Most people don't get votes when you have started writing a story so don't feel upset if you don't get votes straight away.  A good starting point is getting your friends to vote on your stories.  You could also vote on other people's stories because if they are starting out or kind then they will probably vote on your stories too. 

An easy way of finding people starting out is search a tag and look at the new stories, most of them are people starting out who aren't massively confident so it helps if you vote on their stories or comment on them to give them a confidence boost.
