Chapter 11

Dan pov

I was nauseatingly infatuated with Phillip Lester. The properties of himself as a whole add to that dazzling personality of his. I didn't understand how any of this worked. I mean, sure I've dated over my hundred years, but never someone like Phil.

Just the way his eyes twinkled to the way the corners of his mouth perked up when he was having a laugh.

I received a call while we were out walking. I didn't want to be rude so I sent it to voicemail. I know, a vampire adjusting to modern technology must seem weird but it makes things easier.

My phone kept vibrating in my pocket. "Either you're very happy to see me or someone really needs to reach you Dan." Giggled Phil.

My cheeks immediately flushed, or they would have if I had any blood pumping through my veins. Suddenly I was grateful to be a pale undead twat. I do have to admit that is was a rather clever remark.

I then politely excused myself and answered the call the next time it rang which was almost immediately. I didn't have really any friends so I was not sure whom it would be ringing me. The number says blocked caller. I had fifteen missed calls from them.

When I picked up I informed them they have the wrong number and then promptly hung up, not in the mood to deal with anybody who isn't Phil right now.  The person called again, almost the second after I had hung up. I waited for a few rings to go by and then answered again.

"Listen here Dan." A rough voice said. I could daintily recognize the familiarity of the speaker. It couldn't be him.

"You have a court sentence with the high council. On the charges of preventing a seedling from turning to our side and then telling them about our world. You have three days to figure out your defense. Goodbye . May you have luck with you." explained the voice which I now recognized as the supreme vampire court judge. I knew it sounded familiar.

I stepped back to Phil, pretending like nothing was wrong. Except the fact I couldn't stop shaking, a habit I had never grown out of after what happened when I was younger. But that's a story for another day.

For now I was spaced out and thinking about how I could possibly win the case against some of the strictest vampires known to our kind. But with Phil by my side, I knew things couldn't go completely wrong.

"Is everything alright?" he inquired, noticing my twitching and disassociated look. I would not allow myself to worry him. So I smiled and explained how it was just a friend being an arse.

Phil didn't seem to sure about my response but didn't push for more answers. I just wanted to spend time with him and not think of the impending court case that will decide my fate.

We continued to walk down the street until we reached my home. I had to run in quickly because the sun would be beginning to rise at any moment now. I need to be safe in the darkness that my black curtains provided. He struggled to catch up at my speedy pace, but we managed to lock everything up tight before a glimmer of sunlight even peaked its head around the corner.

"You know Dan, you can trust me. " Phil stated, his icy blue eyes staring into my chocolate brown ones.

       " I know. And that's all I'll ever need. "

Authors note:

Thank you so much for over 200 reads! Here's a slightly lengthier chapter because that made me happy. Thanks for reading.
