When It All Falls Down

Rob up there

Rob POV

  "Rob you're walking too fast slow down a bit." Alexis said as she laughed. Look this was my very first wedding so my ass ain't know what to do. Let me be great OK?  "Ight so you stand right here next to him and then when he says 'who has the rings?', that's when you pull out the rings." she said as I nodded my head. We've been practicing for about two hours now and aside from my hype ass walking so fast, I think I got the gist of things. We went through everything from where I'll be getting dressed at, arrival time, etc.. Hell I even got some samples of the menu so you KNOW my ass wasn't complaining. "Ight we'll take a break for min before we get in two more practices and be done for the day." she said as I walked over to a nearby table and sat my ass down. 

  I pulled out my phone and started to play games. Of course I was texting Troy as usual but it was just small talk. He's really a chill guy. "Ight let's go. Two more times and then we're done for today. The next rehearsal's wont be as ling but pretty much everyone will be there so you'll get to meet the fam again. They've been asking you." she said as I laughed. I love her family, they're hilarious even though she thinks they're embarrassing. "Ight bet. Let's go." I said as I put my phone away and stood up. "Sorry I'm late. i was stuck in traffic." a voice said as I turned my head in the direction of the door. OH FUCK NO! I literally dragged Alexis ass to a more private area. "What the hell is he doing here?" I whisper yelled at her. 

  "Well, he's gonna be the your partner so I figure it would be best that you two practiced together. What's really going on with you two? Is there something you left out last weekend?" she said with her eyebrow raised. "Everything I told you was the honest to God truth. You'd have to ask him what his issue is. As far as I'm concerned, I don't see what I did for him to be acting like that." I said as I shrugged my shoulders. "Well let's just get this practice over with. I don't want fights breaking out on my wedding day or you both will be looking casket sharp. Got it?" she said with a smile. I'm dead ass convinced this girl is crazy. I just nodded y head as we walked back to where he was. "You was supposed to be here an hour ago." she said as she glared at him. "My bad Lex, I got caught up with something." he said as he scratched the back of his neck. "Plus traffic was mad crazy." he added. 

  "Well imma let it slide for now.Next time it's you ass." she said. "I got ya Lex, won't happen again." he said with his hands up. "Hey Derrick." "So where, do I stand?" he said straight ignoring me. Uh, OK I guess. I guess Lex caught that because her facial expression tells me everything I needed to know. "Uh, we can start from the top. Come on Rob." she said as she grabbed my hand and walked me to my spot. "Keep calm baby boy. For me please?" she said as I nodded my head. "OK so Derrick you'll be coming from the opposite side. Then you two will link up in the middle and walk together." she said as I nodded my head. "I got it. Want to run it from the top and do a test run?" I asked her. She signaled for the DJ to start the music as we both went to our areas. 'Ight not to fast Rob, your not running a marathon.' I said as I mentally coached myself down the walkway. 

  When I met up with Derrick. I waited for him to put his arm out so I could loop mine with his. Once he did that, I gave him a weak smile as we began to walk. So far so good. As soon as we made it half way, he let his arm drop and continued to walk. Attitude increasing, I gotta remember who I'm doing this for. I continued to walk beside him as we took our spots on the groom's side.  My leg must've gave out midway because I felt myself fall. I tried to grab on to him as he moved out of the way, not breaking my fall. "You OK?" Alexis asked as I nodded my head. "Yeah I'm good. Guess my legs was warning me." I said laughing. "Ight one last time and then we're done." she said as I smiled. We waked back to our spots as we started again. 

  This time, Derrick didn't put his arm out at all. This shit is getting annoying but I guess. It looked awkward as hell with the both of us just walking there but it was his choice. Once we got to the groom's side, this nigga bumped me for no apparent reason. Alexis, I'm sorry. "Yo what the fuck is your problem?!" I yelled as I stood dead in his face. "I don't know what you're talking about. Matter of fact, who are you?" he said with a confused expression on his face. "Whoa there. Derrick what is your problem? You've been treating Rob like shit every since you got here. You foul as fuck for that last comment too." Alexis said as she walked over to me. "You know what Lex, imma just go home. I'll practice while I'm in the house. I have to go before I seriously sock the shit outta this weird as nigga." I said as walked away. 

  "You ain't gonna do shit." I heard him say as I turned around. "You really want to test that theory? Wassup then?" I said as I took my phone out of my pocket and set it on a nearby table. "ROB?! NO! Go home!" Alexis yelled as I turned around. "Stupid ass nigga." I said loud enough so he can hear me. To say I'm pissed right now is an understatement. Like this nigga has been acting mad weird for reasons I can't even put my finger. I thought we talked out our issues that night but it seems like it was all an act, at least on his part. Fuck that weak ass nigga. As soon as I touched down in the house, I went to take a nice warm bath and just relaxed. I got a call from Alexis as I was just sitting there. We talked about what happened earlier as it literally confused the both of us. I gave up on trying to figure out his issue and changed the subject to the wedding. 

  She was so happy to talk about it, which made me smile. She said how I would love the venue and hell I might even find a man out there. If she don't get out of my face trying to play matchmaker. "Ight imma let you wash your ass. I didn't want to be the one to tell you that you was smelling a little foul today." she said as I hollered. "NOW we both know that's a fucking lie. Get off my phone trying to assassinate my character." I said as we laughed before saying our goodbyes. I drained the water out of the tub before jumping into the shower. Once i finished that, I cleaned the both of them before changing into pajamas and heading to bed. 

The Next Day           

  I decided that I was going just take a walk to the park as the weather looked beautiful today. I went to do my normal hygienic duties before rummaging through my clothes for an out fit. "I think this shirt will do" I said as I put it on the bed. Now do I want to wear jeans or shorts? That is the question. I went to the weather app to see that it was a nice 80 degrees. "Jeans it is then." I said since the weather is known for dropping. Plus I hate feeling cold. I grabbed a pair of pants as I heard something fall on the floor. "What was that?" I said a I looked around on the floor. I picked up a nice little ring. It had a bunch of scratches on it but it was still beautiful nonetheless. "Somebody had taste" I said as I rubbed the ring. Shortly after I did that, it was like a bunch of memories started flooding in. "I love you too baby." "Derrick move. so annoying." "Yes it's yours. You knew that." "Slam my fucking door again Derrick!" "Thank. You. For. The. Roses" "  "This isn't the ring just yet, More a promise ring. Promise me that in two months, you'll still be mine and that you'll actually say yes. Promise me that you'll allow me to continue to shower you in nothing but love and affection. Can you do that for me?" 

  Derrick! 

  "Oh my God! My engagement ring!" I said as I started to cry. I quickly put on my clothes. I have to see him. It felt like I had something in my pocket so I reached into my pocked and pulled out my cracked up phone. I pressed the power button to see that surprisingly it had a little bit of battery left on it. The screened showed a little video of me and Derrick hugging before we kissed. More tears streamed down my face. I have to see him. I grabbed my keys as I made my way to his house. Luckily, I remembered that as well. So that's where my stiff was. My brother must've did that by accident while he was maintaining the house in my absence. I got nervous as hell as I made my way over there. When I pulled up to his house, I noticed another car in the drive way. Weird, he only has one car. I withheld my thoughts as I got out the car and walked toward his house. 

   As I was about to knock on the door. A woman was coming out. "I'm sorry excuse me." she said as I stepped to the side. Color me confused. "Babe you forgot you phone." Derrick said as he chased behind her. "Wow." was all I could say. I watched as he kissed her, then walked past me and tried to close the door in my face. I said tried because I put my foot in the damn thing and pushed it back open, letting myself in. "Now I know damn well you saw me standing there." I said as I closed the door. "Rob what do you want man?" he said slightly irritated. "So you got a girlfriend now huh?" I said with my eyebrow raised. "That's none of your business." "IT IS MY BUSINESS WHEN IT INVOLVES MY FUCKING FIANCE!" I yelled as my voice bounced off the walls. The look on his face right now, priceless. "So Derrick tell me. How long have you two been dating?" I asked him. He just stood there looking stupid. "You gonna tell me or do I need to cal Malik? That's your best friend there's no doubt in my mind that he wouldn't know anything". I said as I stood there.

  "Two months." he said lowly. My heart dropped but that feeling was overruled by pure anger. "So you mean to tell me roughly after I kissed you, you started talking to her? Oh yeah I remember that too." I said. "You wouldn't understand." "Then make me understand!" I said getting even more mad. "You all but forgot about me plus you was waving that bum ass nigga in my face like he was your pride in joy. What the fuck was I supposed to do?" " So, because I had amnesia, that was an excuse for you to do you? You was supposed to make me remember dumb ass! All those pictures you have in your phone, you mean to tell me you couldn't show me one. Fun fact, me and Troy didn't even do shit but talk. The first time I tried to kiss him, he backed away. Second time he just stood there. You want to know whats even more funny? When I did kiss him, I felt nothing. Nothing at all. Can't say the same for when I kissed you. It felt right. It felt like that was meant to happen, like it was something BOTH of us needed. I wanted to look into that more."

  "Who knows, maybe that would've helped me remember." I said as I looked at him. "Rob..." he said as his eyes started to water. "You know what's even more hurtful about this whole thing Derrick? You did the one thing we both promise/swore we'd never do, you gave up" (A/N: I dead ass felt that line). "That's not fair! I waited for you! I spent 4 months doing nothing but being by your side." He argued back. "But when I woke up, what happened?" "I was still there!" he yelled. "Until I mentioned Troy. The moment I mentioned him, your whole outlook on me changed and you started distancing yourself. The only question I have is what exactly were you going to say when you introduced me to ole girl?" I asked him. He just looked at the floor. "Thought so. Oh and one more question, did y'all fuck?" I straight up said it. "I have needs Rob-" "That's all I needed to hear." I said as I pulled the ring out of my pocket. 

  "You know the first thing I saw when my memory came back was this?" I said showing him the lock screen before the phone died completely. "Thank you for everything Derrick. From the bottom of my heart." I said as I placed the ring in his hand. "Rob, you can't leave. Please. We can fix this." he said as he was full on sobbing. "It's too late Derrick, you already did." I said leaving as the tears as the tears rolled down my face. I started to the car up only to hear Jhene Aiko's Spotless Mind playing. "Shame on me for changing....." she sung as smiled in the sunlight as even more tears came rolling down. I quickly wiped them away as I drove off. 

  Away from the one place and person that made me feel safe.      

This chapter low key made me cry.
