-Chapter Two-

To hunt is to choose
To hunt is to live
But what to hunt,
Is a choice bound by personal truth

Reverend's foot touched the ground upon a stone path within the city. A path that lead to the sewers. Not the most sanitary place to be. Yet, it is a great location to hide a little secret. Filled with alleyways and pathways it is easy to get lost. Not to mention the filth would fill ones nostrils to utter discontent. The dark water that was still with barely a ripple traversing over it. The drops that dripped down from the pipes at an endless pace. There was always a thin layer of over flown wet water that covered the stone walkway.

Reverend hated the smell, it was much stronger to her than to an average hunter or halfling. "It never ceases to disgust me", she muttered walking forward.

"Rude much", said a voice.

Reverend rolled her eyes, "You can take care of yourself Hezelwiggins, or at least you boast so", she said.

"I can, the question is can you?", he asked landing on her shoulder fluttering slightly his wing hitting the back of her head.

"A bird who can't even fly is asking me, a seven thousand year old vampire if she can take care of herself? Well, the world really has changed", sighed Reverend as Hezelwiggins positioned himself.

"I can fly!", objected Hezelwiggins.

Reverend didn't really care and remained silent making Hezelwiggins uncomfortable and he shifted his grey bird feet looking down, "Okay, I glide", he said.

"Hezelwiggins I don't care what you can do or can't do", said Reverend.

"That's why I stay with you!", said Hezelwiggins excitedly.

"Hm....", was all Reverend said.

"But still leaving me alone in the dark was not nice!", snapped Hezelwiggins.

Reverend was silent and she kept walking.

"So now your ignoring me!? What in the hooters did I do to deserve this!", he snapped turning his head all the way around and back.

"I did not leave you, you were the one who left, and I am not ignoring you, I'm simply listening", replied Reverend.

"What if they had eaten me?!", asked Hezelwiggins.

Reverend was silent as Hezelwiggins complained, "You left me in the dark! You know how I hate the dark! My gizzard was going nuts when I didn't see you there! That was rude! Disrespectful! I can't believe you-",

"Aren't we all full of surprises. An owl who can see in the dark, is supposed to hunt in the dark....hates the dark", muttered Reverend.

"You're mean as ever", said Hezelwiggins

"I'm blunt, what do you expect from a vampire?", tested Reverend.

"Well....you are not like the vampires out there, you hunt them.....eat them.....you saved a flightless bird",

"Shut up", said Reverend simply.

Reverend just hated compliments. She hated them.
