acting like this is my first day of school."
Lena laughed. "Feels like it, doesn't it?"

The wardrobe fitting took longer than expected. The stylist fussed over fabrics, colors, measurements, occasionally stepping back to squint at Miu like she was a puzzle slowly being solved.
"You look good," the stylist said finally. "Very... natural."
Miu wasn't sure whether to be flattered or terrified.
When she stepped out, Lena was waiting.
For a second, neither of them spoke.
Lena's gaze lingered, not inappropriate, not obvious, just thoughtful.
"This suits you," Lena said, eyes glimmering with something she can't decipher, smile soft. "The character, I mean." she quickly added.
Miu looked down at herself, embarrassed by how Lena's stare and smile made her feel something in her chest.
"I still don't feel like her."
"You will," Lena said gently. "Give it time."
They rehearsed quietly in a corner of the set. No cameras. No crew watching closely. Just the two of them and the script between their hands.
Their characters were supposed to be familiar with each other, comfortable, easy, intimate in a way that came from years of shared moments.
Ironically, that was the easiest part.
They read lines softly, testing tone, pacing, pauses. Occasionally, their fingers brushed when turning pages. Each time, Miu felt it, a spark of awareness she immediately pushed aside.
Lena noticed.
She always did.
"Let's take it slow," Lena said after a moment. "You don't have to force anything."
Miu nodded. "Okay."

"Positions, please!"
The call echoed across the studio, sharp and sudden.
Miu's stomach flipped. This was it.
The first scene was simple, a conversation across a small kitchen table. No touching. No dramatic emotions. Just two people talking like it meant something.
The director raised a hand.
"Rolling."
The room quieted.
"Action."
Miu spoke her first line.
Her voice wavered, just slightly, then steadied. She focused on Lena's eyes, the way she'd been told to do. On listening instead of performing.
And it worked.
The world shrank.
The crew disappeared.
There was only Lena, leaning forward, expression open and attentive, reacting in real time.
When the director called "Cut," Miu blinked, disoriented.
"Good," she said. "Again."
They did it again. And again.
By the fourth take, something shifted. Miu stopped thinking about where to place her hands, how to stand. She just... existed.
Lena smiled at her after the final cut, small, approving.
"You did great," she murmured.
Miu exhaled. "I didn't mess up?"
"Not even close."
By the time they wrapped for the day, exhaustion settled in the good kind.
As they walked off set together, Miu realized something that startled her.
The studio no longer felt overwhelming.
Lena no longer felt distant.
And whatever was forming, subtle, unnamed, restrained, had begun not with a kiss, or a scene, or a script......but with time.
And when Miu lay awake that night, replaying the day in fragments, one thought surfaced quietly, persistently:
This is only the beginning.
