Chapter 3
I hung, limp and dying. My face was turning pale. The man grinned and squeezed my neck tighter. I closed my eyes. This was the end. There was a loud bang and my eyes snapped open. The man stared at me with lifeless eyes, a shocked expression stuck on his face. He let go of me and fell to the ground to reveal Haru, holding out a shaking gun. He had shot him.
"I-I'm sorry..." Was all he could say. He fell to his knees and hid his face in his hands. I placed my hand on his shoulder and looked at him.
"Thank you." I said.
We stared at the man for a good five minutes before I realised we had to go.
"We've gotta get outta here." I said making my way to the door. Haru didn't move "NOW!" I screamed. Frustrated, I grabbed his arm and pulled him along the hall. He snapped back into reality and we ran.
"They're over there!" I heard a man yell. They were after us. I kept running, turning this way and that. Suddenly we came to a dead end. We were trapped.
"We gotta fight them." Haru said, his teeth clenched. I nodded and got into a fighting position. 'This is it' I thought to myself. Around seven guards came rushing around the corner. I held my ground and prepared for impact. There was silence for a moment, but then I ran. I charged at them like an angry bull. I stuck out my foot and hit one squarely in the chest, then grabbed his weapons.
I threw Haru a sword and kept one for myself.
"Akito! look out!" I turned around and only just blocked a sword. It was game time. I threw his sword across the room and gently cut through his skin leaving a small scab to take its place. he ran away, taking the other guards with him.
"W-where did you learn that?" He asked in amazement.
"I've handled a few swords in my time, I always had one on me, even at night."
"All the time?!" He stared at me with disbelief
"Hey, there are some things you just can't live without." He smiled an nodded before we took off and out of the prison. We were free.
