Chapter Thirty

THIRD POV
Merry Christmas! A gift of the thirtieth chapter from me to you, enjoy!

"Thanks for coming! Have a good time at Hogwarts you two!" 'Leo' waved behind him as Draco and Tom strode out of the store, spotting Severus easily within the crowds. Draco gently clasped 'Leo's' hand, just to make sure he wouldn't get lost in the sudden groups of people, and to make sure he was safe. That Granger had gotten too close.
Feeling a gentle tightening on his hand, Draco smiled down at 'Leo' in reassurance as they followed their dominants to the last place on the list, the Eeylops Owl Emporium. 'Leo' knew he needed an owl, but Hedwig was still fresh in his mind. Walking in, 'Leo' was a little scared as all of the owls turned together to stare at him. Moving back behind Draco, which also meant he was behind Severus and Tom too, 'Leo' cautiously pulled Draco backwards and out of the shop. Tom chuckled, shaking his head, and led them to another store, the Magical Menagerie. Severus scowled, grumbling about manipulators and reputations while stalking after his mates. Draco smiled cheekily at his subdominant and followed 'Leo' into the door's entryway. Like in Eeylops, all the animals looked at 'Leo', but it wasn't a creepy stare and most only made a noise of acknowledgement before going back to what they were doing. 'Leo' smiled at all of the friendly auras, but frowned when he spotted a small line of light connecting his aura to another's. Gently letting Draco's hand fall, 'Leo' followed the line to a section of the shop filled with birds. Most were owls, but there were a few augureys, fwoopers, eagles, and falcons, even a dodo and a raven. 'Leo' smiled at all of the avians, as they stared at him, but drew his attention to the raven when it hopped forward, cocking it's head to the side. Approaching the bird, 'Leo' let his magic seep from him and prod at the line. His magic, noticing that it was going to help its human, rather than harm, flowed warming magic through their human's heart. 'Leo' smiled and gently reached out his hand, letting the raven do as it wished. The bird stared up into 'Leo's' eyes before picking at 'Leo's' palm, drawing blood. Harry recoiled, as if burned, putting pressure on the small wound. Immediately scenting one of his mates' lifeblood being spilt, Severus quickly walked over to where 'Leo' was, standing in front of a now bleeding raven. 'Leo' cradled his hand to his chest and leaned against Severus, away from the odd bird. It seemed to be satisfied as it pecked at its wing a bit, starting to glow. Severus hummed to himself and 'Leo' cast a confused and slightly scared look towards his dominant, causing the older man to sigh. "It is quite alright Leo, this raven appears to be your familiar. They are only completing the familiar bond." 'Leo' gave a small smile in thanks and turned back to the raven, who had finally stopped glowing. 'Leo' checked his hand for the wound, only to see a small scar where it had pecked him. Gently running his thumb over the scar, he was amazed that the skin didn't feel different at all. 'Yes, my Lord, this is now our familiar mark.' 'Leo' quickly glanced at the bird and sighed when she hopped closer to him. "I guess I should get you out then, huh?" Severus cracked a smile as the raven readjusted her wings, climbing up onto the door. 'That would be most appreciated, my Lord.' 'Leo' cast a silent unlocking spell and held out his hand as the raven jumped onto it, gripping his fingers gently in her claws. "A raven! A great pick! It stands for death, prophecy, and all kinds of luck, Leo." Draco smiled with pride and messed up 'Leo's' hair. "Actually, she's my familiar." Draco's eyes widened and he smiled even brighter, if that was possible. "Let me be the first to congratulate you then, Cousin." A slight grimace could be caught on 'Leo's' face for a second, and Draco winked mischievously. A smartly raised eyebrow from 'Leo' later, Severus was gently herding his little mates to where he could hear the sound of parseltongue. Tom always had the urge to speak to the snakes and check up on them whenever he came to an animal store. "Truly?" The group rounded the snake section corner just in time to see Tom's face close off in anger. 'Leo' gently stepped forward and placed a hand on Tom's arm, giving his dominant an anchor for his raging feelings. "What's the matter?" The five snakes in the tank swiveled their head to look at the new speaker- the one that had a glamour on- and was their Lord. "My Lord? This speaker believes us to be... 'mistreated'." 'Leo' looked up at Tom, who in turn looked down at the little male. At his raised eyebrow, a small smile flittered on Tom's face, before a frown replaced it as he thought of what was happening. "They aren't fed as they should be, they do not have their own separate enclosures, and their cages don't get cleaned regularly." 'Leo' felt a glower fall upon his face as he too realized their predicament. 'Leo' instinctively spread his protective magic over the snakes and silently stalked out of the section, searching for the person in charge of this shop.
Draco followed 'Leo' with a small smile, proud of how his little submissive was so protective over those that fall into his domain. "Excuse me, Sir?" A burly man behind a counter seemingly counting coins looked up from his work gruffly, gazing steadily at the young male. "Yes?" 'Leo' nodded and took a step forward, easily meeting the man's gaze with his own glowing eyes. "Would you happen to be the owner of this shop?" The man easily bristled, and his left hand twitched towards his pocket. "And what if I am?" Harry smiled back up at the man and dropped his heavy aura as he seemingly shrunk, back to the happy little submissive he should be. "Then we would like to buy the snakes you have here." The man sighed, shot 'Leo' a quizzical look, glared at the raven sitting on his head, eyed Draco for a few seconds, and stood up, chair creaking. "Which one do you want?" The man walked with ease towards the reptile section, showing he had either made or been in this shop for a long time. "All of them." The man only shook his head and grumbled a bit, oddly not surprised by the request. "I would imagine you want their supplies as well?" Thinking back to his forest, 'Leo' considered putting the snakes there. "Not at this moment, but if we need anything later, we shall come get it then. Thank you." The man grunted as he reached the snakes' enclosure, taking out his wand to levitate the glass top off and the five  snakes out. "Where would you want them banished to?" 'Leo' ground his teeth together and his magic pulled the snakes gently out of the man's levitation. Letting the snakes settle on his shoulders, 'Leo' glared up at the man once more, ignoring the wand pointed at his face. "I'll have them myself, thank you very much. Animals are like humans, as we are they. Would you banish another human being somewhere? Don't answer that- you wouldn't." The man snapped his mouth shut, glaring down at the little male while eyeing the three wands pointed at him. "You haven't been treating these snakes as you should have, but I'll let you off just this once since I'm going to help them instead. If I hear of any other mistreated animal being kept here, I will take you to court- and you will lose. It is within my rights to shut you down right now- you're lucky I'm feeling forgiving." With a huff, 'Leo' turned around and started to leave, refusing to pay a man that treated animals like they were beneath him. 'Leo' stopped near the front, waiting for his mates, when an idea appeared to him. Purposely leaking his magic into the air, it agreed and dispersed to the many animals in the shop, giving each a small excess of itself to comfort their own little cores. 'Leo' would know if any of these animals were ever in any type of danger. Draco, Tom, and Severus smiled to themselves as they left, seeing the elegant smirk on 'Leo's' face. 'Leo' smiled up at Tom as he gently took his shoulder, apparating them both back to the manor. Dropping his glamour, Harry smiled at the raven's caw as she lept up, alighting on one of his antlers instead. 'A little warning next time, my Lord.' Harry giggled and gently removed the snakes from his shoulders, much to their displeasure. Severus and Draco popped into existence as Harry went to set the snakes on the floor, startling them slightly, but a scared hatchling curled around Harry's hand, shaking in fear. Harry hissed out a coo and gently stroked the snake with a finger as it's tiny blue head swiveled to look at him. "My Lord, please don't make me go! My parents are gone and the older snakes don't like me." Harry's brow furrowed in concern while Tom scowled at the snakes around Harry's feet that were glaring up at the hatchling. "It's okay little one, you may stay with me. If I may ask though, why don't they like you?" At his declaration, the snakes hissed in anger and slithered a little closer to Harry's feet in opposition, not daring to touch their lord or argue with him though. "They said I'm not one of them. They call me a freak." Harry was cruelly reminded of his childhood, and he cuddled the little snake closer to his face, admiring the beautiful thing. "Why is the hatchling different?" Tom glared at the snakes, daring them to defy him. They all hissed lowly, but one answered. "The hatchling is a freak. She is not fertile." A loud growl escaped Harry's throat as he cupped the small snake to his chest. "And you know this how?" Glaring down at the snakes, they bowed their heads and slithered backwards slightly with their tongues flicking out, tasting the obvious anger and disgust. "Three seasons passed and she didn't bare hatchlings." Harry felt his wings flare in disbelief and rage. "That is because she is a hatchling herself! How could you do that? You should have treated her as one of your own!" Harry's magic created a light gray dome around the snakes, while Harry turned away, not being able to look them. "Treating anyone as you did is completely and utterly unacceptable. I had rescued you because the shop owner wasn't taking care of you, but now I find you weren't taking care of this little one. I should bring you back for what you have done. You are lucky though, as I could never do that to anything, no matter the crime. You will be made infertile for what you did and placed in these woods. I will have the forest watching you all, so be careful of what you do. I bid thee leave." Harry's magic took action and the dome became a bubble, rising upwards with the snakes still inside as it changed their fertility. The snakes hissed loudly in anger as Harry's magic floated them out of the manor and into the woods, dropping them roughly on the autumn leaves before dispersing into the forest.
"Th-thank y-you, My Lord." Tiny glittering stars appeared in the snake's eyes as she stared at Harry's face, mostly in disbelief. Harry smiled gently and cupped the snake in his two palms. "It is no problem little one. I will try my best to always protect you. Your early life was much like mine, and I wish to save you from that." The hatchling scented the air and curled around Harry's fingers again, giving off a pearly-white, happy aura. "Alright... what just happened?" Harry felt his doe ears prick forward before he giggled, still gently petting the hatchling. "Sorry Lion, I forgot you guys were here." Draco pouted as Tom chuckled and Severus offered a small smile. "In a basic sense, the snakes were mistreating this little one the same way our precious had been treated and it struck a nerve. They have been made infertile and exiled to the forest." Harry shot Tom a thankful look while Draco scowled, but dropped it as he walked over to his submissive, holding his hand above the little snake in a silent question. Harry nodded, giving Draco a proud smile, as the blonde gently rubbed the soft white fur growing down the middle of little one's back. "Do you know what kind of snake she is?" Harry's brow furrowed as he looked at Tom and Severus. Tom shook his head, but Severus furrowed his brows as well. "I... may know. I remember a legend about snakes that could live in both land and water, but I never thought it to be true..." Stepping forward, Severus gently took the hatchling into his hands and felt her scales, closely inspecting her eyes and the markings on her nose as well. "I believe she is a Hydrophiinae Eglė, a queen of water snakes." Tom and Draco's eyes widened upon hearing the name. "Oh yes, I remember that tale now as well. I had thought the queen had children though, but I may be wrong." Harry, Draco, and the little one listened to the dominants in interest, seeing as they had never heard of such a story before. "No, you are correct. If I remember correctly, the queen goes on land to give birth and, once the eggs begin to crack, retreats to a hidden place while her young hatch. The young snakes then either choose to go back to the water and become like their mother, or they slither off to unknown places, creating a new type of snake." Tom nodded and turned back to the little queen, only to see the hatchling and his submissives staring at both he and Severus. Severus chuckled at the looks on his mates' faces, while a thought popped across Tom's mind. "Little queen, what is your name?" The snake turned her head from Severus to Tom, letting him see the slitted pupils in her glittering eyes. "I am Selene. Why do you ask?" Tom smiled at Selene and lightly pet her top fluff. "I merely wish to know the name of the queen I speak to." Selene seemed to be embarrassed by this, as she curled tighter around Harry's finger, hiding her entire head from Tom's view. Tom chuckled softly as Harry cooed at the little queen, gently petting her back. "What were you all saying?" Draco cocked his head to the side a bit and stared at Tom. "We were only asking her name- Selene." Draco bent down to look at the small snake queen with a smile. "That is a perfect name. A queen should always be the light to everyone's life." Harry smiled at Draco's connection and gave him a small peck on the cheek, a light blush dusting the little submissive's cheeks. Draco stood there, crouched, in shock while Tom and Severus smiled secretly to one another.
