Chapter 9
Dan pov
Nearing nightfall, we joined hands and walked out of my home together. I could feel the warmth of his hands. I had forgotten what it felt like to be that human and have qualities such as that.
It felt so good. It's been some time since anyone could make my stomach feel upside down and inside out. I didn't want it to end.
We walked down the street, hands swinging to the step. Nothing would be better. I hardly knew him, yet I couldn't picture someone else in his place. I craved his company. And he mine, I hope.
The bakery was just around the corner and my fangs could taste the sweet cream of their pastries from the smell wafting from the shack.
Phil looked over at me and quickly looked forward again but with a grin on his face. Funny how things can happen so fast but be so right.
We finally arrived and set down at a table near the back window. It wasn't too busy, just a few people here and there. I asked what he wanted and he said "surprise me". So I made my way up to the counter and got us two chocolate chip muffins.
We both scoffed them down in an instant, the two of us being famished. I couldn't stop staring. Even eating, he was adorable. This felt right. I'm glad I came into the alley to hunt that night.
