Chapter 7: The Star
((A/N I love this song))
Jace looked at the map one final time to be sure of his route through the maze, then set off, heading toward the center, where the glow was coming from. After about 20 minutes of walking, he turned the final corner and was almost blinded from the silvery glow. He blinked the spots out of his eyes and approached the platform upon which the light was coming from warily. As he got closer the glow dimmed and when he was right next to the platform he could see what it was.
A star, the first and only one that fell from the skies at the beginning of Minecraft, was floating, suspended midair above the platform.
Jace gaped at it, then reached out and picked it up, cupping it in his hands. He glanced around to make sure no one was sneaking up on him, then quickly opened a portal back to his dimension, and stepped through, shutting the swirling vortex behind him. Jace cast a glance upstairs, hoping Rose was still in her enchanted slumber. He then hurried back into his potion room, and placed the star on his alchemy table and got the tools he needed. Jace knew that this star would greatly enchant the properties of any potion he created with it, so he placed the soul sand and wither skulls in a chest, for he had no need of a nether star now. Jace returned to the table and began the process of chipping off a piece of the star, without shattering the entire star. Picking up a small chisel and a tiny mallet he placed the chisel on the star and gently tapped it with the mallet, creating a hairline crack. Jace breathed a sigh of relief and kept working.
Notch and Herobrine had reached their home in the Overworld and had stopped at the door when Notch was struck by a sudden though. He turned to his brother and spoke. "What if we go to my home in my dimension? It has a much bigger library for our research and rooms specially for us to do the spells we need to find this evil magic."
Herobrine thought about it for a minute, then looked at Notch, his brow furrowed. "What's wrong with my place? I have just as big of a library and special room, AND we are more likely to find out about evil magic in MY library than yours."
Notch looked at him, thinking over his words. "That may be true, but I have a few items I need to pick up at my house."
Herobrine sighed but conceded, not wanted to start another fight with his brother. "Very well. But after we finish in your dimension, we head to mine, I have a few things I need to check as well. You know that I have a few... special items stored there."
Notch nodded and then teleported he and Herobrine to his home, leaving nothing but a scrap of paper behind.
As Jace hit the star one more time, the final piece he would need for his potion chipped off. Jace lay down his tools and gathered up the 4 tiny pieces of star, placing them in a shallow bowl. He gathered up all the tools, and put them away. Picking up the bowl with the shards in one hand, and the remains of the star in the other, Jace walked over to his ender chest and nestled the star inside. Walking over to his potions table and setting down the star bits, Jace lifted one small shard carefully, and placed it in the potion bottle he had prepared. The liquid within turned light purple and the smell of lilacs emerged, sweet and heavy, permeating the room before vanishing. Jace smiled, knowing that his plan was working. All that was needed to complete the potion was a hair from his beloved, so Jace exited the potions room and quietly stole upstairs, back to the room Rose was fast asleep in. Once in the room, Jace silently took a single hair from her head, making sure not to hurt Rose. Turning to go, Jace paused for a minute, and looked back at Rose. She looked so peaceful, her hair framing her face so well, her lips curved in a soft smile, her cheeks as rosy as poppies. Jace smiled softly, and turned to go, walking back down the stairs. Once back in the potions room, Jace placed the hair in the potion, and watched as it turned golden, and emitted a soft glow. The sweet smell of lilac returned, but didn't disappear this time. Jace dropped one more star bit in the potion to make it stronger, then stored the 2 remaining pieces with the original star in his ender chest. Picking up the potion and placing it within his inventory, Jace exited the potion room, making sure to lock the door as he left. He walked upstairs once more, and walked into Rose's room. Sitting in a chair next to the bed, Jace lifted the spell that was keeping Rose asleep. Then he sat back, and waited for her to awaken.
