Chapter 3
Filming ended later than usual that day.
The last scene had taken longer than expected, not because of mistakes, but because the director kept asking them to run it again. Slower. Softer. Less obvious.
By the time the studio lights dimmed and the crew began packing up, exhaustion sat heavy on everyone's shoulders.
"You two did well today," the director said, glancing between them. "The chemistry feels... natural."
Miu smiled politely. Lena nodded, used to comments like that.
They walked out of the studio together, scripts tucked under their arms, the evening air cooler against their skin.
"Do you want to eat?" Lena asked. "There's a place nearby. Quiet."
Miu hesitated for only a second. "Okay."
Miu quickly sent a quick text to her boyfriend, telling him about her and Lena's plans
Lena noticed it, just as Miu was sending her text, Lena visibly noted the little heart next to a name she knows.
Something in her heart felt heavy not because she was hurt or jealous but because she cares about Miu more than she wants to admit and Lena knows more than anyone how cutthroat the industry is. How cruel some fans tend to be if they knew.
And the thought of Miu getting all the hate, the thought of people targeting Miu is something Lena does not want to happen.
"God, no, not Miu" Lena thought to herself. Miu who's so gentle. Miu who is a ray of sunshine. Miu whose smile can turn every frown upside down.
Something inside Lena brew. She would do anything to keep Miu away from the noise. She would do anything to keep that gentle smile on Miu's face alive
Her mind is only telling her one thing: Protect Miu at all costs.
Miu, on the other hand, oblivious to the chaos inside Lena's mind. But not oblivious at how Lena's posture became slightly rigid, how her stare became sharper, how her hand curled up into a fist
But she didn't say, didn't pry because whatever is bothering Lena, she knows the latter will tell her
And so, she waits....patiently, understandably.

The restaurant was small and nearly empty, tucked away from the main road. They chose a corner table, shoulders angled toward each other out of habit.
For a while, they talked about harmless things the day's scenes, a missed cue, how sore Miu's feet were from standing too long.
Then Lena grew quiet. "There it is again" Miu thought.
"You okay?" Miu asked.
Lena took a breath. "Yeah. I just... there's something I think we should talk about. Before things get complicated."
Miu's chest tightened slightly. "Okay."
Lena folded her hands together on the table.
"You're doing great," she said first. "And I'm not saying this because something's wrong. I just think it's important we're clear with each other."
Miu nodded, listening.
"When you're in a GL," Lena continued carefully, "people don't just watch the show. They watch you. Everything you do. Every interaction."
Miu frowned faintly. "I figured as much."
"Some fans expect the actors to be... real," Lena said. "Not just on screen. They want to believe the relationship exists outside the series too."
Miu looked down at her glass. "Even if it doesn't?"
"Especially if it doesn't," Lena said quietly.
"Sometimes the line between acting and reality gets blurry. Not because we make it that way but because people want it to be."
Silence settled between them.
"That's why I wanted to talk about boundaries," Lena said. "About where we stand. I don't want us to feel like we have to force anything. Chemistry like ours it works because it's natural. The moment we start performing for fan service, it stops being real."
Miu swallowed.
"I have a boyfriend," she said softly.
Lena didn't react, not visibly.
"I know," she said. "I just wanted you to say it again here. Honestly."
Miu looked up. "Does that bother you?"
Lena shook her head. "No. Having a boyfriend isn't a bad thing."
Miu exhaled slightly, relief flickering across her face.
"But," Lena added gently, "it needs to be handled carefully."
Miu nodded. "I understand."
"It doesn't have to be public," Lena said. "But it shouldn't be treated like a secret either. Some fans can be... rough. They don't like feeling lied to."
Miu's fingers tightened around her glass. "I didn't realize it could be that intense."
"It can be," Lena said. "That's why I wanted us to talk now. Before expectations get placed on us that we didn't agree to."
Miu hesitated. "What about you?"
"What about me?"
"Your boundaries," Miu said. "What do you expect from this?"
Lena thought for a moment.
"Respect," she said. "Honesty. And space to do our jobs well without pretending to be something we're not."
Miu nodded slowly. "I want that too."
They sat quietly for a moment, the weight of the conversation settling.
"I'm glad you told me," Miu said finally. "About all of this."
"So am I," Lena replied. "I don't want you to feel trapped by this role."
"I don't want you getting all the heat just because you have a life outside our series," Lena continued sincerity and softness visible in her big brown orbs.
Miu's heart ached, not because she was hurt but because Lena cared enough for her. This was what's been bothering her, and Miu couldn't help but feel something inside her swell.
Miu met her gaze and held her hands. "Thank you, P'Lena." Miu said with all sincerity.
Lena, slightly taken aback by the skinship, smiled shyly but nodded.

Outside, the city buzzed on, indifferent. As they walked side by side toward the car, Miu felt something quietly shift.
The boundaries were clear now.
And somehow, knowing exactly where the lines were made the space between them feels more charged, not less.
Because awareness had replaced uncertainty.
And restraint, she realized, could be just as powerful as desire.
"I'll call my driver," Miu said, pulling out her phone.
Lena glanced at the screen. "You don't have to."
Miu looked up. "It's fine."
"Your boyfriend's busy tonight, right?" Lena asked.
Miu hesitated, then nodded. "He has a prior commitment."
"Mhmm, and your driver?" Lena asked.
Miu checked again, frowning slightly. "Out of reach."
Lena didn't hesitate. "I'll take you home."
Miu's eyes widened, her immediate response was a shake of her head. "P'Lena, no. Our houses are in completely opposite directions."
"It's fine," Lena said reassuringly. "I don't mind."
"You'll get home late."
"I already am," Lena replied. "Come on."
Miu laughed softly, nervous. "You're really stubborn."
Lena smiled. "Only when I'm sure. Plus, I wouldn't rest comfortably knowing you're not home safe yet"
The certainty in her tone made Miu pause and made her heart tugged.
"Alright," she said finally. "But only because I don't want to argue."

Lena's car was quiet, clean, understated, faintly scented with something warm and familiar.
Miu settled into the passenger seat, smoothing her skirt instinctively, feeling suddenly more aware of how close everything felt. Lena adjusted the mirrors, then pulled out smoothly into traffic.
For a few minutes, neither of them spoke.
The city lights blurred past the windows. Soft music played low from the speakers — something mellow, almost too fitting.
"You okay?" Lena asked eventually, glancing over.
"Yeah," Miu said quickly. "Just tired."
"Mhm."
They drove in comfortable silence, the kind that didn't demand to be filled. Lena rested one hand casually on the steering wheel, the other draped loosely near the console.
Miu found herself watching her, the concentration in her eyes, the ease with which she navigated the road.
"You've always liked night drives," Miu said suddenly, surprised by her own voice.
Lena glanced at her. "You remember that?"
Miu smiled faintly. "You used to say the city was more honest at night."
Lena chuckled. "I did say that."
The car felt smaller after that.
Not cramped, just... intimate.
Miu shifted slightly, aware of the way her knee was angled toward Lena's, how easily she could reach out if she wanted to.
She didn't.
Neither did Lena.
But the awareness lingered.
They stopped at a red light.
Lena tapped her fingers lightly against the steering wheel, the same habit Miu had noticed before. The glow from the streetlight softened her features, catching in her eyes.
"You were really brave tonight," Lena said quietly.
Miu blinked. "For talking about everything?"
"For being honest," Lena replied. "Not everyone is."
Miu swallowed. "I didn't want things to get messy."
"Me neither."
The light changed. Lena drove on.
Miu leaned her head back against the seat, closing her eyes briefly.
This is fine, she told herself.
This is just a ride home.
But her chest felt tight in a way that had nothing to do with exhaustion.
They reached Miu's street later than expected.
Lena slowed the car, pulling up in front of the gate.
"Here we are," she said. Miu didn't move right away.
"Thank you," she said finally. "For tonight. For... everything." Lena nodded. "Anytime."
There was a pause.
Miu reached for the door handle then hesitated.
"I'm glad we talked," she said softly.
"So am I," Lena replied.
Their eyes met. Just for a second.
Not long enough to mean anything.
Long enough to feel it.
Miu opened the door, stepping out into the quiet night. She turned back once, giving Lena a small smile.
"Drive safe, P'Lena. Text me when you get home"
Lena returned it. "Will do. Goodnight, Miu."
As the car pulled away, Miu stood there longer than necessary, heart beating just a little faster than it should have.
And Lena, driving home in the opposite direction, realized something she hadn't allowed herself to think all evening.
Boundaries were clear.
But feelings didn't always respect lines even when no one crossed them.
