     "I'd risk it all
then to never have your love at all."

      - The Vamps, I'd Risk It All

That was it. I swam up to his lips and forgot about everything else in the world. Even though it was getting hard to breathe since I wasn't born a magical mermaid, sadly at least. But we kicked our way up the fresh air, heavy breathes leaving our lips as we pulled away.

"Wow." Lucas looked up to my eyes, a smile slowly appearing on his lips.

"Yeah." I said, trying to catch my breath. "Wow."

Silence over took us, besides the waterfall splashing down upon us in the background. We practically stared at each other for the longest time and it was the best thing ever. His warm breath hit my neck, making me feel something strange.

I mean it wasn't my first time being this close to a boy before, but when it came to Lucas, everything felt like a first. First kiss, first word, first love. This boy was changing me and I didn't know if it was for the better or not, but I pray that it is for the better.

    "Lucas?"

    "Yeah?"

"We should figure out how to get out of here." I said looking up at the tall walls baracadding us.

Luke nodded, "But we also could stay the night."

"You want me to get brutally murdered?" I asked, bugging my eyes out at him.

He chuckled, "Maybe it would be best for you."

I glared at him, slapping him on his shoulder. "C'mon!" I muttered, letting go of his neck. A groan left an echo as Lucas began to swim along with me. But as we made it to land, with rocks that are sharp enough to kill a vampire, I found my outfit drenched, along with myself. Throwing my hair up into the best tight bun I could, I watched as Lucas began to climb the rocks.

"You're kidding me right?" I stared as he climbed his way up.

"Don't be such a wuss, Anne." he snickered, beginning to climb up the rocks again. I glared an evil stare at him and shook my head before beginning to climb up the rocks myself.

"Anna." I whispered, correcting him under my breath.

After ten minutes and we when we were safely on the level of ground we needed to be on, we ignored each other. He became distant from me in the matter of thirty seconds and I couldn't understand why. But instead of asking and have him blow up on me, I mocked his motions.

And when we got into the car, it was the most awkwardest tension I've ever had to sit in. I literally wanted to jump out of the car halfway to my place, but knowing what I actually did today, especially with Lucas, I didn't wanna take anything for granted.

"Are you going to walk home?" I asked, looking away from the road towards him. He stared out the window and shook his head, not speaking a word. I squinted my eyes at him, questioning myself. "Did I do something wrong?" I questioned only receiving a head shake again.

"Luke." I said sternly his head facing me. His eyes connected with mine, but quickly left as I looked back into his. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Nothing." he muttered against the window. "Take a left up here." he said as we passed my house. I took the left and a few other turns before he told me to stop. As he reached for the door handle, I locked the car door.

"Are you sure I didn't do anything wrong?" I asked again, confused on everything that was going on.

Lucas flicked up the lock and turned back to me, "I'll see you." he side smiled, you know the smiles where you can tell nothing is right with that person but they consist that they're fine, yeah that kinda of smile.

"Luca--" the car door slammed and he walked off. I placed my forehead on the steering wheel knowing that I had screwed up.

He didn't want a relationship, "Silly me."

I lifted my head up and tapped my fingers on the steering wheel. The leather squeaked under my fingers and the radio played along in a very low hum.

"Screw it." I sung, swinging the keys out of the ignition. I stomped my way to the front of his house and inside. It was dark, the only light shining through was the damn moon light. I walked my way through the hallways and multiple doors until I walked upstairs and into the last room. He sat there by the window, staring up into the night. "Can you please tell me what the hell is up with you?"

"Nothing." he semi shouted, or growled with the way he muttered it and twisted his tongue.

"No, there is something wrong with you and if it's because of me just say it."

"There's nothing wrong!" he shouted snapping his head towards me this time.

"Obviously something is and you don't wanna tell me because -- because -- - well I don't know why because you won't tell me." I shouted back, anger bubbling up inside of me. And even if I didn't want to admit it, regret as well.

"I don't want you getting hurt. Okay?"

"Why the hell would I get hurt? I've been perfectly fine before!"

    "Without me."

    "And with you."

"Listen, all I do is seem to hurt people. My mom's gone, my dad's gone, I don't even fucking know if my grandparents are still alive or not. I just don't want you to leave too." he began to choke up, you could hear it in his voice.

"Lucas, I don't need you to baby me. You're not my father, mother, or anyone else who can control me so stop saying what I can and can't do."

    "I'm looking out for you."

"You say that all the time!" I screamed, tears beginning to scratch at the back of my throat. "Is that the only excuse you have for me."

"No, but it's the damn truth."

"Then tell me something, Luke. Don't tell me you're looking out for me or protecting me. Tell me everything's going to be okay, that everything is perfect."

"But that would be lying because on Earth there is nothing but bad people and bad stuff and I can't see you deal with one of them."

"Luke, you're not a bad person at all."

"I do nothing but bad, Anna. How can I not be hurtful?"

"Trust me Lucas, there's some people out there worse than you."

"How come then every time I look into this mirror, it tells me otherwise?"

"Because you're too weak to be strong for yourself and before you can love another, you have to learn to love yourself."

"God, I knew you wouldn't understand."

"What do you mean I don't understand! You have no idea, no idea."

"I have an idea about something though."

"And what would that be Lucas?"

"I'm falling for you day by day, Anna, and I still haven't figured out if you're a mistake or not."
