Chapter 10

KNIGHT'S POINT OF VIEW

Breathing heavily, Knight forces himself to calm down as he watches his last opponent run off. If he had his dagger he would use it, but Amber still has it.

Just the thought of her, made him look over towards her. She towering over the vampire trapped in front of her. She crouched down to the vampire's level saying something Knight couldn't make out. She gets up, getting ready to leave.

Wait, she's going to leave him there? She has the dagger, finish him off! One less vampire to worry about...

What's holding her back?

As fast as the thought came, she stabbed the vampire watching the vampire turn to dust. Relief washes over him as he watches the vampire disappear. There have been times where Knight has let a vampire go, they always come back.

Knight heard a twig snap behind him, and immediately turned around to see Tyler just standing there watching the scene in front of him with an amused expression on his face. A new set of anger boils inside of Knight.

Tyler turns, giving Knight a toothy grin. Not able to control it anymore, he sprints to Tyler throwing a punch his way. Tyler easily dodges the blow and throws one of his own making contact with his skin. Knight jaw is set on fire, but as quick as that sensation came, it was gone.

"How could you be amused at seeing one of your own die!?" Knight confronted, throwing another punch, but Tyler easily dodges. Tyler starts laughing as he continues dodging all of Knight's blows.

"Are you blind? You don't see what's happening right in front of you." Tyler riddled, catching him off guard. For a split second, Knight looks over at Amber wondering what Tyler meant. He didn't see anything out of the ordinary, she's just staying there.

What's wrong with that?

Seizing the moment, Tyler immediately grasps Knight's hands, pulling them behind his back, buckling his legs beneath him. Tyler bends down to match Knight's level, pushing his face into the dirt.

"You don't even know what Amber is." Tyler whispered into Knight's ear. Knight struggles to get up, but Tyler pins him harder.

First, use proper grammar, it's who, not 'what', and second, he may be right, but I do know that the enemy is the one holding me down and kidnapping me...and Amber.

"Amber!" Knight cried for help just before his face was plunged completely into the ground, his world quickly disappearing.

AMBER'S POINT OF VIEW

Amber turns to the source of the scream and immediately runs over to Tyler. Amber's running faster than any human, but twice as slow as a vampire. Amber was there within seconds.

Vampires just have to be faster....

You could match their pace in your wolf form.

Yeah, that would be comforting if I ever transformed into my wolf form. Bad things always happens when I do.

Amber throws Tyler off Knight and holds the gold dagger to Tyler's throat. "How could you!? Let your men die, and just sit there and watch?" Amber asked pressing the blade more firmly against his throat. He struggles with the dagger against his throat, but he still finds a way to grin.

"I'm not the one killing them. And technically, I was stand..." He immediately stopped the train of thought when she pressed the blade further into his throat and slapped him across his cheek. There's a red mark where she hit him, but she knows within seconds the sensation's gone.

"If they aren't strong enough to defeat a wimpy girl and her sidekick, they don't deserve my help." He quickly adds, saying it all within one breath.

"You make me sick. Out of all the years I've known you, you may be the worst, most coldblooded vampire I've ever meant." Amber said showing her disgust for him. He just slowly shakes his head as he looks back into her eyes. His bright red eyes instantly turn to blood red, hinting his annoyance.

"I guess it comes so easy to our nature seeing how we don't have any blood to begin with, so of course we are cold, but not coldblooded," He sarcastically replied rolling his eyes. Somehow he doesn't get that Amber is at the upper hand because he still finds a way to annoy her.

Is it me? Because every single person I meet, human, vampire, werewolf, whatever they are, annoy me and get on my nerves.

"But I think you're missing the bigger picture, a picture you've seen before." Tyler riddled with her. Not wanting to deal with his stupid games, she stabbed him in the shoulder. He howls in pain, but manages to stand his ground, standing tall.

"Yeah, and what's that?" Amber demanded. Bringing her dagger back on his throat. Her blood's boiling inside her and for once her werewolf side and vampire side agree about something: they both hate Tyler.

"We don't come here voluntarily." Tyler spat. Amber's pressure on the dagger completely slipped to a point where it's barely grazing his skin.

The Headmaster.

"Well, if I kill you..." Amber trailed, pressing the dagger once more against his throat, harder than ever before. If vampires had blood, it would already be dripping. "I could end this once and for all with you." Amber growled, yearning for that chance to end this. Tyler attempts to laugh, but instantly clamps his mouth shut as he does so.

"If you kill me, it won't end. We won't ever stop hunting you down." Tyler choked out. Amber notices the word "hunting" as if she's a wild dog. She kind of is.

Amber looks at his shoulder to see it's already in the processing of healing, but he will still be paralyzed for several hours.

The thought of ending it with Tyler, even if it doesn't stop the attacks, is something she still yearns for.

"Amber," Knight mumbled her name trying to get her attention, but she didn't budge. Her eyes intensely on Tyler's as she figures out what to do with him.

It's almost a no brainer.

Amber moves the dagger until the tip is right over his heart and for the first time she has known him, there's fear behind his eyes. "I'm done with you." Amber snapped as she pushes it deeper in.

"Yeah, who's saying that?" Tyler spat, making Amber more furious. It's like having two people in one body and she hates it when someone mentions it.

"It's both of us." She whispered harshly, only for him to hear.

"Aw, I brought you to together didn't I?" Tyler mocked, bringing a hand over Amber's, pulling the dagger away, but she didn't budge. This was going to be the day she was going to end it.

"Amber!" Knight roared. Amber's eyes widen. She has completely forgotten that Knight was there within seconds, and she's just hoping he didn't hear their conversation.

"What?!" She demanded, turning around to face him. His skin pale white, making him look ghostlike. Immediately she knew something was wrong.

"The human police is coming." Knight answered, emphasizing on the word "human". She brushed it off and turned back around.

Tyler was no where in sight.

"Look what you've done! I could have finished..."

"Amber, I don't think you understand if they come and see us like this," he gestured head to toe between them. "They'll know something is up and that won't end well."

Amber looks up to see they were only a few hundred feet away, running towards them. "Quick transform!" Amber exclaimed, instantly transforming to her human form.

She looks over at them to see them coming closer. "Okay, play it cool...why aren't you transforming!?" She asked her voice full of panic. She starts moving towards him, stepping in front of him.

"I can't..."

"I'll ask later. Just follow my lead." Amber quickly interjected just as the police officers came.

They stopped ten feet away from Amber and Knight. "What's wrong with that guy?" The younger policemen questioned, gesturing to Knight. Immediately Amber didn't like him, and not just because of his rude attitude. Something seems off about this young policemen.

Have I seen him before?

I think I would remember someone like him...he has no respect for anyone.

Just because he was rude once, doesn't classify him as someone who doesn't respect his peers.

You're completely blind. I see him for who he is.

Amber definitely noticed the difference between her werewolf side and vampire side when it came to her thoughts. Her vampire side was always looking on the negative side of things, never looking at the bigger picture. Also her werewolf side has a softer nature, unless vampires are involved.

"Adrian! I'm sorry he's new..."

"Obviously." Amber interrupted irritation in her voice.

"Play nice." Knight mumbled to Amber, nudging her elbow. She nudges back harder, a slight growl escapes her lips. Crossing her arms, she turns her attention on the officers.

The older officer of the two had to be twice the age of the other officer, but definitely more polite, more mature. Both their badges on the uniforms glow from the orange lamppost, the only thing that's keeping the darkness from swallowing them completely.

"So what are you guys doing here? We heard screaming around the corner." The more polite police officer responded, explaining why they're here.

Huh, that was at least five minutes ago from the last one...would they be able to hear the screams from where they were at? And if they did, they must have been close enough to be here sooner right? Like right around the corner.

Also they said they heard 'screaming' which would be referring to more than one scream, right?

This isn't adding up.

"Yeah, and why does he look like that? I mean those eyes definitely aren't natural." Adrian interrupts her thoughts. She bites her lip trying not to explode at this officer. That wouldn't end well for them.

"Haven't you ever heard of contacts?" Amber quickly asked Adrian, knowing her eyes look just the same as Knight's. Just because Amber's in her human form doesn't mean their eyes changed to a human eye color though it would have been so much easier to their disguise.

It's weird, but our eye color isn't uncommon. Some people have intense brown eyes that make it look like gold in the sunlight.

Red eyes on the other hand not so much. No wonder vampires don't even bother with their human forms.

"His teeth are like vampire fangs..."

"Completely different." Amber interrupted. Knight nudges her arm and she quickly caught herself. "If their were such creatures. In fact, their fake you could get them at any store..."

"I've never seen them at Wal-Mart before." Now it was Adrian's turn to interrupt Amber and smile sweetly. There's something behind his eyes, that resembles to mischief, but not quite.

What is he hiding?

And seriously, out of all stores, that's the one he goes with?

Amber gave the same smile before she responded "look harder."

"Oh yeah, why is his arm hair so long? They must be at least three inches standing up." Adrian questioned. He's not wrong, in mid-stage, werewolves hair is long, boys and girls.

Amber pleads with the other policemen, but let's be honest he's curious too, just doesn't want to say anything. Her eyes flash back to Adrian who has an amused look on his face, that makes Amber want to slap it right off.

"Boys have long hair." Amber responded biting her lip to keep from attacking this unpolite, new police officer. The taste of blood immediately made her release the hold she has on her lip.

Adrian quickly rolls up his sleeves. "Yeah, well mine isn't as long..."

"Are you trying to prove something?" Amber questioned, responding to his last comment and every other question he asked. That should have been the first response that she made.

Adrian's eyes flashed with anger at the fact a girl questioned him, and he has no answer too. His hand reached down towards his tazer, and Amber instantly curls her fingers into fists. She was ready.

"I believe what my friend was trying to say was it's all fake. We're practicing for a play." Knight responded, grabbing Amber's wrist. Holding her back. She tears her hand from his grip, slowly unclenching her fists.

"So you guys are in theater, and all of...that... is for your costume for your character?" The older policeman asked, Knight nod his head in agreement.

"I want it proven..."

"If we prove it to you, would you shut up!?" Amber asked Adrian, her headache that she never knew was there all a sudden was hard to bear.

"I wouldn't speak to an officer that way." Adrian responded angrily, but nods his head all the same. "I would leave you guys alone."

"Fine, we all know the hair isn't real..."

"No Amber I forbid you." Knight whispered backing away from her. She walked up to him, not in the mood to argue. She's tired of the debating. She's physically and mentally drained, tonight was a long night.

"You brought this upon yourself. Next time, transform." She whispered, snapping in frustration, but made her point across. She ripped off some of his hair instantly creating a red spot on his right arm, blood surfacing. She holds up the hair towards the officers. "It was waxed on." She answered to the quizzical faces across from her.

"We are very sorry to bother you, but we must take our leave. Thank you and sorry again about your, um, arm...the waxing job was great you could hardly tell it was fake." The older, more polite policeman, answered.

"Thank you," Knight choked out still holding on to his arm. They watch them leave.
