I felt my heart pumping in my chest, releasing my arms from in front of my chest. "And I don't believe for one damn second that you're as innocent as you're pretending to be." I hissed. Liam's expression hardened. "Careful," he growled at me, but I slightly shook my head. "No," I replied quietly. "I'm done being careful," I added when I felt somebody taking my hand. "Riley." I heard Chibs say behind me. I twitched my hand away from his, slightly raising my hand to stop him. "Not yet." I quietly said over my shoulder, turning back to Liam. "I've watched you since we got here," I told him, and Liam scoffed in return. "Have ye?" he asked, and I nodded. "Yeah." I quietly replied, raising a hand and pointing at his chest. "Every time something goes wrong, you're somewhere nearby," I told him. "That's an accusation," Liam grumbled. "It's a question," I replied with a light shrug and a mini crack of anger in my voice. "Was it you?" I asked him. Liam stared at me without saying anything. "What?" he asked back. "Paddy." I simply said. "Was it you?" I asked. I could feel the mood shift in the whole room, and my breathing was getting heavier. "You knew where everyone was." I said after a long pause. "You knew things you shouldn't have known." I added, slightly narrowing my eyes, not leaving my eyes off Liam's face. I felt his face harden. "You're making assumptions," he replied slightly through his teeth. I took another step, closing now only a tiny bit of space between us. I could feel his aftershave on his body mixed with alcohol and tobacco. "I'm making observations." I calmly replied, but inside my body I was furious. "And my gut has been screaming at me since the first time I saw you." I snarled at him just as I felt a tight grip on my arm, and when I looked, I saw Chibs. "Lass, that's enough," he told me. I just shook my head. "No." I growled, not looking at my husband, keeping my eyes on Liam. I pointed my finger I had lowered back, at Liam. "I don't trust him." I told Chibs, finally turning my head to look at Chibs. "You don't know me." Liam replied, and I turned back to him. "I know enough." I replied, glaring at him. "You know nothing," he snapped. "Then prove me wrong." I yelled, leaning my head closer to his. Liam went silent. My eyes filled with anger. "Paddy was good to me." I said more quietly. "he made me laugh." I added, and I could feel something in my throat, swallowing it down. "And now he's dead." I said, almost whispering it, fixing my eyes back on Liam. "So forgive me if I don't stand here and pretend I don't have questions." I growled. "He was family, and he was innocent, and now he won't know how it is to be an adult because you killed him." I snapped, getting even closer to him, digging my finger into his chest, making him step back. "Riley." Chibs called behind me, grabbing my arm again, and this time I didn't fight back. "Something is wrong with him." I whispered to Chibs, turning my head towards him. "I told you at the harbor when we arrived something was fishy about him." I added. Chibs held her gaze. "I know ye think that," he quietly told me, and I looked at Chibs. "I don't just think it." I replied, turning my head back to Liam. "I feel it." I mumbled. Liam shook his head. "You're grieving. You're angry. You're looking for someone to blame," he told me, my expression turning cold. "Don't you dare tell me what I'm feeling." I hissed. "I'm warning ye," he said, pointing his finger now at me. "And I'm warning you." I hissed, pointing my finger back at him, and I could feel Chibs holding me back. "If I find out you had anything to do with Paddy..." I growled but stopped myself from saying more. Chibs stepped between them. "That's enough." Chibs grumbled softly, pushing me two steps back while I stared over my shoulder. For several seconds, nobody spoke. Then Jax appeared beside Chibs. His eyes moved from me to Liam. "She's not the only one watching you," he finally said; his voice was something between calm and angry. I saw Liam looking towards Jax. "But neither of us has proof," he added. I felt my fists clench. "Yet." I grumbled. "Ye don't need to like him." I heard Chibs tell me, and I looked over at him. "I don't." I replied. "But ye do need to stay safe," he told me. I finally exhaled; my anger hadn't disappeared yet. Not even close. But she stepped back. Liam watched her carefully. Riley gave him one last look. "I'll find out." I hissed, stepping next to Chibs, wrapping my arm around him. Chibs led me away from him so I could calm down. Jax stayed behind. His eyes remained on Liam. The room slowly began breathing again. But the tension didn't leave. Because Riley had said the thing everyone else had only been thinking. And now Liam knew they were watching. Chibs brought me to our room, where I sat down, and Chibs brought me water while he went out to talk to Keith, who might be the reason why, but we all knew who we had in mind. The next morning I woke up, and Chibs wasn't next to me. When I looked at my phone, I saw it was around 8am. When I looked around the Clubhouse, it was quiet; just Luther and one of the other boys were standing around, keeping an eye on things and probably also on me, since I felt somebody following me when I walked outside into the slightly rainy morning, walking over to where the store was, hoping to find Cherry, who was working.
