Chapter 4

For the new few weeks, Peter was never himself. He stayed locked away in his room and rarely coming out. Tony came in every now and then to talk to him, or tell him things his friend Ned had told Tony over text.

Peter hasn't been on his phone in so long, wanting to avoid all the 'I'm so sorry for your loss!' bull crap.

The funeral was the worst day for Peter. He was angry and upset, and felt like breaking down the entire time. He knew literally no one there, which bothered him. They all treated him like they've been hanging out for years. Once they got back home, he rushed into his room, screaming and sobbing, letting everything out. He would soon fall asleep and another day would go by. He was afraid of what  the next days would bring him, who would die next. Who would abandon him next? All the 'who would..'

Sleep deprived and red eyed, Peter left his room to get some food. As he went in the common room, no one really said much. Tony was relieved that his 'son' was actually alive and didn't die in his room. It was an outstretched thought, but Tony kept thinking it day after day.

Peter poured himself a bowl of cereal, although it was almost 2pm. The Avengers has their little conversations together, and everything seems a bit more normal that day.

"Sir, it appears that there is social services here to take Peter." Friday said, startling the room.

"What? Where am I going?" Peter looked up at Tony, "I don't want to leave you."

Obviously Tony had the plan about becoming his new guardian, he's just never gone over it with CPS. Tony gave Peter a firm nod, knowing he isn't going anywhere.

"Shall I let them in?" Friday asked.

"Uh, yeah bring them up here." Peter quickly looked around the room, hoping someone to stop Tony from allowing people to take him from his home.

"Hello Mr. Stark, we are here for Peter Parker." A woman with blonde hair tired up in a messy bun walked in the room alongside a tall man with brown glasses.

"Can we talk in a different room? Just real quick?" Tony was already walking to the other side of the room, and the two professionals followed him awkwardly.

"Okay, I should have called way earlier, but I am interested in becoming his legal guardian." Tony avoided eye contact and was expecting an answer like 'Yes, of course!', but instead he got one like this.

"But you're Tony Stark?" The woman with the bun asked.

"Okay you are," Tony leaned over to see her name from her ID, "Linda Smiths. Why does it matter, I love this kid so much and I don't want him in some foster care." The man and woman exchanged looks.

"Uh, I think we can figure something out here, should we head to the table?" Oh, Tony was already so happy. So happy that they didn't just burst out laughing because he wants to help a kid.

Once they got to the table, they spread out a few papers and talked for quite a while. Tony was hoping to ask Peter about his opinions, but they just talking, plus Peter wasn't even in the room.

"I'm gonna take a break here, go talk to the kid, if that's alright?" Tony got out of his chair after about two hours of talking over paperwork. They gave him a nod and Tony ran off into the elevator.

"Peter! I got some news for you!" Tony called as he left the elevator. Peter then slowly walked out of his room, obvious that he was crying before.

"Hey, hey, what's wrong?" Right as Tony asked that, Peter fell into his arms, crying some more.

"I don't want to leave you! You're the only family I have left." He cried.

"No, no, you aren't leaving. That's what I was going to tell you." Tony replied, hoping the crying will just stop and Peter can have a smile on that face of his.

"What?" The teen looked up confused. Confused and a little bit worried about what Tony did.

"I talked to the people down stairs, we're figuring out something where I am you're new guardians. I am sorry that I couldn't talk to you about it before, it was just bad timing." Peter broke the hug and a small grin appeared onto his face.

"Wait, really? So, I won't leave you?" He let out a small laugh.

"Really, I am not joking here." And with that, Peter jumped into Tonys arms, laughing and crying of joy and happiness. Peter was actually really happy for the first time in so long, and Tony too. The one thing he is hoping for is to have everything go back to normal. Peter won't be so sad and moody all the time, Tony won't be constantly worried. He hoped that Peter could finally get back to school, and finally accept Mays death.

After embracing the news and hugging for a while, Peter and Tony made their way downstairs, with smiles covering their faces.

"What did you two do?" Natasha asked, even thought she already new the answers. Tony replied with a smirk and headed back to his spot he was sitting in before, around the social services workers.

"Alright well, we went over most of the paperwork before, now we just you and the kid to sign at the bottom here." The male said. Tony motioned Peter to come over by him and the kid took a seat next to him. They signed the two areas and talked for bit. Most of the things Peter didn't understand, but he mostly wasn't even listening to them. He was way too happy to be able to sit still and listen to people talk about a boring, yet exciting subject when he was told the best news in his life, (although May coming back to life would be a little better).

"Alright, that's settled. Also, if you're doing anything with his aunts apartment, do it soon, cause it's getting cleared out on Friday." Linda, the one with the messy bun, said as she got up. Tony gave her a nod and they left the building.

"So, is Peter now your son?" Bucky asked, sitting on top of the counter.

"I guess? I'm not sure what to call it. I didn't become his dad, I'm his guardian." Tony replied even though to him, Peter is now his son because Peter had always felt like a son to him. Tony would always keep him safe and Peter would go for him for protection when May wasn't an option.

"Hey, we should go out for dinner, and then do movie night after. Celebrating Tony and Peters news!" Steve suggested. Even thought it was pretty early for dinner, everyone agrees and left to get ready.

"You sure this is what you want? You're a little quiet." Tony looked down at the kid, who was in fact, being really quiet.

"No! This is exactly what I want! I'm just really happy and if I release the happiness, I'll be bouncing across the walls, and will never stop." Tony laughed and patted the kid on the back.

"So where are we going?" Tony asked the group. Everyone was dressed up in casual wear. Peter kept on his joggers and t-shirt and just slid on his vans. Tony had on black trousers, a long sleeve grey shirt, and a black jacket. Sam and Bucky wore joggers, and matching hoodies. Natasha wore leggings with a white shirt.Everyone else stayed behind, not going out.

"We can go to Mr. Delmars sandwich shop! He makes the best sandwiches!" Peter suggested with a big smile.

"I'm fine with that." Natasha replied, grinning.

"Mr. Delmars it is!" Tony declared as the team left the building. They decided to walk instead of getting a limo, since it was quiet close. It was already November, so it was only about 50/40 degrees out. Everyone complained at the cold, but kept walking while shivering.

The entire walk there, Peter was talking, asking questions, commenting at things he new about while his teeth chattered. Although Tony wanted him to be back to his normal self, he wish Peter would stop talking for once.

As they entered the shop, everyone sighed in relief due to the heat.

"Ah, if it isn't the famous Peter Parker! It's so great seeing you again!" Mr. Delmar exclaimed, raising his arms up.

"Same here, and I've got some friends." Peter smirked, showing Mr. Delmar the avengers. He replied with a gasp and ran back around the counter.

"Thank you for saving everyone! I am such a fan!" Everyone gave him a small smile and Mr. Delmar scurried back around the counter.

Everyone chose their sandwich and were now sitting at a group of tables pushed together so they could all fit together. Delmar gave the sandwiches free since they were the Avengers, I mean who wouldn't thought.

"Damn, this place does make the best sandwiches." Sam said, with his turkey and cheese stuffed into his mouth.

"I told you!" Peter laughed and then took a bite into his own sandwich.

They were all happy, munching on their food. Making jokes, laughing, telling stories, playfully arguing. They ending up staying there for almost two hours, and Peter was beyond tired. His day was full of many emotions. Sadness, hopeless, excitement, love, happiness. He leaned his head against the side of Tony and Tony kept an arm around his shoulder.

"We should get going, it's a little late." Steve said, noticing Peter almost asleep.

"I agree. Tonight was a blast though." Bucky sighed as he stood up. They all thanked Mr. Delmar and immediately shivered as they left the building.

"Hey Tones, we're gonna get some drinks, wanna come?" Sam asked, completely forgetting that they had a 15 year old with them.

"No, I gotta take Peter home, plus I'm pretty tired."

"Alright, well we'll see you back at home." Sam waved as they crossed the street, heading to a bar.

Tony sighed, letting out a cloud that seemed like he was smoking. He was quite tired, but had to stay awake to get the kid home.

"Can we get a ride? I'm tired and it's to far to walk." Peter sat down on a cold bench, shivering.

"Yeah, I'll call Happy." Tony sat beside him, and pulled out his phone. The call with Happy was short and didn't need any persuasion, surprising Tony.

As they sat there, waiting for Happy to arrive with a warm car. Peter ended falling asleep while his rested on Tonys side. His breathes were long, and let out a cloud of steam every time he exhaled. Tony took his jacket off and wrapped it around Peter, although he was pretty cold.

After a few minutes, Happy arrived and parked the car on the curb.

"Kid, your ride is here, time to go home." Peter groggily woke and rubbed his eyes. They slowly walked towards the car and Peter practically fell into the back seat, passing out immediately.

"This kid," Tony sighed to himself, "move your legs." Peter didn't reply or move, having Tony to move his legs himself. He bucked Peter in, even though he was laying down, and then buckled himself. Happy drove off on the cold, dark road. The car ride was quiet and nothing happened, but Tony still cherished the moment. Taking his son home to the warmth after being cold and tired. Sure, he may have exaggerated it, but it still meant a lot to him.

When they finally got to the facility, Tony had to carry Peter inside. Okay, Tony was strong, but not strong enough to carry a 15 year old kid. Giving up, he dropped Peter onto the couch. Before covering him up with a blanket, he slid his shoes off and gave him a kiss on his forehead. Tony took his jacket and put it on the floor, along with his own shoes. He laid on the opposite side of the couch Peter was on and moved some of the blanket onto himself. Peter moved around a bit until he found the perfect spot to stay asleep in. Tony smiled to himself and felt warm inside. He was glad that Peter, who was now basically his son, was safe and warm and happy.

"Fri, turn off the lights." The AI system gave no response, but the lights dimmed down to darkness right away. Tony closed his eyes and thought of many things. Peter, the team, his new life. Besides that one book, thinking would be one way to help Tony sleep.

Within a few fast minutes, Tony was fast asleep. The house was peaceful and quiet. The two sleeping on the couch in the common room, and the rest of the team that didn't leave, in their rooms sleeping or at least staying quiet. This peacefulness was something that gave Tony chills, yet made him satisfied. Chills because he never knew something could be so quiet, but satisfaction, because he enjoyed quietness. He enjoyed the quietness that kept him asleep, but also hard working in his lab.

In the middle of the night, Peter moved around quite a bit, waking Tony every time. One time, Peter kicked him hard in the shins, causing Tony to groan awake. He turned on his phone flashlight to see Peter peacefully sleeping there. Tony rolled his eyes and laughed as he turned off the light. He went back to sleep, smiling. He was happy for some reason. All was happy.

Ughhhh the ending is terrible!! And omg over 2k words😔😦 wow. Also I know that's now how adoptions and shit like that happen, I just made it how I would want it to happen, (unless that's actually how it happens then my mad)
