Chapter 8

One Week Later

AMBER'S POINT OF VIEW

This past week flew right by for Amber. She stayed at her bench reading her favorite book "Expiration Date and The Power by Isabella Reed". She rarely has time to do so.

Oh it's amazing!!! My all time favorite book!

So it's about living in a world where everyone has a date on their arms telling them when they will die: their expiration date. The Ministry, Enchanville's government system, completely have control over the citizens lives.

The Ministry even gives the citizens powers so they'll stay on their side, and stay in Enchanville...

I would give myself all the powers I want.

The character Isa used to live in a foster home with really bad circumstances...even worse than me living in the park, though I don't mind it either.

Well, for the most part.

The day came where she gets her powers, but she never predicted what would happen next in her life, the adventures and dangers she'll be facing, the mysteries yet those thrilling moments of the unknown.

Oh I just love it, I feel like I could really connect with Isa. We both don't have a place to call 'home'. We're both in constant danger, yet facing it head on. We're both...special, unique, too different for our own good.

If she was real we would be the bestest friends, no doubt about it.

Oh, how I would love to have a friend to rely on, instead I have to stay away from everyone...but no one likes me, they make it too easy by never coming near me in the first place. They judge me before they even get to know me...So I play tough, to protect myself.

But everyone needs someone to rely on.

No one wants to be alone.

Amber looks up from her book and placed her bookmark in it. She looks at the empty fields in front of her. Beautiful and quiet, but a little too quiet. "Where are the cars? Where are the humans?" She questioned looking around, no one in sight. "Where are the vampires?" Her voice slightly rising. Completely bewildered, she turned around, no one was in sight.

At least once every week vampires would try to kidnap her. This is the first week in years that they never attacked her.

"Ugh, I knew I was enjoying myself too well. Their probably watching me waiting for a moment to attack...well I'm ready! Come at me, stop being a chicken!" Her voice rising with frustration. She looks up at the sky expecting vampires to fly in any moment, but none came.

She puts her book in her backpack and gets up from her bench. She looks at the field one more time before heading into the forest.

Their probably hiding in there.
.....
Blindly walking for six hours, she finally reached the end of the forest, her foot stepping on the pavement. There's thousands of miles more in the opposite direction, but she's grateful to finally be out.

"Maybe their out in the open..." She stopped midsentence as she watches cars drive by, not even giving her a first glance.

Why are you looking for trouble?! You're a werewolf, not invincible.

I don't even know what I am thanks to you. I wish we were two separate beings!

You and me both, but you still never answered my question.

For years, they were always their ruining the moment. They were so predictable as to when they would come after me that I knew...

Ah, but now that you don't know, you're scared...

Not scared, but I don't like the unknown either.

Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but you won't find them. Vampires would be found, when they want to be found.

Their here somewhere and I'm going to find them, with or without you.

Without.

Ignoring that last thought, she treks up the paved road, walking against traffic.

After a few minutes, she looks up at the green street sign. "Lovedove street, isn't that interesting." Amber mused.

Rumor has it that Lovedove street is the most populated for married couples in the houses, but each one of them eventually gets a divorce. Some know the rumor, some don't. Those who live in those houses obviously do not. And that's a lot of people.

The rumor ended a year after it started. The government officials stopped the word from spreading...somehow. Their business on those house was really going downhill, and they couldn't take it much longer. There was a time when no one lived in those houses and that really got the government officials furious.

The rumor is still true today.

......
She continued strolling around the streets looking at the cars, the birds flying above her, and the places she passed by. She past by most of the fast food drive thru such as McRonald's and Jack in the Hat.

The two places has the most fried, fattest foods in all of Faire!

Yeah, but it's cheap.

Looking at the places made Amber's stomach growl, but she ignored it, knowing she only had enough money to have a dollar sandwich a day for the next two weeks. She doesn't know what she would do after the two weeks, but she doesn't want to think about it either.

As brutal as this is, she has gotten use to it by now. Her stomach needs more getting use to.

"Okay, maybe their not out..."

Or maybe I was right about vampires, they will be found only when they want to be found.

I guess you are the vampire expert, aren't you...

Joke all you want, I don't expect a werewolf to understand.

You're right, I don't.

"I mind as well head back to my bench." She said, looking down at her new beat up watch, she found yesterday. The band is completely in half, but luckily Amber found strong enough tape to wrap around the split. And as long as the time was right, that's all that matters.

"5:30 p.m. not bad, but the sun's would be setting soon." She mused as she thinks about all the forest creatures coming out when the sun sets and she does not want to be caught in the middle of it.

KNIGHT'S POINT OF VIEW

This week was the slowest week Knight has ever experienced. Ever since his last encounter with a vampire, he refused to leave the house. It's going to get harder when the full moon comes out in two weeks, he needs to go out then, but he's going to stay in as long as he can.

You don't have to go out on Full Moon...

Yes I do. If I knew how to control my transformations maybe I don't have too, but the fact is, I don't.

Well one thing is for sure, I prefer to transform then stay in this house...but I can't.

Stupid, being on vampires radar...stupid, knowing the world's most famous werewolf...stupid, having to be so nice. Well next time I'll let your cat stay up there!

There was no cat...

That's my whole point, I should have left when I had the chance, then the whole situation could have been avoided.

Or she would have still followed me, but still.

Yeah, but punishing yourself isn't the way to go...go outside.

Funny, the last time I did that, I almost died!

You didn't almost die...

Probably would have without my dagger.

But you have your dagger. Go outside you need fresh air. This house is starting to smell like you...

Isn't it suppose to be? It's my house.

That wasn't a compliment. Before you head out, shower or at least put on your manly musk.

I don't smell that bad...

Sniff your armpit, and you'll know.

"Okay, fine. I'll put on deodorant." Knight said defeated, not going anywhere near his armpits. All he did was sleep, eat, and occasionally watch T.V. That's it. Didn't get off the couch unless he was eating. He repeated that cycle for days, he probably smells like a zoo, but yet again, it's only him and if he could handle the stench then that's all that matters.

All he could think about was his last encounter with the vampire. Replaying it over and over in his head. What he had done wrong, what he could have done better, how he could have prevented the situation all together, and all he has came up with is staying home.

Never leaving.

He puts on a clean shirt and his deodorant and walks out the door. He probably should stay inside, but he can't last one minute in there. He just needs a ten minute walk to anywhere. He doesn't even care if it's the unknown. As long as he's out.

"What was I thinking? I couldn't stay there for one more minute, let alone two weeks. Impossible." He amused himself, looking back at the situation and wanting to laugh. He has gone mad staying in that house.

"Just stay alert," he warned himself, looking at his surroundings. Other then cars passing by, no harm seems to be present.

Let's keep it that way.

He walks past the fast food restaurants and kept climbing the hill. The sidewalk is just as trashed as the road with cracks and potholes every ten feet at least. No one drives here unless they have too, but luckily Knight found another road that can get him to these places without hitting potholes every two seconds.

The other road Knight takes is the famous Lovedove street. He doesn't know what it is, but he likes the street. The houses our the most beautiful, and the road is the cleanest, as in no potholes or cracks. Not that many people drive it.

I wouldn't mind living in there.

Knight continues on hiking up the road for another half an hour completely lost, but in no hurry. The sun's getting ready to go down, but still high enough that if you look it hurts your eyes. Knight loves sunsets and sunrises because it's the only time you could look at the sun and not be completely blinded.

"I should probably back track," Knight slowed in speech, not wanting those words to leave his mouth. "No, let's keep going, the sun's going to set any minute, let's try to find a place to watch it." Knight looks up to see the sun lower than where it was before in just a few minutes, and instantly starts running down the hill.  It's going to be a pain walking back up, but he really wants to find a good open spot.

He follows the twisty road, turning left, then right, then left again. The further the road goes the more narrow it becomes, to a point where it's a one lane road for two cars going the opposite direction.

Luckily for Knight the road is clear, and he doesn't have to worry about cars. He climbs up the road and goes off to the side. "This is perfect." He said, his breath literally taken away at the scenery in front of him.

Knight runs over to the side of the endless road and starts climbing up a twenty foot tree until he's at the very top. The sunset is beautiful from where he's at. Right below him is a small field full of bright green grass full of life and color. Little yellow flowers scattered every inch of the field. The mountains right in front of him, nothing blocking his view of the sunset.

Why are there no cars? I would gladly come over here to see the view...

I wonder where the road leads. There's no buildings anywhere in sight.

Don't ruin the moment.

"I gotta come over here more often." Knight ecstatically acknowledged, looking over at the orange sun. The sun's setting behind those green mountains, the perfect place in Knight's opinion. Being in this tree, looking at this field, he feels safe.

A few minutes later the sun's completely behind the mountains, but he doesn't exactly want to leave just yet. The sun rays is still out lighting the dark blue sky.

"And I forgot my flashlight." Knight mumbled as he puts his hands in his pockets feeling for it, but never finding it. He was thinking about turning on his flashlight when it got darker, but now he doesn't have that option. "The streetlights should be enough, I just want to stay here a couple more minutes."

He lets his feet dangle beneath him and placed his hands in his lap, slightly leaning forward to see the ground beneath him. Nothing's, no plants, are dead, despite it being summer.

Suddenly and unexpectedly, a hand covered Knight's mouth, dragging him to a standing position. Within seconds he was up in the air.
