Chapter 3
( May's POV )
When Dawn and I finally had our canoe under control, the rest was already halfway the lake. "Great now we'll never catch up to them." Dawn complained.
"Don't be so sure of that." I said and smiled at the water. "Isn't your Piplup a water type?" Dawn gave me a grin.
"Suppose you're right." she said and let piplup out of its pokéball. Piplup didn't seem into the idea at first, but after we promised it to take it shopping in the nearby town, it agreed. When we started moving we were fast. We caught up to the others in only half the time they used to get this far out.
When we past the canoe of Drew and Paul, we waved and smiled at them. Drew just flipped his hair and said, "Cheaters."
"Oh, come on, you're just jealous you didn't think of it." I said, sticking out my tongue. He gave me a weird smile and started rowing faster.
Dawn looked at me with a wicked look in her eyes. she had an idea. "Oh, Paul!" she teased, and tried to get the boy's attention. Was she crazy? That would never work. He'd just snap at her.
"Dawn, don't!" I shouted, but Dawn kept trying to get his attention. And it worked. Paul looked up at Dawn. She smiled and stood up inside of the canoe. I wanted to push her back in her seat, but I couldn't. My legs refused to stand up. Dawn walked to the front of the canoe and climbed on it.
"Stop you're going to fall!" both Drew and I screamed. But Dawn didn't listen she let go of the side of the canoe and stood up. Then she fell. I realy thought she was going to fall in the water and hurt herself with the passing canoe. But she never hit the water. Paul caught her and got her on board of their boat safely. He said some thing to her that made her blush furiously. I wanted to yell at her for being so damn stupid. But we didn't have time. We were going to fast. If we didn't slow down, we would crash into the others.
"Piplup, return!" Dawn yelled. And Piplup disappeared. Only now we had no way of stopping the canoe. Drew threw me his peddle but it was to late our boat bumped into the boat of Leaf and Misty. Their canoe almost fell over, but they held it up. Only now it was spinning out of control and hit the canoe of Ash and Serena. Serena grabbed the back of the last canoe. It cracked and sank down. We all tried to keep our canoes straight, and not to get dragged along with the current. When we finally all made it to the shore coughing and exhausted. I couldn't see straight anymore.
"Is everyone okay?" I heard Misty ask. I couldn't concentrate. It was too cold. I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. When I was able to breath probably again I looked right into Drew's emerald green eyes.
"Come on." he said and helped me up. I wanted to cry right there. Just to feel guilty and let him comfort me because I had made this mess. Everyone was soaked, and a few had small cuts and bruises. I had no idea where we were and from the look on their faces I assumed nobody else had either. Paul was already in the water again trying to find a canoe that hadn't been taken away by the current. It was hopeless a few pieces of the broken canoe where all that was left.
"May, you're shaking." Drew said, and I felt the cold that even made my bones freeze over again.
He gave me his jacket. "It's going to be alright." he said. I believed him.
( Delcatty's POV )
They were in the forest. I could feel it so close. "Dammit!" they weren't supposed to go past the lake. I fled into my shelter and looked at the bottles. It had to happen now. I got a chance to right my wrong. I had to act, so I grabbed the first bottle. "Spirit of change, I call thy upon me." The bottle shaked and started cracking. "Seek out your host." The bottle fell apart. The pink smoke that broke free took form for just one second. "Ditto." it said and disappeared.
( back with team red )
Serena fell on the ground. Not able to control her body that felt like gelatin. She switched form every few seconds and almost threw up her breakfast. The rest tried to help her, calm her down. But it was of no use. When she finally stoped shapeshifting she had already passed out.
"Spirit of sight..."
Drew lowered to his knees. May tried to get him out of his trance, but he just looked to the sky like something was happening there. Something only he could see.
"Spirit of fire..."
Ash tripped and fell. The leaves below him started burning. When he tried to get away from it, his hands caught on fire as well.
"Spirit of water..."
Misty's legs disappeared. Instead the underside of het body had became a long fish tail.
"Spirit of the sky..."
Dawn got dragged to the ground by the extra weight on her back. Her teeth were hurting. She felt something was wrong with them and checked, only to cut herself on two long pointy teeth.
"Spirit of the trees..."
Leaf got stuck between branches that grew longer and tighter around her. When she touched them to get out, they only started growing more.
"Spirit of beasts..."
Paul tried to get to the shore to see what was going on, but his hands started turning in to claws. And he felt his feet turn in to paws as well. He made it to the shore before he turned completely.
"Spirit of ghost..."
Gary started floating. And when he tried to grab a hold of something, he just phased right through it.
"Spirit of bugs..."
Iris her hands got covered in some sort of rope. She tried to peel it off it only spread further. Stringshot she realized too late. It already made it impossibly to move.
"Spirit of teleportation..."
May ran to Leaf to remove the vines, but just before she could help her friend, she disappeared and reappeared a few feet further. She slipped and hit her head against a branch. Then she fell unconscious on the ground.
( Kathryn's POV )
When team red had left we started doing hide and seek. Clemont started counting to twenty for the seventh time. I squeezed myself trough the tiny space between the dining area and the ground under the dining aria. There was a petty big space underneath an I could almost sit straight. "12, 11, 10!" Someone else slid into 'the under area.' I couldn't see who. "3,2,1, be gone or be found!" The person sat in front of me and gave me a small shy wave. Then I could see his face, Barry. I gave him a wave back, and then put my finger on my lips. Clemont's feet were only inches away from us. If he looked down he would definitely see the footprints on the ground before the opening. But he just kept walking. We both sighed in relief at the same time. This made us laugh a little. When Clemont had been gone for a wile we were starting to get bored. Barry decided to cut the tension.
"So where're you from?"
"A nearby town." I said.
"Why were you on the bus then?"
"I didn't want to be the only camper already being here. Then you miss the whole meeting for the first time thing, you know." A lie, but not one I had trouble telling. It wasn't entirely untrue. Either because I would be way more awkward than I already was if I hadn't done the whole bus ride. "My turn." I said. "Do you like cheesecake?" He just glared at me, and I couldn't stop laughing. Then someone put his head on the floor an looked us in the eyes, Clemont.
"Hate to disturb you lovebirds, but you are caught." we climbed out of the hole and I realy hoped that Barry (or Clemont for that matter) didn't see how red my cheeks became when Clemont had called us lovebirds.
