Chapter 41
The rest of the week flew by, and I couldn't help but feel grateful when I went home on Friday with no one in the Jeep with me.
Clarissa went home early for some reason after school, and Wally had picked her up. She texted me not to worry, and all I told her was to be safe and not to do anything stupid, which she didn't respond to.
Marcus had kidnapped Drew after school to do "man stuff," but I had a feeling that Marcus was going to try to grill Drew about what was going on between "us."
"He better not say anything about me or about whatever is going on between us," I grumbled while I pursed my lips in annoyance and narrowed my eyes, gripping my steering wheel tighter. "Or else I will do something to him, and it will not be pretty."
I could do something that he wouldn't expect... I thought while I smirked and narrowed my eyes further, pulling into my driveway. I know that would cause him to get pissed because he wouldn't be able to do something about it.
I narrowed my eyes and scowled when I saw a car that I didn't know in my driveway and grew tense. "What the hell?" I asked under my breath. "Who else is here, and why was I not contacted?"
I pulled into the garage and parked my Jeep, debating on how I should react. "It better not be a girl that she is smooching and getting naked with," I muttered under my breath, "not under this roof because Lord knows how our mother would react if she finds out."
I sighed and shook my head before I got out of my car, and the garage door that led into the house opened to reveal a nervous looking Wally. "Who's here?" I asked and closed the car door after I grabbed my stuff. "And why didn't you contact me?"
"I did send you a message," Wally said and dipped his head closer to his chest in greeting, and I raised an eyebrow in question. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "You might not have checked your phone after practice and coming home."
I wrinkled my nose and pursed my lips in annoyance because what he had said was true; I didn't check my phone before coming home from practice, so if he said he did, then I knew that he did. "It's been a day," I admitted, and Wally frowned, concerned.
He studied me and cocked his head while he furrowed his brows. "Are you ok?" he asked softly, and I bit back a sigh before I nodded because I was ok, just tired. "Do you just need sleep?" He raised an eyebrow in question.
I nodded again and cleared my throat while I shifted on my feet. "My group is coming later tonight," I said, and he nodded because he knew that was true. "Grams should be here soon, too."
"Your grandmother's room is ready for her arrival."
"Good. Thank you, Wally."
He cleared his throat and looked at the door before he looked at me again. "Clarissa has a friend over," he said. "That's whose car is in the driveway."
"Is it a girl?" I asked and raised an eyebrow, and Wally nodded in confirmation.
"It is," he said and nodded. "They aren't sitting "close" together, but they seem to be comfortable in each other's presence."
I held back an eye roll and scowled. "As long as they don't start taking off each other's clothes, then I am fine with it," I grumbled, and Wally cleared his throat to hold back a chuckle. "They just need to be careful about what they do in this house and make sure it doesn't get back to our parents."
Wally nodded. "Are you worried that someone will say something from here to them?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I shook my head no while I started to walk over to him because I wasn't worried.
"If they do, then they are fired before it can reach their ears," I said while I set my jaw and narrowed my eyes. "I don't want my parents to know because it isn't their life but hers."
Wally nodded again while he stayed silent. He took my bag from me when I walked over to him, and I gave him a side eyed look before I narrowed my eyes and scowled.
"W-"
"They are in the living room, Miss Chris. There is food already there for you too," he said, interrupting me while he bowed his head and hid a small smirk. "I will take your bags to your room."
"Bu-"
"No," Wally said, interrupting me. "Go walk into the living room and get some food. Do you know where Drew is?"
I shook my head, biting back a small sigh while I pursed my lips in annoyance. "No," I said. "He should be appearing here shortly, though. Marcus wanted to talk to him."
"About?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question. There was something in his eyes that I didn't like, and I couldn't help but narrow my eyes and wonder what he was thinking and if he knew about us.
I shrugged and made sure to keep my face blank after I narrowed my eyes at him. "I wish I knew, but I do not," I replied honestly because I didn't know what they were talking about and prayed that it wasn't about us.
I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet before I looked toward the living room and then looked at him. "Whenever he shows up, let him know where we are located so that he doesn't get "lonely."" I rolled my eyes and scowled.
Wally nodded and a small smile appeared on his face. "I will," he promised before he cleared his throat, hiding a chuckle and grew serious instead. "Now, go. If something changes or your grandmother gets here, I will let you know about that, as well."
"Thank you, Wally," I said and dipped my head closer to my chest, grateful that he was there to handle stuff and be a mentor for me. "I do appreciate you. I hope you know that."
Wally smiled and nodded. Relief filled his eyes, and I knew what I said to him meant the world because it wasn't everyday I told him something like that. "I know, Miss Chris," he said softly before he cleared his throat and grew serious while he shifted on his feet. "Now, go ahead and get something to eat before you take your shower. Everything else will be handled while you do that."
I didn't respond and nodded before I walked to the living room, praying that I wasn't going to find two girls on each other because no matter what happens, one of them would always be my little sister and someone that I would try to protect with my life.
No matter what...
