"Brielle!" The manager screamed at me

I came from the stock room with two giant cardboard  boxes in my hands they weighed at least five pounds each.

"Yes Tabitha?" I set the boxes down

"Where were you?! You're slacking at your job you're suppose to be working the cashier station,"

"Tabitha it's called a cash register and that's not my shift it's Amber's. I'm restocking supplies,"

"I sent Amber home,"

"What why?!"

I groaned in my head because I was now the only worker besides Jacob but he doesn't do anything and the things he does do he does them wrong.

"Because I Did now get to work!" She yelled at me

"Don't tell me how to do my job," I muttered lowly

I pushed the boxes aside I looked up and saw three people standing in front of me. A rather cute brunette. A dashing blonde and what seemed to be his girlfriend because he had just kissed her forehead.

"Hi!" I put on a fake smile "welcome to Heather's candy store what can I get for ya'?"

"Umm can I get a" The blonde started to talk before Tabitha screamed at me again

"I'm sorry one moment,"

She came storming to me

"Why are be not stocked?!"

"Because I was going to stock but you told me to work the cash register so I came to do this instead,"

"You can't do anything right I don't even know why they hired you," she rolled her eyes at me

"Let me take this order and then I ca stock up okay?"

"No no it's fine I got it because no body does anything around here!" She stormed off into the back

I walked back over to the customers

"I'm so sorry about that now what would you like?" I said actually apologetically

"It's okay," the brunette laughed lightly

"The couple with me went back to the car because Katrina was feeling sick so I have their orders,"

"Oh I'm so sorry," referring to the girl "what are they?"

"Katrina wanted the giant pop, Sam wanted a number nine and I didn't want anything,"

"Are you sure?" I asked "we're quite good around here," Tabitha cut me off again with a loud scream

"BRIELLE!"

"I'm so sorry one moment," I gave a nervous laugh

She cane right up into my face

"Why haven't you cleaned today?!"

"Because I'm not required to do that today. It was Amber's job todo but you let her go home three hours early,"

"Brielle I swear if you backtalk to me again I will get you fired,"

"But I wasn't,"

She cut me off again

"GO CLEAN!"

"But I'm in the middle of an order then I have to go stock the shelves then I have to go do Jacobs job because he's been asleep in booth for the past 45 minutes!"

"I don't care Bri go clean,"

"It's Brielle. BRE EL," I said "don't call me Bri,"

"Whatever I don't care anymore. I'm leaving so you're closing up tonight. You're going to have to do the entire chore list now because you were back talking the manager,"

She threw her key at me which hit my face and cut it a little and then left. Jacob also got up and followed her.

I was trying so hard not to cry

"Hey are you alright?" I looked back up to see the Brunette staring at me

"Huh?" I said letting a few tears slip " yeah yeah I'm good." I said walking back up to him

"So are you sure you don't want anything else?"

"Yeah," he laughed "I'm on a diet,"

"How?!" I exclaimed

He laughed

I turned around and grabbed the giant lollipop and I grabbed the premade bag labeled #9 that had assorted chocolates that I had premade that morning by myself. I turned back around and handed. Then to him. He gave me the money

"I'm Colby by the way,"

"I'm Brielle," I giggled "You more than likely heard me tell it at my manager,"

"Yeah, your coworkers aren't the greatest,"

"You have no idea but I can't really talk about them here ya know," I said putting my hands up to the side causing him to laugh

"Well I'd love to hang out sometime. You seem pretty cool," he said

"Thanks," I laughed " but I'm pretty lame,"

I looked up from the cash register to hand him his change when he was holding his phone out. I looked at it and it was an empty contact

I laughed a little before putting my information in to it

"You really wanna hang out with this lameo?"

"Why not," he laughed

I handed him the change and his phone back.

"Thanks!" He said

"You're welcome,"

"I'll see you around?" He asked

"I'll be here more than likely,"

"I'll text you!" He called out before walking out the door.

I smiled. Than did everyone else's jobs before closing up the shop. I had shut and locked the door and I walked home.

I opened my door and saw my mom passed out on the couch. I walked passed her and To my room. I grabbed my phone and saw a new message from an unknown number two minutes ago. I opened it

Unknown: Hey Brielle! It's Colby from the store earlier. Just wanted to say hi and make sure I got the right number

I texted him back

Me: hey Colby! Yep you got the right number. It's Brielle

And that's what started it all.

That simple text.
