"Today, we will be learning how to hunt in the dense forest we call home. You will need to know it for until you transition to the Starfall. So, get down low, like this. Good, good! You're doing great! And only for new apprentices! Wow! Pretend I'm a squirrel. Stalk up to me, and then pounce on me! Great!" Kestrelspots was training Sandypaw and Swallowpaw again. "I think both of you are ready to try on a real piece of prey. Check for any scent of prey." Kestrelspots instructed and both of them nodded before opening their mouth.
          "I think I caught a scent of.. thrush! Yes, thrush!" Sandypaw meowed while Swallowpaw caught its scent as well. They both stalked towards the scent and saw the thrush singing in the trees. Sandypaw went into a bush so she wouldn't be seen, then quietly climbed the tree. The thrush was still singing. She leapt onto the branch the thrush was on silently, and it cracked, making the thrush fly away in alarm. She muttered something and then yowled for help as the branch almost fell, making her slide down. "Help! Help! Help me! Please!" She called for help as she tried to get back up. She slipped but managed to get up to a higher, but more stable branch. Her tail was tucked in fearfully as Swallowpaw climbed the tree.
         "Don't go onto my branch! It'll crack and we'll both die! Leave me, brother!" She wailed as Swallowpaw put a paw on the branch. Suddenly, Kestrelspots shot there and the branch cracked, but before it could break, she threw the apprentice to where her brother was, on the ground. She landed with a thump but landed on moss, and the branch broke between the apprentices' eyes, and Kestrelspots plummeted down, landing with a ear-splitting crack at the bottom. Swallowpaw raced over to his mentor and she just lay there motionlessly. Suddenly, her chest slowly and strangely rise and fell.
        "This is.. is it.." She rasped. "Where I die.. just like for..told.." She weakly meowed to Swallowpaw. "Tell.. Tell Hailstar.. I saved.. Sandy..paw.. and.. make.. Running-" She suddenly stopped and her body stopped moving.
         "No.. no.. stay with me, Kestrelspots! Don't die! Hailstar needs you!" Swallowpaw cried. "Sandypaw, help me with Kestrelspots! We need to get her back to camp and to the medicine den!" Sandypaw nodded and helped Swallowpaw heave the body back to camp, their noses filling with the reek of death. When they got back to camp, they dropped the body and called for Hazeltalon, Mosspaw, Runningshadow and Hailstar. They came bolting from the dens.
         "What happened?! Is somebody-" Hazeltalon meowed, cutting short after seeing the body.
         "She saved me from falling from a tree.." Sandypaw mewed quietly. "I told them to leave me.. this is all my fault!" She wailed.
        "Before she fell asleep, she said something about foretelling something and to make Running something.." Swallowpaw meowed to Hailstar. The big tom just stood there, looking at his mates and deputy's body. He dipped his head and called for the Clan before going onto the Bigtree.
        "I say these words before StarClan, so that Kestrelspots may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of ThicketClan will be Runningshadow. Swallowpaw's new mentor will be Liondust."
         "Runningshadow! Liondust! Runningshadow! Liondust!" The Clan chanted, but Runningshadow, Hailstar, Beebrook, Pebblepetal, Swallowpaw and Sandypaw were too sad to even speak now.
        "Clan dismissed, I need time to think." Hailstar meowed as the cats dissolved. Swallowpaw and Sandypaw went to go check on Beebrook and Marigoldkit, bringing a fat magpie with them.
        "How are you mom? Hi, little Marigoldkit! I mean- brother!" Sandypaw mewed.
        "Hewo! Won day I'm gowna bwe big wike woo awnd bwe the bewst wawrior EVER!" Marigoldkit squeaked.
        "I'm sure you will, but we need to train now. Bye!" Sandypaw called as the two apprentices left, seeing Runningshadow and Liondust at the entrance.
         "Hey guys, ready to go practice battle training?" Liondust asked.
         "Ready as I'll ever be, I guess. As long as it isn't by that tree.." Sandypaw mumbled for Swallowpaw. He hasn't spoken since the death. She wondered if he'd be okay. The death was pretty hard hitting him, since she was his former mentor. She feared he is going to get ill worrying and die.
        As they were in the pine forest, Sandypaw tried to talk to him. "Hey, you okay? I know that.. the incident scarred you but you gotta stay strong. Do it for Marigoldkit, for Mother! For me! For Hailstar and the whole Clan! Please, I don't wanna lose you like we lost.." She meowed. "Please."
      "Okay.. I will try.. but lets start battle training!" He hissed.
      "Today we will be practicing our special move, the Surprise Fire. I know what your thinking, we won't start a fire, but this is what it is." Liondust swiftly climbed a tree and got ready. As fast as a bonfire in a forest, he suddenly jumped out, landing on Sandypaw. Runningshadow did the same and landed on Swallowpaw. "Now, the move is hard and requires a lot of focus, but I know you can do it." Liondust meowed. The two apprentices nodded.
       Swallowpaw bolted up the nearest tree like a squirrel. He found the sturdiest and biggest branch on the tree and crouched on it, waiting for the signal. He saw Liondust's tail flick and lunged down, not fast but not slowly. Sandypaw did the same and landed on Runningshadow while Swallowpaw aimed for Liondust. His paws landed squarely on his shoulders and flank and Liondust fell under the impact, before getting back up.
        "Great! Now lets try doing the Jump-Twist Scratch. Remember to keep your claws sheathed! Here is what you do." Liondust jumped into the air toward a tree, spun off it, twisted and scratched Runningshadow's nose with his paw.
        Swallowpaw tried to do it, and jumped up, towards a tree, sprang off of it, and tried to twist but landed awkwardly on the ground of the mossy spot. Sandypaw sprang up and twisted off the tree, landing onto Swallowpaw with an "Oof!"
        "Its a start. Everyone learns. When I tried doing it the first time, I barreled straight into a tree." Liondust giggled. "Lets head back, so you can rest."
