        Crowfeather didn't care for his son, but Nightcloud vowed she would never let Breezekit fall into any danger.

        Although she felt despair for her lost kits, Breezekit's mewling voice eased the agony of the loss.

        At least for the moment, Nightcloud felt like she was flying.
