eleven.
+ note ; hmm,, foreshadowing?
After a thirty minute drive, the group arrived back at the brunette’s house with the items they bought from the party store packed away in the trunk. Jungkook wasn’t exactly told what the group purchased from the store; all he knew is that they got quite a few things, which was good considering they had a longer amount of time to completely decide on the date idea. That, and the brunette was a little bit excited to get his characters together and finish his story. Once his story was complete, he would’ve officially wrote his first romance novel and he was excited about that.
Upon arriving back at the youngest boy’s house, the group piled out of the van, leaving the bought supplies in the trunk of Seokjin’s van. Jungkook walked up to the front door of his house, setting the key in the keyhole and unlocking the door, carefully twisting the knob open and pushing the door so the group could enter his house - which was surprisingly quiet.
There were no sounds of a video game being played, no sounds of anyone talking or anything like that. In fact, the only sounds the brunette heard were the sounds of loud snoring. Confused, the brunette stepped into his house and looked to the right - in the direction of the living room - to see the television was shut off. Jungkook walked closer into the living room, noticing two sleeping bodies taking up two of the sofas.
Yoongi was curled up on the furthest couch, almost making him look like a kitten from the way his body was curled up. On the other couch, Namjoon was laying half-on and half-off of the furniture, his mouth agape as loud snores were erupting from him. Everything seemed fine, the two were just taking a nap, which meant nothing was burnt down or destroyed - everything seemed to be in place. Well, except a certain redhead was missing.
“Guys, where’s Kaesi?” Taehyung asked, peeking his head over the brunette’s shoulder to look at the two sleeping bodies and missing redhead. “Wasn’t she playing video games before we left?” The blonde turned his head a bit and looked up at the brunette - whose face was quick to distort into one of worry.
The brunette’s eyes widened a fraction, noticing the presence of the quiet redhead was absent. He was to quick to shake the sleeping body of Namjoon awake, in case he knew anything. After all, both Namjoon and Yoongi were supposed to keep an eye out on her while they were gone - not that she was a child who was in need of care but because Kaesi was a very curious person who often went places and did things purely out of curiosity. And you know what they say about that - curiosity killed the cat.
Namjoon was quick to wake up - sitting up, as he was alarmed by the violent shaking of his body. His gaze was focused on the group of four - Jimin went to wake up Yoongi - all senses of alarm in his body calming down, a loud yawn escaping past his lips.
“Oh, you guys are back,” the green haired male smiled up at his pink haired boyfriend, only for Seokjin to cross his arms over his chest and glare down at the younger. “Why are you looking at me like that, Jinnie?”
Seokjin took a step closer to Namjoon, uncrossing of his arms to smack the green haired male upside the head. “How could you guys just sleep and lose her? You know she’s a very curious person! Who knows what she could’ve gotten into!”
Namjoon rose an eyebrow in confusion at his boyfriend’s words before looking around the living room. He noticed the room was exceptionally quiet and a certain redhead was nowhere to be seen in the room. He gulped, knowing he was going to be hearing an earful from the pinkette because they forgot to keep an eye on the redheaded girl.
While Seokjin began to scold the green haired male, Jungkook was quick to start looking through all of the rooms in his house for her. The front door was locked when they arrived, which meant she was somewhere in the house. The only struggle is figuring out exactly where she was at.
The first room the brunette - and blonde, since Taehyung followed in suite to help look for his redheaded friend - was the first spare room he had. He rummaged through the entire room; checking under the bed, in the closet, in the connected bathroom and anywhere else a short person with a small frame could fit - but luck wasn’t on their side the entire search.
Room after room the brunette checked, the redhead was nowhere to be seen. She wasn’t in any of the bedrooms, bathrooms, the kitchen, nowhere. She wasn’t seen anywhere in the house and that was worrisome to the brunette because how does one simply lose a redheaded girl? Her hair is bright red; she would be hard to lose unless she wandered in a redhead-only parade.
“We’ve checked this entire house, but can’t find her,” Taehyung frowned, the brunette pacing a little too much to let the others know of what’s going on. The entire group of seven were looking through the house in search of the missing redhead - which was confusing because the brunette lived only in a one-level house.
“Are you sure we’ve checked everywhere in this house, Jungkook-ah?” Hoseok asked, a worried expression written all over his face. “There’s no way we can just lose a person in this house - there has to be somewhere we haven’t checked yet, right?”
Jungkook groaned, running a hand through his hair a couple of times while being deep in thought. Come on, Jungkook, you know she couldn’t be too far. Put yourself in Kaesi’s shoes, if you were her, where would you go? The brunette was close to giving up, because nothing was coming to mind. They checked all of the rooms multiple times and she was not to be found in any of them.
“Yeah, she has to be in here somewhere. I mean, the front door was locked when we got back so it’s not like she could be outside,” the silver haired boy frowned, leaning his head on Yoongi’s shoulder.
Jungkook’s eyes widened at Jimin’s words. “What did you just say, Jimin?” He asked, making sure he heard the words correctly and if it all connected together in the way he first thought.
Jimin - who was completely confused with the brunette’s outburst - spoke his previous sentence again. “The front door was locked when we got back so it’s not like she could be outside-“
“That’s exactly where she is!” Jungkook exclaimed, heading towards the back door of his house that lead to the backyard. Both Taehyung and Hoseok were hot on his heels, following in suite of the brunette.
Upon reaching the backyard door, the brunette twisted it open and stepped outside, looking around for a head of red hair to be spotted. He looked to his left, then his right. And when he looked to his right, there in the grass, sat a girl with red hair that seemed to be focused on something in her lap.
“Kaesi!” The ginger exclaimed, running towards his friend, Jungkook doing the same.
The redhead looked up at the group, a confused expression on her face as she continued to play with whatever was on her lap. Hoseok fell to the ground beside the redhead, giving her a hug.
“We couldn’t find you, we were worried about you!” He exclaimed, nuzzling his head against the girl’s shoulder. The redhead’s expression stayed one of confusion, her staying still as her friend hugged her. Taehyung joined in the hug soon after, practically squeezing the life out of the girl.
“Please let go of me, you’ll scare him,” the redhead pushed both the blonde and ginger away, before focusing her attention back down to her lap. The group looked at the girl, this time all of their expressions filled with confusion.
“Scare who, Kaesi?” Jungkook asked as he sat down next to the redhead.
Kaesi’s lips curved upwards in a smile - the first the brunette had seen from the girl - before she picked up the thing in her lap and cradling it close to her chest. A small head of orange popped up, a small mewl coming from the tiny fluff-looking ball.
“This is a stray kitten I found back here,” the redhead lifted the small ball of fluff closer to her face, her lips pressing a gentle kiss to the top of its head. “I named him Hobi since he reminds me of Hoseok and his orange hair,” the redhead glanced over at the boy, whose cheeks were tinted with a light rosy color from the girl’s words.
Kaesi held the small ball of fluff close to her chest as the kitten just laid there comfortably, snuggling into the crevice between her hand and chest. She looked in the direction of the brunette, a hopeful look in her eyes. “Can I please keep him?”
Jungkook quickly shook his head; the idea of having an animal in his house quickly dismissed. It wasn’t that he disliked animals or anything; he just didn’t know how he was supposed to take care of one. Plus, there was no way he was ever going to let some stray cat in his house - it could have diseases or something.
The grin on Kaesi’s face seemed to quickly disappear; instead it was replaced with a frown and a heartbroken look on her face. “Why not? I promise I will take care of him, he can be like my child or something - I’ll buy the food and clean the litter box and give him baths and-"
“I said no, Kaesi,” the brunette shook his head. In some aspects, the brunette felt like a dad telling their child no to getting a pet; which was in a way what had just happened.
“Fine. I’ll be living in your backyard with Hobi then,” the girl shrugged. “I’ll go ask your neighbors for a tent and a blanket and just live out here. I’m not letting this little ball of fluff go without a home - I’ve already become attached to him.”
The redhead stood up from the position she was in the grass and walked away, the little kitten still held closely to her chest. She walked all of the way to the other side of the backyard - as far away from the rest of the group as possible - before sitting down once again and snuggling the kitten.
Jungkook frowned at the sight - it wasn’t like he meant to hurt the redhead or anything, he just didn’t want a stray kitten in house. But seeing how sad the girl was and how badly she wanted to keep the kitten, really made the brunette feel guilty about his actions.
“Hey, uh, Jungkook-ah?” Hoseok spoke up, causing the brunette to focus his attention on the ginger instead of the redhead and the kitten in her grasp. “Is there any way that Kaesi can keep the kitten, please? I’m sure you’re worried about a lot of things but I don’t like seeing her sad - it makes me sad.”
The brunette was a little bit taken aback at what the ginger said, especially since he kind of just confessed that seeing her sad, makes him sad in turn. And to keep both of them happy, the kitten would have to be in the picture. That being said, the brunette didn’t want a ball of fur running around his house freely without knowing if it had any diseases. Of course, the kitten could possibly help with the relationship between Kaesi and Hoseok. There were pros and cons to the kitten and the brunette just didn’t know which one to go with.
On one end, he had a better chance of getting his characters together with the help of the kitten, on the other hand, the kitten could have diseases and the last thing the brunette wants is for the kitten to die and to sadden the redhead more than she already was.
“Please, Jungkook-ah,” Hoseok looked over at the girl who was laying in the grass, holding the kitten up in the air as she smiled sadly at it. “I just want her to be happy.”
The brunette sighed in defeat. After hearing those last few words from Hoseok, Jungkook knew he couldn’t keep the kitten away from the girl. Besides, it could be a good asset in getting the two to strength their relationship and maybe, get them to be in love to finish his story. Of course, he doesn’t want to force it on the two.
“Fine,” the brunette sighed again, Hoseok smiling widely at the brunette before tackling him the grass for a hug. “But it’s staying in your guys’ room at night. And the litter box is going in the bathroom next to your guys’ room.”
Hoseok only nodded his head, agreeing with the terms the brunette set out. As long as the girl was able to keep her kitten, then the other things won’t as much of a drag. After all, all he wants is for the redhead to be happy.
Jungkook watched as the ginger got up from his seat on the grass and walked over to the redhead. He sat down on the grass next to her, probably telling her that she can keep the kitten. Kaesi was quick to sit up and hug the ginger - careful though, since she didn’t want to hurt the little kitten.
“You did a good thing, Jungkookie,” the blonde grinned widely as he laid his head against the younger boy’s shoulder. Jungkook only nodded his head, subconsciously leaning against Taehyung in the process.
Maybe there will be a happy ending after all.
