Chapter 42

I entered the living room and leaned against the door, watching my sister and her "friend" talk to each other, and they were sitting so close together that they were almost touching. I didn't say a word while I watched them, both of them giggling while they talked without a care in the world.

I dipped my head closer to my chest and bit back a small smirk, glad that they didn't have any clothes off like I thought would have happened and cleared my throat to announce my presence.

The girls jumped apart and away from each other, and both of them stared at me with wide eyes and guilty expressions on their faces, which I ignored.

"Well, I see that Clarissa decided to bring a friend over from school," I said and looked at my older sister before I looked at the friend. "Are you the one that tried to change how she dressed and acted?" I asked and raised an eyebrow.

"No, she isn't," Clarissa said, defending her friend while she subconsciously moved closer to her. "Callie wouldn't do that to me."

"Good," I said and nodded while I studied Clarissa's friend with a critical gaze because she looked like someone that I knew but in a girl form, and the friend shifted uncomfortably underneath it. "You're Topher's sister, right?" I asked and raised an eyebrow, and she hesitated but nodded in confirmation.

"Yes, Ma'am," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm Topher's sister."

I wrinkled my nose and pursed my lips in disgust when she called me "Ma'am" before I shook my head. "Don't," I said, and she slowly blinked before she cocked her head and looked at me. "Don't call me "Ma'am," please. I am not a "Ma'am.""

"But you are a girl, right?" Clarissa asked while she raised an eyebrow in question, and I looked at her and scowled while I slowly blinked. An amused smile appeared on her face, and she shrugged. "What? You told her not to call you "Ma'am," right?"

I bit back an annoyed sigh before I shook my head and rubbed the bridge of my nose, feeling very annoyed. "I am a girl, but I am not a Ma'am, Clarissa," I said. "I'm too young to be one of them."

"Well, you're almost an adult, Chris," Clarissa said and gave me a pointed look, and I pursed my lips in annoyance while I wrinkled my nose in disgust. "I think it might be time to get used to being called a Ma'am."

I sighed and shook my head before I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet while I pursed my lips in annoyance while I looked at my younger sister. "Please, don't remind me, Clarissa," I said before I cleared my throat again and turned my attention back to Callie. "So, are you staying for movie night?" I asked while I raised an eyebrow in question.

"Yes," Callie said and nodded in confirmation. Her cheeks turned red, and she looked down. "If that is ok with you, of course," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Can I stay for movie night?"

"I-"

I raised a hand to silence my sister, and she narrowed her eyes and scowled. "It doesn't matter," I said and shrugged while I grimaced. "Your brother is coming over anyway. He'll be here shortly after he gets showered and do whatever else he wants to do."

Callie's eyes grew wide, and she looked at my sister before she looked at me while her face grew pale. "What?!" she asked, with a small shriek in her voice while it was barely above a whisper. "What do you mean that my brother is going to be here shortly?"

I blinked and blinked again before I scowled and narrowed my eyes, and Callie flinched and looked away from me. "Well, he is on my soccer team, and we are doing a bonding session tonight," I replied coldly. "I mean, it's Friday after all."

Callie blinked and blinked while she looked at me again. Her face was blank, and I had a feeling that she didn't recall this at all.

I bit back an annoyed sigh and shook my head while I moved my hand across my face. "Never mind," I said before I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet. "So, are you going to be staying?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

Callie hesitated before she looked at Clarissa. She didn't say a word while she looked at her, and I had a feeling that she wanted to know if my sister would be fine if she stayed.

Clarissa hesitated before she slowly nodded. "You can stay," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She cleared her throat and shifted in her seat while she looked at me. "Is anyone else coming?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"The rest of the soccer team, Cupcake, Marcus, Ethan, and Eevie," I said, listing the others that were going to be there. I shrugged and grimaced. "Also Grams might join us, or she might stay in her room. I do not know yet."

Clarissa frowned and grew tense while her face grew pale. "Grams is coming?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, and I nodded in confirmation. "When? Why?"

"Soon," I said while I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check the time. "She's going to be here soon. I don't know when, but I am sure that Wally will know if you ask him." I looked at her before I raised an eyebrow. "Why? Are you scared?"

Clarissa gulped before she slowly nodded and looked away from me, her cheeks turning redder. "Yes," she said, her voice barely above her whisper. "A little."

I raised the eyebrow higher, feeling shocked and surprised. "Why?" I asked while I cocked my head and studied her, mildly impressed. "Why are you nervous about her?"

Clarissa bit her lip and shifted on her feet. She cleared her throat while she looked away from me, her cheeks turning red. She didn't say a word, and I had a feeling that she didn't know if our grandmother would be cool with her.

"Hmph." I dipped my head closer to my chest while I stared at her. "And will be fine with it," I said softly. "She is not like them."

Callie grew tense and looked between us while she pressed her lips into a thin line. Her eyes were wide, and she looked nervous as if I said something that she didn't want me to know. "Do you..." She trailed off and cleared her throat while her cheeks turned red.

I looked at her and raised an eyebrow in question. "Are you asking if I know something about you?" I asked.

Callie's cheeks grew red, and she looked down, not saying a word as if she didn't want me to know something about her, even though I was able to put two and two together.

She was either lesbian or bi...

"Hmph." I pressed my lips into a thin line and looked at Clarissa while I dipped my head closer to my chest. "She will be fine with it. Trust me, I know."

Clarissa hesitated before she slowly nodded. "Ok," she said before she cleared her throat and shifted in her seat. "So what are we going to do?" she asked, changing the subject, and I had a feeling that she was curious but also scared about the subject we were on and wanted to change it to something else.

"We are going to eat pizza and binge watch some movies," I said and pulled my phone out of my pocket to see if I had any texts and saw that I didn't have any. "Is there anything that either of you can't or won't eat, or will you all be fine with whatever we have?" I asked and looked at them with a raised eyebrow.

They looked at each other before they looked at me and shook their heads in unison.

"Whatever you order is fine, Chris," Clarissa said before she cleared her throat and shifted in her seat. "How much pizza do you get, and do our parents know?"

I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet. "Well, we get a lot of pizzas because the boys eat a lot, and our parents don't know," I said and shook my head while I pursed my lips in annoyance. "They don't need to know because it isn't their money that I am using."

Callie and Clarissa looked at each other before they looked at me with blank looks on their faces.

"Then whose money are you using if you aren't using our parents' money?" Clarissa asked while she raised an eyebrow in question. "Are you using your own?"

"Yes," I confirmed and nodded before I cleared my throat and stuffed my phone back into my pocket. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a shower before everyone gets here. If Cupcake gets back before me, then tell him that he owes me ten dollars."

"Cupcake?" Callie asked, shocked and amused, and my sister smiled and nodded, silently indicating that she would tell him. Her eyes grew wide while she looked between the two of us, furrowing her brows before she looked at me. "Who is Cupcake?"

"Apparently that would be me," someone said from behind me, and I bit back an annoyed goran while I closed my eyes slightly. "Isn't that right, Sweetcheeks?"

I bit back another annoyed sigh before I opened my eyes and turned to look at him with a small scowl on my face. "Hello, Cupcake," I said coldly while I raised an eyebrow in question. "What are you doing here? I thought you two were coming later tonight."

Drew bit back a smile and dipped his head closer to his chest, his eyes a little red as if he had been crying. "We are done with what we needed to do early, Sweetcheeks," he said, and I rolled my eyes and scowled.

"What for?" I asked. I furrowed my brows while I cocked my head and studied him, pressing my lips into a thin line while I looked at him, feeling slightly worried for the male before me. "Are you ok? What did you do? What happened?"

Drew shrugged and cleared his throat, pressing his lips into a thin line. "Don't ask, Chris," he said, not looking at me, and I narrowed my eyes and scowled. He cleared his throat and shook his head while he grimaced. "I am fine."

I bit back a small scoff and rolled my eyes. "Bull fucking shit, Andrew," I said, calling him by his full first name and not his nickname like I normally did. I scowled and narrowed my eyes while I turned to look at him fully. "I know full well that you aren't fine. What happened?"

Drew hesitated before he cleared his throat and shook his head. "Not now," he said, his voice growing softer. He cleared his throat again while he looked at my sister and her friend before he looked at me, his eyes red as if he had been crying.

He didn't want to tell me in front of them...

I set my jaw and narrowed my eyes before I sighed and slowly relented, even though I didn't want to. "Fine," I said, moving a hand through my hair. "I need a shower anyway, so I don't care that much."

Drew smirked. "Hmph," he said as if he knew that I was lying and did care, even though I didn't want to. "Whatever you say, Sweetcheeks," he said and winked teasingly. "Whatever you say." He cleared his throat and gestured toward my room with his head, growing serious. "Go ahead, and take your shower. We'll see you in the basement when you are done."

I bit back a small snort while I slowly nodded. "I'll see you then."

And with that, I left and walked to my bedroom, praying that whatever happened to Drew wasn't that bad because no matter how much I was annoyed with him, I still didn't wish any ill will on him, no matter what.
