Chapter 49

My mouth went dry, and I stared at him with wide eyes filled with the fear that I tried but failed to hide. My whole body was tense, and my heart skipped a beat before it pounded hard and fast in my chest. I did not say a word while I looked at him, silently praying that nothing bad would happen to me.

"Well?" he asked with a small snap in his voice while he walked toward me, waving something in his hands that looked like paperwork. "Did you do this?"

I stayed silent and watched him come closer to me, not knowing what to do or to say. I grabbed the railing tight in my hands while I looked at him, not knowing what was going to happen but preparing for the worst.

"Are you the reason that I am getting a divorce?" my father asked and narrowed his eyes while he scowled. Anger and annoyance filled his eyes, and I looked at the paperwork before I looked at him.

I raised an eyebrow in question while I looked at him, still not knowing what to say or what to do. I wasn't surprised that they were finally getting a divorce, but I had no idea why he was blaming me.

"How the fuck did you know that I was seeing someone, you stupid girl?" he asked and narrowed his eyes further while his whole body grew tense. He took another threatening step toward me and gritted his teeth in anger. "Behind your mother's back?"

I bit back a small snort and held back an eye roll while I pressed my lips into a thin line. I did not say a word while I stared at the man that I was supposed to call my father, even though he had no right to that title.

"How the hell did you find out that I was seeing someone, and why would you tell her?" He again waved the paperwork in front of me while he continued to make his way to me, stumbling ever so slightly.

I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet. "Who said that I said something?" I asked and cocked my head, biting back the nervousness and anger that I was feeling because I knew that whatever I did or whatever I would say could be used against me if things got messy.

I had to act calm and unbothered even if it was going to be hard for me to do so...

I cocked my head further to the side and raised an eyebrow in question, setting my jaw. "Or know something?"

"Because how else would you be acting so calm?" he snapped and narrowed his eyes while he looked at me. "Did you know something and do something with this?" He waved the paperwork some more before he threw them to the ground toward me.

I glanced at the paperwork, which was too far for me to read anything, before I looked at him with a blank look on my face. "I did nothing," I said and shook my head, pressing my lips into a thin line while I stared at him. "I said nothing to anyone."

The man that I had to call my father scowled and narrowed his eyes while he studied me, trying but failing to keep himself from falling over.

How he had not killed anyone while he made his way to me by either texting or drinking while driving was a mystery to me, but I was grateful, for I had no idea how I would feel if someone had gotten hurt besides me...

"But you knew."

You knew that I was cheating on my wife...

It was more of a statement than a question, but it was something that I had this urge to answer.

I nodded in confirmation, knowing full well that even if I tried to lie, he would be able to know that I was lying even when drunk. "I knew," I said before I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet. "I knew that you had someone on the side, if not more than one person behind her back."

He folded his arms and scowled while he stared at me, and he swayed back and forth before he stumbled backward. My father tried but failed to stand still, and I watched him with half closed eyes. "And why did you tell your mother?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

I bit back a small snort and held back an eye roll, pressing my lips into a thin line. "I do not even talk to her," I said coldly. "How could I tell her that when I don't even talk to her? She doesn't even want anything to deal with me either."

"Then how do you know that I cheated on her?" he asked and narrowed his eyes further, and I held back an eye roll while I pressed my lip into a thin line and didn't say a word. "Or was that a hunch?"

"There have been some pictures," I replied coldly while I placed my hands behind my back and clasped my hands together. My hands started to shake, but I made sure that he didn't know they were shaking. "Some of your clothes had stains on them that are from lipstick shades that she doesn't wear."

"So you have been in our room when you are not allowed to."

I shook my head, biting back a small snort. "No, Sir," I said. "I have not been into your room because I know that I am not allowed to enter it. Your room is still locked and the only people that go in there are the maids that still work here."

"Then how have you seen my shirts?" he asked. "You are a worthless piece of shit, and I do not know why you thought you were allowed to see my shirts," he said coldly. "Why would you do such a thing?"

"Because I help around the house sometimes with chores, and laundry is one of the chores that I have done for them." I shrugged and grimaced.

"Why?" he asked and took another threatening step toward me, stumbling off to the side. "Why would you be doing chores when you don't need to do it? I am sure that you have made a fucking mess out of something and then decided to have the maids clean it up."

I scoffed a laugh and rolled my eyes while I scowled. "I am fairly decent at cleaning and keeping my space clean," I said and shook my head. "I keep my room tidy without the maids having to do it for me, but you wouldn't know because you are never home, and I have basically had to raise myself for the past fifteen, sixteen, years or so with the help of the maids and whatnot."

My father scoffed a laugh and rolled his eyes, sneering. He took another threatening step toward me and reached into his pocket, looking at me like some caged monster that didn't know anything from right or wrong, and for a moment I wondered if I had gone too far without letting someone stay with me to make sure that I stayed alive.

Oh no...

"Well, guess what?" he sneered with a murderous look in his eyes while he whipped out a gun from his pocket and pointed it at me, and I couldn't help but gasp and take a step back, raising my hands in surrender. "You will never have to worry about that ever again."

He narrowed his eyes further while he cocked the gun and placed his finger on the trigger. "I would ask you if you had any last words, but I do not care about anything that you have to say or do, so all I have to say is see you in hell, bitch."

And with that, and without another word, he pulled the trigger with the gun pointed straight at me and murder in his eyes.

Bang!
