Driving to back to Donte's grandmother house, I can tell Aaliyah and Donte got along well. Now, her mom and siblings on the other hand I don't know about that. They seemed to really hate Aaliyah, I guess because she isn't like them you know, nasty and just plain and boujie. I can't imagine having a family like that, I'm used to the discipline and earning my way through life than just having it handed to me, but hey, not everyone I the same. Finally arriving to the house, we got out to see a little of the family dancing to the old school music and other conversations and laughing. I see that Grandma is rocking in her chair while the kids run around trying to catch each other. Walking to her, I hugged her while she hugged me back.

"Hey baby, I want to thank you for being here for Donte and the rest of the family for this hard time. And your family also for giving a reaching support, I couldn't ask for anyone better than you. " making me smile a little, I can tell she meant it. I'm glad I met her, her and my grandma would've got along just fine.

"You know I'll be here for him and the family, you were there when I told you about my momma having Cancer and you gave me good advice to handle the news. its crazy how things changed. At first I hated him, didn't want to be with him, hell, at a time I was go pick him over Donnrie and people thought I was stupid to pick him,  before I knew what my ex did to my best friend. But at the end, I was silently falling for him, even when others hated it. Everyday, I still feel people judge me choosing him." sitting next to her and looking at everyone run around and laughing while Donte was dancing with his cousin

"At the end of the day baby, this is your life. Nobody can't judge your life except you and God. You chose him because in your eyes, you see past his sins and dirtiness of him. You gave him a choice and chose you. Whether you like it or not, you need him and he definitely need you. Ever since you been in his life, he getting his life in order, before, he never really came to see me because he was guilty of how he put all that stress on me, even though I knew why. That Kevin dude wasn't meant for him, and he knew it deep down but he chose to ignore it and let it affect him even more. But, now he getting his things together. The day he rode over there to the hospital because you called him crying that you need him, he knew then. He called me and told everything, and I told him to stay by your side. Baby, he loves you. You know, many people didn't like me with my husband" making me look at her questionably while she nodded "They didn't like me with him because he was white and I was black. During that time, a black woman dating a white man was like a abomination in a white man eyes. His family disowned him and put hatred towards me. They  would purposely drive by our home and throw rocks at our house, even a few member tried to convince him that I was nothing but a whore, and that I would be cheating on him. They went far to even try to kidnap me and rape me so that he would be disgusted with me. Until one day, we had enough and move to New York City, and that's Donte mom was born some years later. my side of the family always stayed in touch with me, but not his family. Till this day, even after my husband death, they haven't called to check on me. But that's life, you lose some, you win some. What I'm tying to tell you, you can't always have someone support, you have to be sure in your heart." nodding my head in understanding while looking at Donte and just look at him smiling with his family. He looked at me and winked at me while I smiled.

"I understand Grandma, and you're right. I really needed this conversation. But your husband family really never tried to contact you? even about your child?" shaking her head no

"Not even when Donte's momma was born. No, they called and they told me they hope she dies a horrible death so that I can live in misery and to go to hell, and when he heard they called and said that, he cut them off completely. I don't like what they did, but, it is what it is. Yes, I wish one of them would at least call me and see how I'm doing, but you can't always expect what you want in these type of situations." nodding my head, I looked and seen Donte telling me to come here, making me get up and letting grandma that I will be back. Walking in front of him he was smiling which was a bit weird and scary at the same time.

"Hey everyone, I would like everyone to gather around I have a special announcement I would like to announce" seeing everyone start walking in the middle while he grabbed my hands.

"Adonis, you was there for me when I was down on my mother's birthday and you was there for me when I just wanted to give up. Even when people said no, you let me on and be you light shining knight. You let me in your life and let me be there for you. I love you so much and I know you the same. I know this ins't the right time, but will you take this promise ring to show our love until I put another ring on your finger when the time is right?"getting on one knee he opened a box with a ring in it, making me look shock and a tear come down my face.
