Serafina's pov

"Fina what are you doing?" My older sister by one year asked me. "You see Amber it's called relaxing." I replied pulling my shades over my eyes. I was laying in the grass in our backyard.

"I have some bad news." Amber said and I sat up. "We are moving to Malibu California." She said sadness lacing her voice.

"Bad news!? That's not bad news that's amazing news!" I said springing up. "Won't you miss your friends?" She asked me. "Please they don't even notice me." I said waving my hand at her.

"Come on Amb, they do a lot of volleyball there." I smiled at her. "Oh my gosh! Really!?" She asked me. "Yup!" I said. "Goodbye Texas!Hello California!" Amber shouted.

"Girls I want you two to start packing we're going to leave tomorrow morning." Our dad appeared in the doorway. "Happily!" We sang and bounded inside.

Amber and I had a relationship that two best friends would have.

Within 5 hours we had our stuff packed and when I say packed I mean from ceiling to floor. We kept out a pair of clothes and a blanket and pillow.

"Goodnight A and D!" I shouted from my room. "Goodnight S!" My dad and Amber shouted back.

I closed my eyes and let myself fall into a deep sleep.

My favorite song Fantasy by Alina Baraz played on my phone and I turned off the alarm. "Rise and shine sleeping beauties!" My dad yelled from somewhere in the house.

"I'm up!" I yelled back. "I guess I am too." I heard Amber say and I chuckled quietly. I sprung out of bed and closed my door.

I grabbed the last remaining suitcases I had and brought them out to the van. I bounded back inside and to the kitchen. "So dad what's the plan." I asked practically hopping from foot to foot.

Amber showed up next to me. "The plan is, we are taking a carry on bag onto the plane, and the van which has all the rest of our stuff and Fina's surfboard, is going on a separate plane which is transporting it to our new house. Oh and we are getting Starbucks at the airport, our plane doesn't leave until 10:45 and it's 8:00 right now so we'll arrive at the airport at 10 ish." My dad said and we nodded.

"Everyone in the van!" Dad ushered us and we all climbed in. Dad turned up the radio and we were on our way.

Some time later

We had just checked in through security and we were sitting at a small table in Starbucks. Dad had plain old coffee, Amber had a strawberry smoothie and lemon tart, and I had a Caramel Frappucchino and a raspberry tart.

"Okay girl's time to go to our gate." He said and we grabbed our drinks and took off down the corridor.

"Gate C3." Dad mumbled under his breath. "Ahh their it is." He said and we followed him to the half full gate. "We will be boarding in five minutes." A voice said over the intercom.

"Are you excited Amber?" I asked practically jumping in my seat. "Even though it was hard to say goodbye to my friends, I know I'll be fine." She answered and I gave her a side hug.

"First class please line up and then the first group can get behind them." The voice said and we stood up.

It was our turn and I swear you could see the sparkle in my eyes as I gave the lady my ticket. "Have a good flight miss Priya." She said and I followed after dad and Amber.

"I call the window seat." I announced and linked arms with Amber. "Chill out Fina." Amber said and I shook my head. "Can't." I replied and unlinked our arms as we neared the entrance.

I was first and then it was Amber and dad last. I opened the little window and took a quick picture.

"Wake me up when we are their." Dad said and leaned his head back on the seat. "Will do dad." I said and took out my phone.

I put it on selfie mode and turned it sideways. "Amb, smile." I smiled and she smiled. "I'll send it to you." I said and she nodded.

I looked out the window once more before closing my eyes.

Halfway through the flight

My eyes peeled open and I realized everybody else was still sleeping. It was time to think and tell you a little bit about me and my family.

After our mother had me, she started to work longer hours, when Amber was 6 and I was 5, we came back to the house from the store and found out mom was cheating. Dad knew for a while now but didn't say anything. They divorced with no extra words. When I turned 6 I started surfing. Amber started volleyball at 13 but since they didn't do it at her school we had a net in the yard.

I've been surfing for 11 years now and Amber has been playing volleyball for 5 years.

My mind came back to reality when I felt my eyes slip closed.

Amber and I stood their our eyes wide at the house that our dad bought. "Oh my gosh it's gorgeous!" I yelled and ran to the front door.

"It's not right on the beach but we have our own boardwalk to the beach." Dad said unlocking the door and I zoomed in.

"Yes! My life is complete!" I smiled and fell onto the couch. It was already furnished. "Who's rooms are who?" Amber asked. "Follow me." He said and we followed him past the kitchen and to the back of the house.

He opened a door that was one down from the back deck that lead to the boardwalk.

"Oh my gosh daddy it's everything I've ever dreamed of!" Amber exclaimed and I finally looked in.

So many pillows on one bed. "And this is your room Serafina." Dad said and opened the door next to the patio.

Even though it was a male surfer it was still amazing. "Okay girls I have to go get the van. I'll be back in an hour or so." He said and walked out.

I set my stuff down on the vanity and flopped down onto the bed.

"Nice room Fina." Amber said walking into my room. "Yours isn't so bad either." I smiled. "You gonna go test the waves when dad gets back?" She asked leaning against the doorway.

"Heck yeah! I think I'm going to call the school see what's up." I said. "Kay, well I'll leave you to it." Amber said. "What was it called again?" I asked before Am we could walk away.

"SummerHill High School." She smiled before walking back to her room.

I pulled out my phone and dialed their number. "Hello this is Debby." She said. "Hi my name is Serafina Priya and I'm going to be attending your school on Monday." I said.

"Oh how lovely to meet you, do you have any questions?" She asked. "Yes actually, what are your sports?" I asked. "Well we have Volleyball, football, soccer, surf, tennis--" I cut her off.

"Did you say surf?" I asked not believing my own ears. "Yes." She said. "When are surf and volleyball tryouts?" I asked.

"Surf tryouts are Monday after your last class and so is volleyball." She said and my face lit up.

"Thank you sooo much Debby I'll make sure to call you if I need anything else. Bye." I said. "Bye dear." She said and hung up.

"AMBER!" I yelled and ran into her room. "Volleyball tryouts are Monday after school." I said and she squealed.

"And guess what!" I said and jumped onto her bed. "What!" She asked. "They have surf tryouts!" I screamed and she squealed again.

"Well I'm going to go wait in my room until dad gets home!" I said and skipped away.

I laid down on my bed took a deep breath, and calmed my nerves. "Alright Serafina, new school the day after tomorrow, gotta practice when dad gets home." I told myself.

I have a feeling this is going to be a great year.
