Help
The team quickly made their way back to the Bioship without, luckily, being seen. They made it to the cliff where the ship was parked and froze as they came face to face with Cheshire sitting on the ground by the hatch.
"Cheshire," Artemis gasped, "why are you here?"
Jade stood and took off her mask, her face showed guilt and her eyes had a hint of hope, "I need your help." She said with a frown.
"You're being serious? Like actually?" Atremis gave a skeptical look to which Cheshire repeated herself.
"What is so serious you are asking for help," Artemis asked warily.
Jade looked at the others in the group, "can we talk on your ship? I don't want someone overhearing this." She looked around carefully at the area around them that seemed empty.
Artemis looked to their leader and explained that this must be important. "Very well," he accepted and motioned for Miss Martian to open the ship. They all entered and settled in their seats and turned to Jade. "It's about Richard," she started and the room leaned forward, "I want you to come back and kidnap him before the end of the week." The bioship lifting off.
"You want us to kidnap Robin from a base of highly trained assassins that he is legally bound to?" Superboy rose a brow, "in less than five days." Jade nodded.
Kaldur stopped the others from protesting, "why? We are heroes, kidnapping is considered a crime and is therefore against our morals."
Jade turned to her sister, "they're going to make him do the initiation ritual after a couple of test runs."
"That's fast for new recruits," Artemis raised a brow.
Jade huffed in annoyance, "that's not the problem, the problem is that he's going to be tested as the Demon Head's heir." She hissed out her point to the other's curiosity of the others.
"What does that mean?" Aqualad asked.
Artemis looked worriedly towards her sister, "it'll kill him." Silence ensued as Artemis breathed the words.
Jade nodded as she gave the group a moment to process the statement. "You can't come back to Infinity Island like this but if you catch him on his trial runs you might stand a chance," the assassin spoke clearly, making sure they were focused on what she was saying. She pulled out a piece of paper, "These are the contracts he's gonna get for the week. They're both protection and information retrieval missions so he won't be told to kill anyone yet."
Kaldur took the paper and read it carefully. "Why help him, help us?" Connor voiced.
Jade gave a small smile, " let's just say I owe him for a few things."
"Owe him?" Wally leaned forward.
"I'm not here to spill all my secrets," Jade smirked, her self-confident defence returning as she replaced her mask back onto her face. "You can drop me here," she said, standing up.
"We're pretty far out. I'd be safer to drop you off when we're closer to land," Miss Martain iterated.
Jade rolled her eyes behind the mask, "I have to swim back anyways darling. I'll be fine." They all gave each other looks but M'gann agreed and opened a hatch that the assassin disappeared through.
A/N So I know this is kinda forced for the plot and if I ever rewrite this I'll 100% make it better but you all are amazing for putting up with my procrastination tendencies so I feel you all deserve to have this instead of me fretting over it working or not.
Love you all! -Ghost
