I opened the door and stepped inside 

"You're crazy for working here," I laughed at Colby 

"Oh well. I chase ghosts and explore haunted places so I was already crazy," he shrugged 

"Oh Colby," I laughed again 

I turned on the lights and walked over to the counter. I took the brown aprons and threw one at Colby. I didn't put mine on yet. Colby went to restock as I filled the bags. 

"Hey Colby!" I called 

"Yeah?" 

"Can you clean the lobby?" 

"Yeah sure," 

We both finished our 'chores' and we sat down and waited for Tabitha to come in. 

"Okay so tell me more about you," Colby said 

"I dunno. just stuff about you I guess." 

"Okay well ummm," I started to think, "I lived in Colorado before I moved her with my parents when I was 12. Then my dad somehow disappeared after he went out for his work. He was an officer. After he left my mom started to spiral down and I basically lived on my own. I then got a job here when I was 14 and I've worked here ever since. I used to work for the owner, Heather, But then she couldn't physically work here so she left and she became only the owner. Umm, my favorite color is lime green and  I don't like fish." I summarized my life for him 

"Wow, I'm sorry about your family," 

"It's alright," I said  "I fine where I am and who I turned out to be," 

I gave a reassuring smile and he did the same 

"Alright Colby what has she made you do while she sits and does nothing," Tabitha came strolling in 

"Nothing, he replied. She actually did more work than I did," 

"Don't lie to me bubba," 

He gave me a puzzled look which was the same look I had. 

"I'm not," He said honestly 

"Sure you aren't. I've seen her longer. She's probably making you say this."

"But she's not" He told her 

The just kept going on and on and I could tell that Colby was getting annoyed. I had to step in. 

"I made Colby do everything Tabitha. I didn't do anything today," I lied 

"That's what I I thought." she spat "Well then get to work. Next time you slip up I will find a way for you to get fired. Colby you can go on break. I'm taking the day off again so have fun here," 

As soon as the door closed Colby looked at me. 

"What did you do that for?!" 

"I had too," I said "she always gets what she wants. She wanted to hear that I messed up so she could get mad at me. that's how she works."

"But it's not true!" 

"I Know!" I yelled "I know, she just doesn't like me." 

Tears pricked my eyes. I looked up from the ground and at Colby. A sad expression came across his face. He stood up and walked over to me who was already standing. He opened his arms and I gladly accepted them. He hugged me and I let only a single tear fall.  

"you're my best friend Colby," I said quietly 

"Don't tell Sam... but you're my best friend too,"
