Chapter 2
AMBER'S POINT OF VIEW
"Tyler, what are you doing here?!" Amber demanded not in the mood to deal with him. She looks over to Tyler to see he has a new partner, since his last partner died.
Lightning fast, Tyler was right by Amber side, completely ignoring Knight. "What, I can't visit my favorite girl?" He asked, trying to act nice. Amber noticed Tyler's dislike for her since the first day they met and she knows why he's here.
"Tyler, I'm never going with you and I'm never going to turn, so just get lost." She said walking away. He always comes back trying to get her to transform into her vampire side, except he wants her to transform into her full vampire side no werewolf blood. She doesn't even know how to do that, but even if she did she would never do it, she hates vampires and definitely wouldn't want to be a full vampire.
She stops and looks over at Knight who's just listening into their conversation. He looks away once Amber makes eye contact, but he still keeps his eyes on the vampires whose just staring at them.
"Who's the new sidekick?" Tyler asked finally noticing Knight's presence. Knight was about to interjected, but Amber cut him off, glaring at Tyler.
"I can ask you the same...and let's get one thing clear he's not a new sidekick, I never had one to begin with, and he's definitely not a partner. You know me, I work alone." Amber said, wanting to storm off. If there's one thing about Tyler, it's that he talks too much and never gets down to business.
"Well, that makes things easier for me then, so I'm going to ignore you..." Tyler looked over to Knight giving him a toothy grin. His fangs are stained red from all the blood he drank, making Amber and Knight both want to vomit. "And focus on you." He walks over to Amber.
"Amber there's two options for you, you can either come with me... and let's not deny it there is a part of you that wants to come with me." He raised his eyebrows mischievously making Amber want to vomit even more. Her vampire side goes wild inside, excited about Tyler's offer.
"The second option?" She asked trying to contain her vampire side.
Tyler looks taken back at the question, but quickly covers it up with his amused grin. "I kidnap you, and force you to turn."
Now it's Amber's turn to laugh. "And how do you plan on doing that?" She asked clearly amused at the second option he offered. She looks over to Tyler's new partner who's slowly backing away. He stops when he noticed that Amber noticed. This makes Amber laugh harder.
"I have my ways, besides I'm not doing this because I want to. Call me loyal if you will, but I'm doing this to please the Headmaster." Amber's eyes immediately start glowing at the mention of Headmaster, burning the contacts she's wearing. It doesn't hurt when she burns her contacts, except when she has to buy new ones.
"Ahh, there's those beautiful eyes." Tyler commented his eyes glowing a brighter red. Amber looks over to Knight's to see he was already halfway through the transformation eyeing Tyler's partner dangerously.
Did I miss something?
"Tell the Headmaster I'm never going to turn and he could just die!" Amber threatened transforming into her mid-transformation stage. Her nails are long and sharp, which could slice through human flesh in one blow. The hairs on her arm is a couple inches longer than normal making it harder to make contact with the skin.
Tyler made the first move using his long nails to cut Amber's right cheek. She growls at him making Tyler amused and happy. Amber dodges all of Tyler's blows, but can't make any of her own. She's stuck on defense.
After ten minutes on defense, she finally found an opening and kicked Tyler away from her. She looks over at Knight to see how he's doing. Knight's doing okay, but clearly uncomfortable. Tyler's new partner is strong and powerful. Tyler's partner is on defense, but every so often he would land a blow.
She was about to help Knight when Tyler digs his nails into Amber's right shoulder. Whimpering, she backs away from Tyler.
Stay focused, ignore the blood. Ignore the pain.
Amber looks over to Tyler whose just waiting for her to get back up. She gets up and tries to strike back, but lost her balance and fell. Tyler laughs haunts her, playing over and over in her head, but she can't get up, the pain's too much.
Tyler grabs her by the hair and forces her to look up at him. "Looks like it's option two." He said, the grip on her hair more firmer, determined to not let her go.
"HEY, don't you dare hurt her, don't even touch her or you'll have me to answer to." Knight threatened, holding the pure gold dagger in his hands. Amber looks over at Knight, the first thing she noticed was Tyler's new partner was gone.
He did it!
He has scratches and deep wounds all over his body, but it's slowly healing. His eyes are glowing a darker gold, so dark that it looks more pale gold than his normal bright gold.
Amber looks back down on the floor her head hurting from looking up. If Knight hits the right spot, they wouldn't have to worry about Tyler anymore.
"Like I'm scared of a sem..." Knight cuts him off, throwing the dagger. Tyler's screams filled the night as he takes out the dagger that was drilled into his left shoulder.
He starts gasping as he slowly lost feeling in his left shoulder. "I'll be back for you two!" He shouts throwing the dagger towards Amber. It hits her in the exact same spot he drilled his nails in. She howls in pain, tears streaming down her face as she loses feeling in her right shoulder.
Great, so because I'm part vampire I can die by pure gold.
Anyone can, it just affects vampires more.
"Amber are you..."
"I'm fiinne, whherre's Ty..." Amber stops talking hoping Knight can understand what she's saying.
"He's gone...I don't understand, why did the dagger affect you so much?" He asked no one in particular, but Amber still got mad.
Unbelievable, he's unbelievable!
"It doesn't matter if we're not affected the same way vampires are, pure gold weapons can still kill us, it can kill anybody." Amber responds, happy that the numbness is wearing off, but still mad at Knight's stupid question.
"Well when you say it like that, my question sounds kind of stupid..."
"It is stupid." Amber said trying to wrap her head around the situation at hand.
My shoulder's in pain, Tyler escaped, Knight is asking stupid questions, this is not my night.
"Come on, let's go." Knight says wanting to change the subject. He helps Amber up to her feet.
"Go where?" Amber asked trying to stand on her own, but fails miserably. Knight caught her before she fell, but Amber still struggled to get out of his grip. She stands slouching, but stands on her own.
Okay, all I need to do is not move.
Either way you fall. You move, you fall. You don't move, you still fall. Face it, you need Knight's help.
I don't need anyone's help, I got this.
Sure you do.
"Amber you need help, let me help you..."
"I don't need your help..."
"You're hurt Amber, let me help you..."
"I said 'I don't need your help!'" Amber shouts leaving no room for Knight to argue. She made up her mind.
"Fine, you leave me no choice." Knight walks away finally satisfying Amber, but some part of her was surprised he left her.
Seconds later he runs back, carefully lifts Amber up, and throws her over his shoulder. At first, he was afraid that lifting her up will hurt her, but now he's the one getting hurt.
"LET GO OF ME!" Amber demanded shouting as loud as she could. Knight shakes his head, refusing to let her go. She starts pounding her fists on his back, but he doesn't budge no matter how much it hurts.
"Hey stop massaging my back will yah? You're hurt, and I'm not leaving you here to freeze to death. I'm taking you back to my house, have you heal back there..."
"It's not even that cold to freeze to death." She said defiantly.
It's summer!
After a while, he didn't let her go. "I can leave once I'm healed right?" Amber asks defeated. She stops "massaging his back" and starts closing her eyes, listening to the sounds of the night. The birds and crickets are chirping, and the wind is howling.
"Yes, once you're completely healed, you're leaving." Knight said quickly making up his mind.
KNIGHT'S POINT OF VIEW
I don't know how I feel about Amber saying we're not partners, I feel thrilled yet something else, is it sad?
No!
He still has ten minutes to walk over to his car. The way he was carrying Amber was starting to bother him, but he doesn't want to adjust it just incase it hurts her shoulder. At this point Amber stopped pounding on his back or even talking so he figured she was asleep.
He looks at the ground feeling tired himself. He's still alert in a way where if he hears anyone approach him, he'll be there. The dagger's still in her shoulder because Knight didn't want to make it worse by taking it out.
Should I just take it out? I would have a weapon if anyone attacks.
No, you don't know if the wound is really bad and more blood would be lost.
But she can't exactly heal with it in there, and she wants to leave as soon as possible...
I'm with her on that, I want her to leave too!
You may need her...
Please, I can handle myself.
Just be patient and don't pull out the dagger. Now, stop being so stubborn.
Fine. At least she's not a vampire or that would hurt a lot more...
But it affected her different from how I expected, I just don't know how to explain it...
There's no explaining, she's right! It would hurt anyone.
He always wonders if it's "normal" to argue with himself, he never use to do it until he turned into a werewolf.
"I just look at it both ways." Knight said out loud to no one in particular.
"What...'both ways'?" Amber asks confused, scaring the daylights out of Knight. Amber notices his body tenses making her laugh.
"You scared me! I thought you were asleep." Knight said trying to catch his breath.
"It may come to a shock for you, but it's very hard to fall asleep when someone's carrying you over their shoulder..."
"I didn't want to hurt your shoulder besides it needs to heal..."
"It's already healed...mostly." Amber responds shocking Knight. He keeps walking to his car, but he couldn't hold in his question any longer.
"How is it almost healed, the dagger..."
"I took out the dagger." Amber said making Knight stop in his tracks, set Amber down, and look for his dagger which is no longer in her shoulder.
"Where's the dagger?!" He asked Amber trying to remain calm.
She's probably just hiding it from me, she still has it.
"I dropped it." The blood literally drained from Knight's face. Amber sits there acting innocent in all this, making Knight more mad.
"That was a weapon to kill vampires! It's hard to get a hold of a weapon like that. How could you drop it so carelessly?" Knight asked back tracking, leaving her there. Amber runs to Knight's side catching up with him.
"I didn't drop it so carelessly. I took it out of my shoulder because it hurts just being in there. I tried holding on to it, but you were walking on every rock you could find! The ride was bumpy and I dropped it, so technically it was your fault..."
"You could have just told me, we could've stopped to get it." Knight said annoyed, but grateful he could actually see in the dark thanks to his werewolf side.
Seriously, it's like I'm shining a flashlight wherever I go, so awesome.
Yeah, that's the only thing that's awesome. Vampires trying to kill you? I had better days every single day when I was human and I had pretty bad days my human years.
"I'm sorry...here let me help you look." Amber runs back to her bench. Knight was shocked that she left him, and thought she was planning on relaxing.
"I thought you're going to help me!" He shouted irritated and annoyed. She's the whole reason why he's in this mess.
I rather be home sleeping, but nooooo, I have to find a weapon Amber dropped, she should be helping! Man she's so selfish.
"I'm back tracking, I'll start on this side and make my way towards you!" She shouts back, looking on the ground for the dagger. Knight stood there for a moment stunned. He immediately felt guilty for thinking she was "selfish" and assuming she would leave him.
After twenty minutes of looking, Amber finally caught up with Knight and it's midnight. Knight found himself sleeping, but wakes up seconds later after he notices. He looks over at Amber who doesn't have a dagger in her hand.
"I don't know where it could have gone." Knight says disappointed that he and Amber didn't find it.
"Yeah, I'm sorry I..." Amber stops midsentence looking over at Knight, but he was so tired he wasn't paying attention and didn't see the smile on Amber's face.
"I'm sorry I didn't give it to you sooner." Amber said handing over the dagger. Knight snaps back to reality, happily taking the dagger.
"When did you find it? I didn't see it in your..."
"Hand? I put it in my back pocket, the handle in my pocket of course. It was kind of uncomfortable, but I wanted to leave the suspense there." She said mischievously raising her eyebrows, making Knight laugh.
"Man, you're pure evil." Knight said clearly amused.
"Wait, so now that I gave you back your dagger, that classifies me as evil?" Amber laughs clearly amused at Knight's choice of words. Knight laughs louder making Amber do the same.
"No, just you holding onto the dagger." Knight said.
"Ah, gotcha." Amber said still amused, but a lot more tired than before.
"Well, do you still want to head over to my house? It may be more comfortable than the park's bench." Knight asked noticing that her shoulder has completely healed already. At first he would invite her only if she still needs healing, but now that she's healed, he's uncomfortable leaving her here alone after what happened.
"That's okay, I'm completely healed anyway..."
"Yeah, but I wouldn't mind." He quickly interrupts her, hoping she agrees to it.
"Thanks, but I'm sticking to my bench. See yah tomorrow." She calls over her shoulder already walking back to her bench.
"See you tomorrow." He replies walking back to his car feeling a little tired.
Halfway through he face plants into the ground immediately waking up. "Ow!" He shouts, up and alert. He's the worst sleepwalker on the planet always bumping into something, but he doesn't get much sleep either.
He runs back to his car wanting to be in his car already. He finally got in, feeling relieved that he's actually in the car.
He turns the car on looking at the clock that showed 1:00 A.M. Feeling even more tired, he reverses out of the stall and drives home, hoping he can stay awake.
Please have there be no more surprises today, I'm done.
