Chapter Twelve

¥ Endgame ¥

'THE TRUTH WILL ALWAYS COME OUT.'

I do not own Legend of Korra or the Last Airbender, all credit goes to the people who made the two happen. I only own Kanna and the things I make up along the way. Most of the script comes from the person who created it. Descriptions come from the show I've watched and the things I've read.

Kanna Kya

Kanna, Bolin, Asami, and Iroh ride on Naga in a snowy region. They watch as the biplanes fly above. A sense of relief comes to Kanna since they finally found where they came from. They slide off of Naga and observe the area ahead of them.

"I think we've found our secret airfield." Iroh states and looks at Bolin. "Bolin, once we get down there, I need you to tear up those runways. We can't let those aircraft take off."

"Aye aye, captain!" Bolin salutes. He freezes and quickly corrects himself, "General."

"Kanna, I need you to try to make them malfunction by drowning their systems in water." Iroh gazes at Kanna while saying this.

"Aye aye, captain, oh general." Kanna copied Bolin a little mockingly and salutes. Bolin huffs and pushes her, making her giggle.

"All right, you guys wait here until we get back, okay?" Bolin says to the animals. Lee chirps angrily as Naga starts to raise her foot to stomp, but stops when Bolin holds his hand out towards them. "Uh-uh, stay." Naga whines as Pabu chitters. Kanna smiles at them before leaving with the group. They stroll towards the air field where they see multiple fence posts with no fence connecting them.

"Why would there be fence posts, but no fence?" Asami suspiciously asks.

"Maybe the fence is invisible, who knows what your dad has created." Kanna states just as the group walks into the middle of the fence posts, but subsequently cry out in pain as they are electrocuted, and they collapse onto the ground unconscious. "I was right," Kanna chokes out through her pain as she tries to stay awake, but her visions keeps going in and out. She sees a blurry figure approaching them before her vision goes completely dark.

At the Pro-bending area, there is a rally happening inside. Korra and Mako wear Equalist disguises and stand guard on a balcony with their hands behind their backs. They nod at each other, ready to expose Amon as a fraud. Amon rises from beneath the platform.

"Thank you all for joining me on this historic occasion!" Amon says and the crowd cheers. "When I was a boy, a firebender struck down my entire family and left me scarred. That tragic event began my quest to equalize the world."

"That's a lie, Amon!" Korra shouts. Amon's eyes widen as he looks at the balcony Korra and Mako are standing on. They both proceed to remove their chi blocker masks. "Or should I call you Noatak?" Amon's left eye narrows. The Lieutenant turns to Amon.

"You want her taken out?" He asks. Amon raises his left hand.

"No." He walks forward on the stage; to the entire crowd. "Everyone calm down, we have nothing to fear from the Avatar. Let's hear what she has to say."

"Amon has been lying to you. The spirits didn't give him the power to take people's bending away. He uses bloodbending to do it." She points to Amon. "Amon is a waterbender!" The crowd gasps in surprise.

"What is this nonsense?" Lieutenant asks.

"You're desperate, Avatar. Making up stories about me is a pathetic last resort." Amon says to Korra.

"Your family wasn't killed by a firebender." She looks at the crowd. "His father was Yakone," the crowd gasps, "and his brother ... is Councilman Tarrlok." The Lieutenant sports a doubting look at first before angrily looking at Amon.

"Hmph, an amusing tale, but I will show you the truth." Amon removes his hood, unties his mask and takes it off. The crowd gasps in surprise as his "scarred" face is shown. He points at his "scar". "This is what a firebender did to me."

"What?" Korra shockingly questions and looks at Mako. Murmurs break out in the crowd as Amon puts his mask back on; someone shouts. "The Avatar is lying!" Fury fills Korra, how can he have a scar? Was Tarrlok lying to her? She rids that thought since Tarrlok had no reason to lie.

"I'm telling you!" She points at Amon. "He's a waterbender." She turns to Mako; defeated. "They don't believe me. It didn't work!" A feeling of shame fills her stomach. How can she have failed so badly at her job as the Avatar? Amon is going to win because the people don't have any trust in the avatar or benders.

"We said what we had to. Let's get out of here." Mako states. The pair turns around as Equalists spin bolas at them from above the balcony ready to attack. They take fighting stances as they approach the Equalists on their way out.

"I wouldn't leave yet, Avatar. You'll miss the main event." Korra and Mako turn around after hearing that. A part of the stage rises with the airbenders Tenzin, Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo tied to each pole and gagged.

"No ... they got away." She says in disbelief, sharing a confused look. "We saw them get away!" The feeling of shame becomes stronger. Now her mentor and his family is in trouble. She closes her eyes briefly and sighs. "We should've brought Kanna."

Asami lies in her cell with Kanna still knocked out beside her. Iroh and Bolin are tied back to back. "Asami" Asami stirs and sits up, "Asami, I know I have hurt you ... and I am sorry. But I believe that one day, you will come to your senses and we can be a family again." Sato says. Asami stares at her father in anger. She still cannot believe that she never saw or knew about his evil ways. How could her father be so diabolical?

"Are you insane?! How can we be a family after everything you've done?! Mom would hate you for what you've become." Asami scoffs. The loud voices wake Kanna up and she warily eyes the bickering family.

"How dare you? I am avenging her death!" He shouts.

"The airplanes are ready for take-off, sir." An Equalist informs Sato.

"Good, annihilate the fleet." Sato commands. Kanna's eyes widen in horror. Iroh and Bolin gasp and share a look of confusion and shock. "That's right, general. I intercepted your message to Commander Bumi. I know exactly where they're hiding." Iroh glares at Hiroshi. Worry for her cousin fills Kanna's being. How is she going to save her cousin when she's locked in this cell? The two walk away, but another Equalist stays behind to watch them.

"How are we gonna get out of here?" Asami asks.

"I don't suppose you know how to metalbend?" Iroh asks Bolin.

"That is a negative, sir." Bolin answers and Iroh pouts. Kanna tries to calm her racing heart as she eyes the Equalist. She bites her lips while trying to think of a way to break out of these binds.

"Asami, put your legs in between my arms and pull towards you while I pull away." Kanna turns her back towards Asami. Asami does as she says and the two begin to pull in opposite direction. It took a minute, but everyone could hear a rip as the binds broke off. "I'm sorry." Kanna turns to face her friends, a sad expression on her face. The three furrow their eyebrows at her. She spins around and raises her hands. The Equalist grunts, his body twisting in strange shapes. Bolin gawks, Asami gasps and Iroh's jaw drops open.

"Who needs a metal bender when we got a blood bender." Bolin tries to laugh the situation off.

"She can bloodbend." Iroh mumbles in disbelief and watches Kanna force the Equalist to walk towards their cell. She reaches through the bars and yanks the keys off of his belt. She snaps her hand to the side and the Equalist drops to the ground.

"I didn't kill him, he's just knocked out." Kanna informs them after seeing their horrified looks. She hurries to unlock the cell door and then goes to each of her friends to untie them.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Bolin questions.

"Blood bending is illegal." Asami says before Kanna can answer, "no wonder she kept it a secret. She would be in jail right now." Kanna goes to pat her shoulder in thanks and quickly pauses when she notices the Asami's slight flinch. She lowers her hand, hurt flashing through her veins. She knew how people view blood bending and she knows the danger of revealing her ability especially to her friends.

"Blood bending can only happen at night during the full moon so how?" Iroh's words drift off as he shakes his head in astonishment. "Who cares, you got us out. Thank you." Iroh smiles gently and Kanna happily returns it. At least two people weren't scared of her. The four turn when suddenly the front door is broke down. Naga stands there with Pabu and Lee standing on her head.

"I'm going after those airplanes." Iroh tells them. Kanna running beside him in hopes of saving her cousin. Naga suddenly picks Bolin up as they run.

"Ahh! No, Naga!" Bolin shouts. Asami notices the empty mecha tanks and jumps inside one.

"Huh, what do you know ... just like a Future Industries forklift." Asami comments. Iroh manages to board one of the planes with his firebending. He throws the pilot off and steers the plane on his own. He looks over to his right to see Kanna using her water bending to do the same. She settles into the plane beside him and glances over, she throws a wink at him.

"Tonight, I rid the world of airbending, forever." Amon raises his arms.

"Amon, let them go!" Korra shouts.

"You're welcome to come down here and try to stop me." Amon mockingly says.

"He's trying to bait you." Mako grabs Korra's arm.

"I don't care! We have to save them!" Korea defiantly says while struggling to free herself.

"The Avatar needs to be reminded of the power I possess." Amon turns around and walks toward the airbenders. Tenzin looks at his children with worry-filled eyes while futilely trying to break free. Suddenly, Mako generates lightning and directs it to Amon, who dodges the blast and rolls over to the Lieutenant. Mako and Korra use firebending to jump onto the wall and balance themselves vertically to run across it to the stage. Before landing, they both dodge bolas thrown at them and send a barrage of firebending attacks to get the Equalists away from the airbenders, knocking one Equalist off the stage. The crowd disperses and runs away from the stage. Mako continues to fight them as Korra runs to free the airbenders. Korra untied the gag around Tenzin's mouth, produces a flame on her finger, and begins to burn the metal chains binding Tenzin.

"Where are Pema and the baby?" Korra asks.

"In prison." Tenzin replies.

"Beifong?" Korra inquries.

"I don't know." Tenzin answers and Korra breaks the metal chains on his feet. Tenzin immediately runs onto the battlefield, assisting Mako as Korra moves to free the kids. Right after Mako throws a fire punch and fire kick, Tenzin runs in front of him fires two air blasts, which knocks an Equalist and the Lieutenant off the stage. Amon dodges Mako's firebending attack with acrobatic grace, but Tenzin follows with a strong wave of air which he tries to block, but it is too powerful, causing him to be blown off the stage.

"Follow me, kids." Korra, Mako, Tenzin, and the kids run away and gather in a hallway.

"Where's Kanna?" Tenzin inquiries.

"Helping Iroh, Asami and Bolin take out an airfield. Get them out of here. We'll create a diversion." She tells tenzin and he nods in understanding.

"Let's go get your mother and the baby." Tenzin says to his kids.

Meelo raises his arms and shouts, "Prison break!" Tenzin and the children run the opposite direction as Amon goes out on the other door. When he starts running, Korra blocks his way with a wall of fire and makes another one to be safe. Mako enters a room with Korra behind him. Amon jumps over the wall of fire and looks to see where they have gone. He hears the door swing and enters that room.

Korra hears Amon's footsteps. Amon continues to walk past Korra's hiding place and stops for a moment before continuing. Korra breathes a sigh of relief, but suddenly writhes in pain as Amon bloodbends her out from under the table and into the air. Mako tries to stop Amon from bloodbending Korra by sending continued attacks of firebending.

"Let her go!" He shouts. Amon dodges each attack and bloodbends Mako into submission by lifting him into the air. He slams both of them on the ground and bloodbends Mako in place on the floor, and Korra in a kneeling position. Amon walks around Korra and places his hand on her neck.

"No!" Korra screams, realization of what is about happen settling in. She secretly prays that a miracle happens and Kanna busts down the walls and saves her. But she knows that won't happen.

"Korra!" Mako screams in horror, regret overwhelming him as he imagines how different this situation would be with Kanna. Amon places his other hand on her forehead. Korra's mouth opens in a voiceless scream as her eyes flutter shut. Amon lets her go as her body slumps on the ground.

"I told you I would destroy you." Amon says and turns to Mako. "Protector Kanna will be next."

Iroh generates lightning and directs it to the middle plane, causing it to crash to the plane beside it. One pilot shoots an explosive bola at Iroh's plane causing it to get caught up in the main propeller forcing Iroh to bail out before the plane explodes. As Iroh free-falls, he goes to use his firebending when a jet of water surrounds him, propelling him to another plane. He waves at Kanna as he uses a firebending attack to disable one of the propellers on the plane in front of him. Iroh kicks the pilot off the plane and takes control of it. He glances over to see Kanna doing tricks in the air as if she flew a plane before. He utters a laugh as she crashes into another plan and is forced to eject. She sticks her tongue out at him while using her water to propel herself to the next plane. His attention is quickly taken off of her when a bomb manages to hit the rear end of the plane. Iroh tries to control the plane while another one above him tries to drop another bomb. He quickly uses his firebending and shoots it, causing the plane above him to explode. While his plane is set to crash to Amon's mask on the statue of Aang, he quickly jumps out and grabs the Equalist banner, causing it to tear. He hangs in midair and watches the mask fall off the statue. "Thanks for looking out for me, Aang." He states.

"Die!" He gazes at Kanna's form, watching in pure amusement as she destroys plane after plan with her water whips. "Feel the wrath of Neptune!"

"Neptune?" He mutters in confusion. Suddenly, Kanna screams in pain and clutches her heart. "Kanna!"

"Something's wrong with Korra," Kanna croaks out, but her words can only be heard by her.

Bolin groans as he destroys the runway by earthbending. Three mecha tanks try to attack Bolin with cables, but Naga catches them and pulls them, causing the mecha tanks to topple over and almost hit Bolin, who stands still as if not noticing it. "Whoa! Thanks Naga." He calls out.

Asami destroys one of the planes with the mecha tank. "Asami, what do you think you're doing? You are aiding the very people who took your mother away!" Sato says to his daughter.

"You don't feel love for Mom anymore. You're too full of hatred." Asami shoots back.

"You ungrateful, insolent child!" Hiroshi controls the mecha tank to advance to Asami. Asami tries to stop him by launching the wires, but missed. Asami's eyes widen in fear as Hiroshi's tank hits, throwing her mecha tank away and destroying the faceplate. "I now see there is no chance to save you!" As Hiroshi is going to hit Asami with his mecha tank's right hand, Bolin sends a rock to the mecha tank's hand to stop it.

"Mr. Sato, you are a horrible father!" Bolin shouts. Asami gains momentum and attacks her father. She successfully throws him away using her mecha tank. Hiroshi groans in pain as Asami forces the opening of the mecha tank. Hiroshi looks with fear at his daughter while Asami looks at him with hatred. Her gaze eventually changes into pity as Hiroshi tries to attack her, but Asami is able to dodge it, which he used as a diversion in order to attempt an escape.

"You really are a horrible father." Asami sadly states. As Hiroshi runs, Asami throws an electrified bola that renders Hiroshi unconscious. Asami sheds a tear as Naga whimpers.

"Finally, you are powerless." Amon says. Korra tries to hit Amon, but is too weak from the loss of her bending to do it and misses. The Lieutenant appears in the hallway and sees what Amon has done.

"Amon! Everything the Avatar said is true, isn't it? I just saw you bloodbend her." He removes his mask and smashes it with his feet. His face shows an angry look. "You traitor! I dedicated my life to you!" He takes out his kali sticks and runs forward to attack Amon. Amon stops him with bloodbending and lifts him into the air.

"You've served me well, Lieutenant." Amon casts the Lieutenant aside into a pile of wood and walks toward Mako. He bloodbends his hands, but Mako manages to electrocute him with lightning strong enough to throw him away. He sends two firebending blasts at Amon, but the blasts hit the surrounding wood and trap him. Mako picks up Korra and carries her bridal style. Mako runs down the hallway while still carrying Korra.

"Mako ... my bending." Korra weakly mumbles.

"Everything will be all right! We just need to get out of here." Mako tried to reassure her. Amon once again bloodblends Mako, causing him to drop Korra as she slides. He tosses Mako around like a ragdoll into the walls and ceiling.

"I'm impressed. No one has ever gotten the better of me like that. It is almost a shame to take the bending of someone so talented. Almost." Amon calmly states. A strange sensation comes over Korra as the fear in her suddenly disappears.

"No!" She is able to somehow amplify her punch with airbending, causing Mako to separate from Amon.

"Impossible!" Amon shouts in shock.

"I - I can airbend?" She stands up straight and yells. "I can airbend!" She cheers, excitement cursing through her. Kanna would be so proud of her. Korra attacks Amon with a flurry of air blasts. Despite his attempts to block, he is flung back and slides to a stop on his side in front of a window. He stretches out his hand. Korra is immediately halted due to the bloodbending grip Amon is exerting. Amon stands up and strengthens his grip on Korra, now using both hands. Korra's face is contorted in pain from the effort it costs to resist his hold. "No ... you ... don't!" She overcomes it and kicks Amon through the window with airbending. As Amon falls, his mask comes off and he falls into the sea.

"Did you see what happened?" The crowd sees Amon's mask float to the surface. Korra and Mako walk up to the shattered window as cries of the protesters grow. "You bending tyrant!"

"Evil Avatar!" As he is gradually sinking, the water washes away his "scar". Desperate to save himself, Noatak waterbends a spout to get to the surface. As he gasps for air, riding his water spout high above the crowd, he turns to see the people looking at him in shock.

"He's waterbending."

"He is a bender."

"Whoa!"

"The scar is fake."

"The Avatar was telling the truth." He looks angrily at Korra, which she reciprocates, before jumping into the water again. As Noatak escapes, Mako tries to stop him by firebending, but he misses every shot. After Noatak escapes, Korra and Mako hug each other.

"We did it." Korra laughs happily.

"Yeah we did." Mako grins. "I can't wait to tell the others."

"Do you think they're doing okay?" She questions, wondering if Kanna was alright.

"Of course they're doing okay. They got Iroh and Kanna." He answers.

Noatak climbs up the stairs and walks toward Tarrlok's cell. "Noatak." He greets.

"It's over, brother. I'm sorry for what I had to do to you." Noatak says.

"Our father set us on this path; fate caused us to collide." Tarrlok sighs and looks up at his brother. "I should have left with you when we were boys."

"Leave with me now. We have a second chance. We can start over, together. Please, you're all I have left in the world." Noatak opens the prison door causing Tarrlok to gaze at him in awe.

Tenzin, Pema, and his family hug each other tightly with Naga behind them. Team Avatar is reunited and Lin holds Korra by the shoulders. "I can't believe Amon got you too." Lin states. Kanna crosses her arms and glances away, her face clouded in an expression of shame and self-loathing. Mako notices this and gently places a hand on her elbow. She quickly rips her arm out of his grip and stalks away.

"Hey, at least you unlocked your airbending!" Bolin tries to lighten the mood. Everyone turns and glares at him sourly. Pabu chitters.

"Bro, not the time." Mako shakes his head.

"Right, right, I'll just stand over here," he backs away to where Kanna is standing, "quietly," he puts hands over mouth and whispers, "in silence."

The group stands on the dock and watch several ships come through the bay. "You saved Republic City." Tenzin gazes at Korra in pride. Korra lowers her head and looks sad.

"But Amon got away." She sadly says. Tenzin places arm around the Avatar's shoulders, and she covers his hand with hers. At least she can find comfort in her friends and family. She sneaks a glance at Kanna who is still standing off to the side by herself while looking all angry. A sigh emits from Korra before she head towards Kanna. "It's not your fault." Korra immediately holds a hand up to stop Kanna from speaking. "Mako and I are the ones that pushed you to go with them. Good thing we did too, you got them out of a sticky situation."

"Asami is scared of me now, she flinches a little every time I go near her." Kanna solemnly tells Korra. "Everyone else is still treating me normally, but I know that they are thinking some judge mental things by the way they look at me sometimes."

"Kanna," Korra carefully holds Kanna's hands in her own and rubs her thumb over Kanna's knuckles, "who cares what others think about you. Your ability does not make you evil and it does not change who you are. Asami will come around, so will everyone else. But that doesn't matter because you have me, and I will always accept you." Kanna grins, yanking Korra into a tight hug. Korra giggles a bit and buries her head in Kanna's hair. "You still smell like lavender somehow." She mumbles.

"It's called good hygiene, maybe try it sometime." Kanna jokes. Korra fakes gasp in offense and playfully hits Kanna. Tenzin watches the two girls interact, a soft smile on his face. "I should congratulate you on your air bending."

"You always did say it was gonna take a while since I was too stubborn and proud," Korra shrugs. "I felt so... useless during that situation because my bending was taken away. I was just determined to save Mako which is why my air bending came out." Kanna furrows her eyebrows, wondering why Mako was the one that brought out Korra's air bending.

"Kanna!" Iroh happily greets the water bender. Korra winks at her before leaving the two alone. "I don't think I thanked you for saving my butt multiple times today."

"You can thank you me over dinner." Kanna jokingly flirts, but to her surprise, Iroh's ears get a little red.

"I'd like that." He bites his lip. "After everything settles down, you and I are going out to dinner."

"It's a date." She tries to stop herself from squealing.

"It's a date." He repeats and walks away. Korra quickly comes back over to her.

"Iroh and you, huh?" Korra teases. Kanna shakes her head.

A ship with dragons on the front appears at the docks. Kanna cheers, rushing towards the ship to be the first one to greet her favorite cousin.

"Bumi!" She screams.

"Yay, Uncle Bumi's here!" Ikki gleefully shouts, farting after Kanna. Bumi stands on the side of the ship and claps his hands happily at the sight of his cousin and niece.

"Waaaa-hoooo!" Bumi yells.

Tenzin sighs, rolls his eyes, and mutters, "Great, now I have to entertain my brother."

"At least your sister isn't here." Korra innocently states.

Tarrlok and Noatak are in a boat together, the latter being the one controlling it. "The two of us together again, there's nothing we can't do!"

"Yes, Noatak." Tarrlok looks at his brother, anger and confusion clear on his face.

"Noatak. Hmph," He chuckles and smiles, "I had almost forgotten the sound of my own name." Tarrlok notices the electrified gloves and looks over to his brother. He takes one, without Noatak seeing him. Tarrlok unscrews the lid of the fuel tank, placing the electric glove above it.

"It will be just like the good old days." Tarrlok says. A tear rolls down Noatak's cheek and Tarrlok electrocutes the fuel tank. The boat explodes and a mushroom cloud shots up into the sky.

Im the Southern Water Tribe at the White Lotus compound, Pema is changing Rohan under the watchful eye of Ikki and Jinora, while Meelo is sleeping on Tenzin's lap. Bolin, Mako, and Asami are all sitting on the same couch, all with dejected expressions on their faces. Senna has her eyes closed while resting sadly against Tonraq's shoulder. Tonraq has his arm around his wife, and Lin is sitting beside him, both stare sadly toward the ground in front of them. Upon hearing the sound of a door sliding open, the three adults quickly raise their heads and turn to the door. A sad-faced Katara opens the door with Korra sitting in the room behind her as Kanna comforts her, though the view of the two are blocked when the elderly healer shuts the door behind her. As she ventures further into the waiting area, all people present stand up and look expectantly at her.

"I've tried everything in my power, but ..." she diverts her eyes to the ground. "I cannot restore Korra's bending." Tenzin looks disappointed.

"But you're the best healer in the world, you have to keep trying!" Lin protests.

"I'm sorry, there's nothing else I can do. Korra can still airbend, but her connection to the other elements has been severed."

Lin looks disappointed. Korra exits the healing room, sadly looking at the ground as Kanna soothingly runs her back. The two stop and Korra eyes everyone upon noticing all the people in the room staring back at her.

"It's going to be all right Korra." Tenzin reassuringly says, but quickly regrets it when he sees Kanna rigorously shake her head at him.

"No, it's not." Korra says, looking angry and disappointed and leaves the house. Kanna watches her leave, knowing that she needs some alone time. She goes to approach her cousin when she sees Mako walk out of the house and follows Korra. Instead, she walks towards Asami who is chatting with Bolin.

"Are you okay?" Kanna asks Asami and gestures towards Mako with Korra.

"I am, Mako and I ended on good terms before this entire day happened." She nods her head contently. Kanna walks out of the house to talk to Korra and overhears the last bit of the conversation.

"I don't care if you're the Avatar or not. Listen, when Tarrlok took you I was losing my mind at the thought of never seeing you again, I realized ....I love you, Korra." Mako put his hand on Korra's cheek. Kanna feels a slightly pain in her heart at the sight.

"I - I can't." Korra runs away and jumps on Naga.

"Korra!" Mano shouts at her retreating form.

"Nice going," Kanna scoffs and bolts after them with Lee darting after her. Tenzin approaches Mako.

"We need to be patient with her. It will take time for her to accept what has happened." Tenzin says to Mako.

Korra arrives with Naga on a cliff above the sea. A tear rolls down her face and the glistening tear falls into the ice below. Korra sits on the ground and begins crying. Kanna arrives and quietly sits next to her. Lee curls up in a ball on Kanna's head.

"Let it out," Kanna softly mumbles and wraps a soothing arm around Korra. Korra leans into her embrace, sobbing her heart out. A man dressed in Air Nomad clothing approaches them, but only his lower half can be seen.

"Not now Tenzin, I just want to be left alone." Korra says

"But you called me here." Kanna's eyes widen and Korra turns to face the man in shock.

"Aang." She says.

"You have finally connected with your spiritual self." Aang informs her. "Hello, Kanna. Sokka wanted me to say hi to you and that he is proud of you, we are all proud of you. You've done a good job at being Korra's protector."

"How can I see you?" Kanna inquiries, trying not to break down at the mention of her father.

"Because of your connection to Korra. We did not chose you on just a whim, you've had a connection with the spiritual world since you were a child. We knew what that meant." Aang answers.

"How have I finally done this?" Korra asks, standing up in disbelief. Kanna stays on the ground and warily glances between the two.

"When we hit our lowest point, we are open to the greatest change." Kanna blinks knowing she recognizes that saying. All the past Avatars appear behind Aang. Aang put his hands on Korra's forehead and shoulder and restores her bending. Kanna grins happily. All the past Avatars disappear. Korra opens her eyes, showing her entering the Avatar State. She raises herself into the air with airbending and sends a blast of air, fire, and earth. Kanna covers the animals and ducks to dodge the stray elements. Korra bends the sea at the bottom of the cliff to make a large wave. Korra exits the Avatar State and looks back to see Mako smiling at her. She runs, jumps on Mako and hugs him.

"I love you too." Mako and Korra share a kiss. A cough interrupts their moment and they break apart to see Kanna glaring at them with her arms crossed.

"Please don't do that lovey dovey stuff in front of me." She sarcastically grins at them.

Korra uses the technique that Aang showed her on Lin to restore her bending. Korra's eyes glow as she enters the Avatar State and light emanates from her thumbs as she uses energybending. When Korra has finished, Lin climbs to her feet and simultaneously lifts several large rocks into the air at once. Everyone watches with awed expressions on their faces, Bolin's eyes almost popping out of his head. "Thank you." Korra bows to Lin.

"I am so proud of you, Avatar Korra." Tenzin informs Korra. Kanna stands to the side, carefully observing Korra. A soft smile comes to her face as she reminisces on the old days and compares them to now. She sees how much Korra has grown as a person and as the Avatar.

Maybe, just maybe, Korra won't have need for a protector in the years to come.
