Chapter one
A young Oshawott was standing by a window sill. He paced back and forth in agonizing worry over something. His heart pounded as he thought about it some more. " Did they even get it?" He asked himself as he paced around the room, looking at his paws.
He stopped, mid-step. " Did they," he began, shivering slightly. " Did they maybe reject me and throw away my letter? Or will they even let me get a chance?" He asked no one in particular. " They did say they needed more after all those massacring." He stated.
The little Oshawott glanced out the window. Come on Gull. He willed his friend. The little water bird, Pokémon name was Wingull, decided to brave the winds so that he could deliver his buddy's mail. Gull also happened to be a bird that didn't know how to fly too well, and well....let's just say Gull crashes a lot.
Stop overthinking things, he told himself. She will be fine. Parker, the Oshawott, turned his head to attention as a thin white bird cawed loudly and slammed into the window, falling down.
Parker face palmed. He opened the window as the clumsy Wingull flapped inside, flying to and fro because of the impact. " S-sorry, Parker. That window keeps tricking me." Gull apologizes as an envelope in her talon falls out due to her grabbing her head in them.
That's her excuse every time. Every time she crashes into the widow, which was like most of the time. She's both stupid and clumsy. But it wasn't her fault. Most bird Pokémon slam into windows half the time. One time a Skyarmory broke his window because he didn't see it. Which also caused one heck of a face plant against his wall, denting it.
" Try not slamming into the window. It might look clear, but it's hard as an Onix." He told her. The little Wingull nodded. " I'll try, Parker." She nervously commented.
Parker then noticed the envelope. " Is this...?" He began. Gull suddenly got excited. " Yes! Yes it is, Parker!" She chirped, flying to rest on his bed. She was shaking with excitement. She was always excited for herself and her friends. Gull was always this excited whenever something awesome could happen.
Parker picked up the envelope. He looked at the writing. From: The Starter Squad To: Parker and Gull. " And Gull?" He questions as he looks over to the Wingull. Gull turned red.
" I-I signed up for mail duty. You know delivering things and stuff. There's a thing like that in the Starter squad where flying types, even if they aren't starters can sign up for a duty. I-I thought that we could have close jobs, you know." Gull's voice got quieter as the Oshawott glanced at her.
" Good." Parker commented, attention on the mail once more. " Though you better watch out for windows." He commented, as he stuck his paws against the envelope, feeling for the opening.
Gull giggled nervously. " Yeah." She sighed. Parker's eyes lit up a tiny bit when he found the opening. "Gotcha!" He declares as he unfolds the folding of the envelope.
He peeks inside. He reaches inside it, finding two pieces of separate paper. One had his name in horrible handwriting and the other had Gull's name on it with much nicer handwriting. Was it even a Pokémon with hands that wrote his? He questions as he tried to read the ineligible writing.
He handed Gull her paper and she held it in a wing, putting on her ' reading glasses' as she claims. She clears her throat as she pretends to talk while reading her letter with eagerness.
Parker turned back to his own letter. What will it say? He asks himself as he starts to shake from both suspense and nervousness. Will I even be allowed to take part in the competition of getting in? He asked himself.
The Starter Squad usually had a battle competition or some sort of competition where the starters who tried to get in had to partake in. If the fighters did well, even if they lost, then they were in the squad.
Parker reads the note with nervousness and hopefulness. The figure on his face changing as he read it.
Dear Parker,
Your application has been accepted. We are in dire need of starters, and we hope you will come to the Starter Squad HQ to fulfill the beginning challenge. If you are accepted, which is highly likely, then we will inform you of your team mate(s).
Hope you join us soon,
Regards, Eule the Decidueye.
Parker stared at the scribbled writings. Eule? He thought. Is that who was writing me? He's a Decidueye? What's that? He questioned as he took a minute to glance at his friend. There were tears in her eyes.
She used a talon to wipe it away. She sniffed, a smile on her face. " I'm in! A nice Pokémon named Swell told me I got in!" She exclaimed, holding the letter close to her heart. " I get to be a mail deliverer! That's got to be the best job ever!" She proclaimed, making Parker grit his teeth.
It wasn't the best duty in his opinion. Being a starter squad member was. It totally beat being a shitty mail carrier all day, but Parker wouldn't tell Gull that. She was just overly happy in the moment.
Parker decided to let her have that. " It says here that the date to compete for starter squad members is the twentieth of Avriajsk? What?" Gull questions, taking the paper from Parker, trying to read the handwriting.
It seems as if he wasn't the only one struggling to read it. " Ohhh! It's April." Gull commented, looking calm till she realized what Parker knew when she just read it. She opened her beak to yawn before, " Oh shit!!!!! That's tomorrow!" She squawked.
" I wonder why they would do that last minute like that?" Parker questioned. The date he was suppose to compete for the spot, which he probably will get in anyways, didn't really give him any time to train. He wanted to be extra prepared for it, but how?
He didn't have much time now. Just a few hours and then he would have to be there. Well, that's an understatement. He had more than a few. Like twenty four hours before he had to be there. It starts at eleven am. It was only three pm.
" Do they really have that little help?" Wondered Gull. Parker shrugged. " It makes you wonder why." He commented. Gull then shrugged. " Guess we might learn why when we get there, eh future Starter Squad member?" Gull playfully asked as she wing-bowed(?) Parker.
He nodded. " Yeah we will." He commented, ignoring her playful manner. He then looked outside. " Isn't that your mother who is just fluttering outside?" He asked as he noticed a Pelipper trying to stay in the air.
Gull looked outside. An 'oh shit' look was on her face. " Whatever you do, do not-" Gull began before Parker opened the window and let the unsteady Pelipper in. "-let her in." Gull groaned as she finished her statement.
The Pelipper was gasping. " Gull!" She exclaimed. " What is it, mother?" She questioned formally. " I haven't seen you in a million years!" The Female Pelipper exclaims, putting her wing around her child like Parker wasn't there.
Gull's mother, Pell, continued to hug Gull. " Mom! I'm fifteen years old! I don't need you babying me!" Gull whined as she pushed Pell off of her, extending a wing to show her mother the paper.
Pell grinned. " Now you will be like your father!" The Female Pelipper exclaimed, wiping a tear of happiness from her eye. Both female's gazes turned to the grounded after that phrase.
Gull did have a father once. But he got murdered and eaten by a shiny Leafeon. Neither Gull nor Pell liked to really talk about it much. Thing is they reported the Leafeon, but justice wasn't served. Gull had wanted to kill the flea-bag herself, but by then...a Popplio had already been reported to defeat the Leafeon somehow.
" Tomorrow, eh?" Pell questions as she grabbed the paper from her daughter. " Yup!" Gull chirped. " That doesn't give us much time at all to go shopping for your first day on the job!" Pell exclaimed.
Unlike Starter Squad members, Mail Deliverers got the job right off the Zubat and didn't have to compete or do anything stupid in order to get the job. Parker just wish he didn't have to compete against like twenty other Pokémon in order to get it.
If he even got close enough to winning then he'd be on a pretty great team that might end up getting famous. That's what happened with the leader of the Starter Squad, Paarthurnax.
Pell dragged her daughter away, before turning to Parker. " Would you be a dear and help us? We can surely get you some items to help with tryouts tomorrow. You did get at least partially in, right?" Pell asked.
Proudly, Parker dashed forward. " Of course I got in the competition. I'll help you, Miss Pell." He addressed. The three water types walked out the door to prepare the two rookies for what they're about to enter counter on their journey through the Squad.

A figure gazed at Parker and Gull, chucking slightly. " Geez those guys sure are old. I'm only thirteen." The Pokemon adjusted something black on his head.
" I worry too much for someone this dumb." He comments, as he adjusts a small unconscious form on his back. He gazes at the green Pokémon with fondness. He had only just saved the little guy from killing himself, yet he already liked him.
Though, he likes everyone. A yellow ring on his head glowed. He closes his red eyes. " Aha." He murmurs. " So that happens." He comments as he turns around and begins to pad off.
" You!" An extreme hiss exclaimed, making the Umbreon turn around. " I've been expecting you." He commented as his eyes met the eyes of a female Leafeon. Shiny.
Despite what the Starter squad thinks, this villain is not dead yet. Not even her daughter knows she is still alive. The Umbreon thought. Only he knew. He didn't bother telling anyone. They all thought he was nuts. Of course he still was nuts anyways.
The female shiny Leafeon snorted. She rolled her eyes at him. " What gives you the right to be stalking others?" She growled. " I have no idea what you speak of." He commented.
" You're watching over all the good and bad Pokémon! What the hell is wrong with you?" She growled, hackles rising.
" Says the one who abandoned her little Eevee child, making her think you died. We both know that day you retreated." The Umbreon commented.
" That Popplio..." The Leafeon began.
" That gives you no reason to abandon your kid!" The Umbreon interrupted. " Now if you'll excuse me, I have a small
Problem that needs to be taken care of." He commented, trying to strut away from the female.
Pain flared over the Umbreon as the shiny Leafeon's claws dig into his torso. He turned around. He snarled a little bit. He put his shades on his face. Then he shot out a dark blob. It hit the Leafeon.
She growled as she got up. " You might be stronger than you look, but I won't let you get away, you little bastard!" Leafeon barked, she kicked up some sand.
The Umbreon leapt into the air to dodge. He growled white and slammed into the Leafeon's side. She yelped as she hit the ground on her side. The Umbreon loomed over her.
" I watch out for others. And if I were you, I wouldn't try my luck." He commented as he kicked dust at the Leafeon, who just growled as she got hit. " Little twerp." She snarled.
Umbreon looked back at her. " I have the power of an Absol. I'm not just going to let it go to waste. I'm going to help Pokémon, and there's no way the bad guys will win." He commented, then he looked forward again and padded away.

Authors note: So how was it? I honestly had no plan of that last few pages or page or whatever. So...Bahu's mother is not dead. If you pieced all the clues that is. So that's the first chapter.
Did you believe in the prologue that Bahu's mother was truly dead?
Who was Gull's father?
Why did the shiny Leafeon eat Gull's father?
Do you think that Parker will get into the squad? Why or why not?
