Undyne was sat at her desk, watching Mew Mew Kissy Cutie on her giant TV in her pyjamas while eating a carton of ice-cream. She heard a knock on the lab door. She paused the anime and opened the door.

'H-Hey, Papyrus...wait...' Undyne said, before realising she was still in her pyjamas. 'Uhhh... J-just a moment.'

Undyne ran off and got changed before returning. 'So, what are you...S-Sans?!'

She noticed Sans unconscious in Papyrus's arms.

'He fell down. Please...help him,' Papyrus said, tears in his eyes.

'Papyrus, I... I can't...' Undyne told him.

'But everyone knows that you saved people who fell down. You have to.'

'You don't understand, Papyrus, the others they... It didn't...'

'Undyne, please. I can't lose him.'

'...This way.'

Undyne walked toward the entrance to the True Lab as Papyrus followed.

'The bathroom? Why are we going in there?' Papyrus asked.

'It's not a bathroom. It's a disguise. J-just come in,' Undyne said. Papyrus went into the lift. Undyne pressed a button and the lift went down to the True Lab. They left the lift and Undyne led Papyrus to a room with a few hospital beds.

'P-put him on here,' she said, pointing to a bed. Papyrus placed Sans on the bed as Undyne went to a drawer and pulled out a very small syringe. She went to a cupboard and took out a packet full of a red substance. Undyne filled the syringe and then, unwillingly, injected it into Sans's arm.

'Is he going to be okay?' Papyrus asked.

'Papyrus...I'm so sorry,' Undyne said.

'What is it? Is he not going to make it?' asked Papyrus, worriedly.

'He is...I-it's just... The stuff I injected into him is DETERMINATION. Because monster bodies can't house as much DETERMINATION as humans, the others...their b-bodies started to melt a-and fuse together until...'

An Amalgamate suddenly bounded into the room and up to Undyne.

'I-I'll feed you later. G-go away,' Undyne said.

They refused to leave. Undyne yelled a bit fiercer this time. 'I s-said go away!'

The Amalgamate slinked off.

'So... he's gonna become...one of those?' Papyrus asked, shocked.

'I-I'm not sure. I put in about half the amount of DETERMINATION as I did with the Amalgamates. I'm not sure if it will make any difference, though. There's still a high chance that he will,' Undyne replied.

'So how long un-' Papyrus began but was interrupted.

'UNDYYYYNE!' a robotic voice rang out through the lab.

'Napstaton...' Undyne sighed.

Napstaton burst into the room. 'Oh, there you are, Undyne! Just came so you could do some more work on my EX form!'

'Napstaton, I-I'm kinda busy right n-now,' Undyne told him, gesturing to Papyrus and the unconscious Sans.

'Oh, I see, you're trying to play god again. Undyne, darling, when are you going to realise that you should just give up. You don't want to keep torturing people but making them melt and fuse, do you? Just let the kid rest in peace and come work on my body,' Napstaton said.

'Heh...you know, my bro idolised you. He watched your show every day. He's gonna be crushed when he finds out you wanted him to die just so you could get what you want.' Papyrus said.

'He's a fan?! I didn't know!' Napstaton said.

'Well, he was. He can't be one if he's dead, like you seem to wish,' Papyrus retorted.

'Now, now, there's no need to...' Napstaton said.

'Very shiny, sleek body you got there. It would be a shame if something were to...' Papyrus created a circle of bones, surrounding Napstaton, 'h a p p e n   t o   i t.'

'W-whoa. Papyrus, calm d-down. There's no need t-to be violent!' Undyne said, worriedly. Papyrus sighed and made the bones disappeared.

'I-I'm sorry...I wasn't thinking straight...I'm just so worried,' Papyrus said.

'You know, if he's a fan, you could call me when he wakes up. That way, he gets to have a wonderful experience before he melts and... well, you know,' Napstaton offered, kindly.

'Thanks,' Papyrus said.

'I'd better get going. Bye bye!' Napstaton said, leaving.

Papyrus sighed, 'I still fucking hate him. Anyway, how long until Sans wakes up?'

'Well, it took the others a few days but it may take longer because of the smaller amount of DETERMIN-.'

'Uhhh...' Sans shifted as his eye sockets opened. 'Papyrus?'

'Bro!' Papyrus said, pulling Sans into a hug. 'I'm so glad you're okay!'

'What happened?' Sans asked, dazed.

'You fell down but Undyne saved you,' Papyrus told him.

'Really? Thank you!' Sans turned to Undyne.

'No. Don't t-thank me. I shouldn't be thanked for what I did, for what w-will happen to y-y-you,' Undyne said, turning away.

'What do you mean?' Sans asked.

Undyne explained the amalgamates and DETERMINATION to Sans. He didn't understand most of it, but he got the gist.

'I'm going to...melt?' he said worriedly.

'There's a 99% chance you will,' Undyne said.

'B-but I don't want to...I can't... If i do, I'll never join the Royal Guard... No one will want to be my friend... I...I... I can't!' Tears started rolling down Sans's face. Papyrus hugged Sans tightly.

'It'll be okay. Hey, guess who stopped by and said he'd visit when you woke up,' Papyrus said.

'Who?' Sans asked.

'Napstaton,' Papyrus told him.

'Really?' Sans said, noticeably happier.

'Yep,' Papyrus said.

'Wowie! When will he come?' Sans asked, excitedly.

'I-I could call him now,' Undyne offered.

Undyne called Napstaton, who came over immediately. Papyrus watched as Sans and the robot talked. He may have hated Napstaton, but he was glad his bro was happy.
