Chapter two

When the news came that she was pregnant, they cried all day. And so Rose did everything to reverse the curse but she couldn't. Her sister's generation was cursed too. She accepted the blame for acting on an impulse, but accepting the blame wasn't good enough. Her cousins told her, the only solution was to kill the baby and carry on with their lives.

If only the results had come before their encounter with Bernard, she wouldn't have said those words. She would've cursed only him and not his generation.

It was tempting to kill the child. But Lisa reflected on the love she shared with her husband and said no. Deep down her heart; she wished he'd come back and tell her it was all a bad dream. She knew she could work things out. She believed her sister could reverse the curse as time went on.

Rose even learnt a lot of spells but none of them worked. She summoned their grandmother's spirit but she refused to come. She was angry. To her, Rose misused her powers and she wasn't going to come until she fixed her own problem. But more like so; she didn't know how to undo the spell.

Lisa's belly grew bigger and bigger. Finally, she gave birth to a girl and Lisa called her Natasha the moment she held her but unfortunately Lisa died during child birth. Between life and death, she begged her younger sister to reverse the curse so her daughter would find happiness and all that she deserved. She also begged her to love and cherish her daughter as if she were hers.

She told her how their grandmother was calling unto her spirit. She kissed her daughter for the last time and her head lifelessly fell on the pillow. Her breath ceased as she watched her lifeless body and watched her daughter in her sister's arms. Her eyes was left open.

Her spirit stood by Rose and she cried as she heard her daughter cry loudly. She couldn't bare to see her sister cry also. She knew she died before her sister could reverse the curse and she would blame herself for the rest of her life.

***
Natasha was adorable and pretty. Rose took her as her own. She devoted her life loving her. Natasha grew up knowing and loving Rose as her mum.

Everyone believed the curse would never work because she was pretty and Rose hoped it would be so. However, even those who had believed that didn't want their children to get closer to her to an extreme of falling for her.

***
Bernard also succeeded in his work. His large company progressed each day. His wife gave him everything and he became as successful as he wanted. Even though he never forgot about the curse, he hoped and prayed it wouldn't come to pass since he didn't love his wife. His wife had a daughter who he hoped would see him as the father she never had.

He again hoped some day Lisa would forgive him and find someone who would love her like the way she deserved. He felt so guilty that he didn't even have the courage to ask of her or look for her. He always prayed for her happiness.

To Bernard, his wife's daughter; Geisha was nothing but adorable. But he wished he had a daughter with Lisa. Even though he wished to have children, he couldn't anymore. He was scared his unborn children would suffer for his foolish ambition.

Geisha was only four when her mother married Bernard and to her; she was happy she finally got herself a dad to brag about when she went to school.

Bernard loved and cared for Geisha as if she were his. Bernard knew he had to tell her if only he wanted his company to hold its validity and wealth. She had to know about the curse and he wished she chose wisely. He wasn't ready to take any risk. Should Rose be as powerful as her grandmother, the curse would not stay unrest and unsettled even if he had no children himself.

***
Natasha's relationships ended in chaos. They were all a mess. Finally, she also got herself pregnant, gave birth to a girl, and Rose knew it was a bad omen.

Natasha's daughter was also beautiful. She looked just like Lisa. She was named Samantha and Rose wished she'd be the family's breakthrough. Even though Rose didn't get married herself, she knew she'd never find the happiness she dreamt of, knowing she cursed her sister's generation.

Rose felt if she had known and learnt more about her grandmother's spells and powers, she wouldn't have lived her life in regrets. So she decided to change the family's rule. She was going to teach Samantha all that she was going to be taught when she become of age.

And so Rose initiated her granddaughter and she told her about her grandfather. She needed to instill the hate and disgust in her. She would turn Samantha against her grandfather and even if it does no good to them, she'd be satisfied just knowing that Bernard's granddaughter hated him also.

And Rose achieved that. Samantha hated her grandfather when Rose told her about their past. Samantha grew up with plans to destroy Bernard and his family. One thing Rose loved about Samantha was; she was fierce, fearless and did whatever she wanted until she was satisfied with herself. She didn't care about anything except for her mum and grandmother.

It was her time to embrace and control magic. As she grew, she learnt so many things from her grandmother. And Rose was happy about her progress with magic. Whenever she went to school and anyone attacked her or called her names, she just looked at them and something happened to them. They knew better than to double cross her but a few just wanted to know how true words were. Her grandmother told her it wasn't necessary for her to let them know what she was chanting. As far as her heart knew what she wanted, it would happen and she loved it.

Geisha already got married and had given birth to two children. She didn't know about the curse until she graduated from school. Bernard told her everything and asked she made her choice very well. And she chose to love. Her choice wasn't entirely bad.

Bernard told her to get married, give birth as early as possible so that by the time he died, his grandchildren would take over. Geisha had nothing to do with the company. So she had a peaceful relationship with her husband and family. She had two children; Paul and Theodat.

As they grew up, they knew about the curse but unfortunately none of them wanted to marry; they both chose wealth. It saddened Bernard's heart but he wasn't going to stop until he got one to marry. Before his second wife died, he promised to take good care of her daughter whom he had loved as his and her properties which she had entrusted him with, since day one.

Bernard was proud of his grandsons for how far they had come with their businesses especially with the younger one; Theodat. He was full of ideas and skills. Bernard saw himself in him. He was ambitious and would do anything to keep the company growing.

Bernard finally had hired a private detective to find out if Rose was ok or married...not for him to go back to her but to ease him and clear his guilty conscience.

Paul devoted all his time into the company and Theodat aside doing same, he devoted a little of his sleeping hours to mess around with girls. They had always warned him but he always said to them, "I can't forget that I'm still a man just because a foolish woman cursed us."

Bernard reminded him always that the woman wasn't just a woman but a witch. Theodat laughed the first time he got to know about the curse. He asked if his grandfather didn't know she was a witch or he just decided to believe she was not a witch. He just didn't want to believe his grandfather's story.

At the age of twenty-two, every guy, which came into Samantha's life, only toyed with her. She wanted to enjoy both love and wealth. She didn't want to understand it when they told her nothing could be done. She wanted to prove them wrong. She gathered every book. She learnt them and put them into practice but they never worked out. She told herself she could do it because she controlled magic now.

Then she woke up one day and told her grandmother she'd go and claim her shares of her grandfather's inheritance. And she'll rest at nothing until she gets half of it. Then she could think about finding love.

When she told Rose, she didn't allow her but as she convinced her, she accepted. All she had to say was she'd be destroying him if she took almost everything from her grandfather.

But as weak as her mother; Natasha was, she was against it. Even though she loved and respected her mother, her mind was already set. Natasha saw there was no hope and began to talk to Rose into stopping Samantha.

But Rose thought of one absurd thing to say. She didn't even think of that. It took Natasha and even Rose herself by surprise.

"Mum that is so wrong. I won't let my daughter get pregnant for my brother or my brother's son sake of you think it's the solution," she said while pacing the room with uneasiness. She had allowed her mother to control her daughter but not with this. It was going to end now.

"Mum I don't want to end up like you. I'm going to London next week. And don't think about stopping me. I can control magic, have you forgotten? I can even stop time from moving," Samantha also added as she overheard them arguing from her bedroom. She lied knowing it's impossible to stop time from moving but she liked to think she could do it.

"That is it mum, you two can work together and go into the past and correct everything," Natasha suddenly suggested.

"Even if I do so, Samantha can't go. We can't change the past. The past can never be changed, we can only learn from it," She then ignored Natasha and talked to her granddaughter, "Samantha, don't forget the rules in performing magic... one rule is, you cannot force someone to love you and you can never know what is in the heart of the one you love," Rose preached.

"I know grand mum. Don't worry, i know what to do," Samantha said, too full of herself and she was sure she'd destroy the man who brought nothing but pain to her family.
