Chapter 35

Tiana's POV: November 15 (Tuesday)

I calmly walked into my science class and sat down at my usual spot with Lottie.

She wasn't the best science partner, but she was still my friend. My momma taught me to be nice to everyone I meet. Or at least try.

I looked up as the teacher called for our
attention. "Excuse me students, we have a new student among us today."

A tan guy with dark hair and amber eyes walked in.

"Why don't you introduce yourself?" Mr. Pumbaa suggested.

The boy nodded, "I am Prince Naveen of Maldonia." I heard a few girls swoon as they heard his deep accent.

"A prince?" I heard some girls gasp and I rolled my eyes.

It wasn't exactly a big deal. A lot of people at Disney High had Royal blood. It wasn't exactly rare.

"Would you like someone to assist you this week around school?" All the girls grinned at the teacher's 'oh so fabulous' suggestion.

"Assisting would be nice, yes?" Naveen smirked.

"Okay then," Mr. Pumbaa boomed. "Have your pick of the students." I rolled my eyes and started on the warmup.

I barely heard Naveen say, "This one," before I looked up to see everyone's eyes on me.

"Me?" Naveen nodded, smiling. "Oh no, no, no. I couldn't possibly."

"I'm sorry Miss Tiana, you have to," Mr. Pumbaa told me. I sighed and nodded and everyone went back to their warmups.

Well, almost everyone. I was getting a few glares from girls around the room.

"Hello," Naveen sat next to me. "I am Naveen." I glanced at him, "I heard."

"And you are Tiana, yes?" I nodded at him but continued to work. "So, what do I do?" I pointed to the board without looking up and he made a small 'oh'.

"So Tiana, do you have a pencil I could borrow?"

I gave him a look. "It's the first day of school, and you don't have a pencil?" He shook his head, "Uh, no, I don't."

I sighed. "Well, unfortunately for you, I don't have an extra."

I watched him out of the corner of my eye as he turned around and asked some girls for a pencil. He returned with at least a dozen, sharp and ready to go.

He finally started on the warmup but seemed confused. "Uh, Tiana," he tapped my shoulder.

"What?" I snapped. He looked at me shocked. "I was just going to ask what a hypothesis is," he whispered reluctantly.

I almost banged my head on the desk. "You don't know?"

He shook his head. "I wasn't taught much science." I felt a little bad for him, so I helped him and he seemed at least slightly grateful.

The rest of the class went by and Naveen didn't answer one question. He sat back with his hands behind his head, just like the prince he was.

Meanwhile, I tried my best to answer every question I could. I have to work hard and get good grades if I ever want to get my own restaurant.

I stood up as the bell rang and immediately walked out the door, only to be stopped by Naveen.

"What is it this time, Naveen?" I groaned. "You're supposed to be my guide for the week, remember?"

I sighed and started helping him to his next class. "Fine."

He grinned and wrapped an arm around me. "So, how do we get to choir from here?"

I pushed his arm off. "This way." He seemed a little confused at what had happened. He had the dumbest look on his face.

"What?" I grinned. "Never been rejected by a girl before?"

He quickly regained his composure. "No, and that wasn't rejection, that was a reaction from a girl who has never experienced interest from a guy."

I glared at him and walked ahead so that he had to run to catch up.

"I'm sorry," he apologized. I huffed. "Bet that's the first time those words have ever left your silver spoon fed mouth."

He tilted his head at me. "I do not know what that means."

"It means that you're a rich boy who's never had to have manners," I explained. "I bet you've never done anything in your life, sitting around eating off of a silver plate."

"We do not have silver plates, we have gold plates," he corrected and I rolled my eyes. Even worse.

"And I do things!" He continued defensively. I raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh yeah? Like what?"

"I play my guitar, and I sing." I laughed at him. "Is that all?"

"Uh, no," he lied. I walked into the choir room and was appalled that he sat next to me.

"Who's the cutie?" Elsa teased and sat on the other side of me.

"I am Prince Naveen of Maldonia!" He declared. "It is a pleasure to meet you. What is your name?" I rolled my eyes at him as he shamelessly flirted.

"Back it up, genius, she's taken," Jack laughed taking a seat next to Elsa.

"My apologies," Naveen said. "I did not mean to flirt with your girlfriend, she is very beautiful."

"He's not-" "She's not-" They laughed at their awkwardness and blushed.

"They're not dating, Naveen, they're best friends. That's all." Naveen raised an eyebrow at them.

"Oh, really, it does not seem that you two are simply friends. There is something else here." I hit him on the shoulder.

"Don't say that! She has a boyfriend," I jumped. "And what about him?"

"Naveen-" I tried to stop him but Jack laughed. "No, no, it's okay. I was dating someone, but we broke up recently. We both have feelings for someone else." He blushed, realizing he'd said too much.

"And he won't tell me who this other person is!" Elsa huffed and crossed her arms. "I could totally help you and her go out!"

"No you couldn't, Elsa," he sighed. "Trust me."

"Jackson Overland Frost, are you doubting me? Is it because I'm a girl? I know you would not-"

We laughed as he clamped a hand over her mouth as Miss Mary Poppins walked in. She walked with wonderful posture and talked with a strong British accent some of the boys made fun of.

"Hello, students! I see we have someone new in our presence?"

Everyone turned to Naveen and he nodded. "Please introduce yourself." He stood up with confidence and said his introduction before sitting again.

"Are you a Bass, or Tenor?" Naveen looked at her dumbfounded and all the girls giggled.

"I'm sorry," he apologized. "I do not know what those are.I have never been in a choir."

"That's quite alright," she comforted. "Why don't you sing something for the class so I may know how to place you?"

Naveen quickly stood up and confidently strutted to the front.

All the girls swooned as Naveen started singing a tune everyone recognized.

"When your legs don't work like they used to before, and I can't sweep you off of your feet. Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love? Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?"

One girl fainted as he winked at her but I just rolled my eyes. He was a good singer, but I wasn't going to fall for him.

"And, darling, I will be loving you 'til we're seventy. And, baby, my heart could still fall as hard at twenty-three."

"And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways. Maybe just the touch of a hand. Well, me- I fall in love with you every single day, and I just wanna tell you I am."

"So honey now, take me into your loving arms. Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars. Place your hand on my beating heart. I'm thinking out loud. Maybe we found love right where we are."

Elsa and I laughed as Vidia and her minions in the back clapped enthusiastically for Naveen.

"That was wonderful, Mr. Naveen," Mrs. Poppins congratulated.

"That wasn't just wonderful, that was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!" We all turned our heads to the door as a certain janitor waltzed in.

"Why, hello Bert," our teacher smiled at him. He nodded back," Hello, Mary."

"Thank you," Naveen said uncomfortably and sat down. He clearly did not want to be there while they chatted.

"That was amazing, Naveen," Elsa smiled. "Frost, that was cool!" Jack exclaimed, fist bumping him.

"What do you think Tiana?" Elsa and Jack grinned at me. "My singing is good, no?" Naveen smirked at me.

"It's good," I gave him a small smile. "It could use some work though."

Naveen frowned at me and Jack laughed. "Don't listen to Tia, she's sassy."

"You and Jack should get along," I told them. "You both apparently like to have fun. Jack is the Guardian of Fun."

"Yep, that's me, Jack Frost," he grinned. "Well then, that is good. Fun is great, yes?"

Jack and Elsa nodded but I shook my head. "I ain't got time for fun, I've gotta work really hard to get my restaurant."

"Here we go again," Jack sighed.

"Now, listen here, Mister, that is my dream and I will not stop until I get there," I crossed my arms.

"What is your dream?" Naveen asked me.

"I want, more than anything in this whole wide world, to have my own restaurant. I work every day at Buford's Diner and save my tips so I can buy that old sugar mill downtown. I'm gonna buy it, and I'm gonna call it, 'Tiana's Place'."

I looked at them to see Jack had mouthed my speech and I hit him over the head. "Ouch," he laughed.

Naveen didn't say anything, he just looked at me in wonder. I turned away to avoid his gaze. No one had ever looked at me like that.

I saw Elsa wink at me and I blushed, though she couldn't see it because of my skin color.

"That is a very beautiful dream." I turned to Naveen. "What's your dream?" I asked him.

He shrugged, "I do not have one. I have been handed everything, but now my parents made me come to school. I am broke."

"How are you broke if your a Prince?" Elsa furrowed her eyebrows.

"I blew a lot of money on parties, my parents cut me off for being a...how do you say it?"

"A leech?" I suggested. "Yes, a leech that takes money! Although, I did throw some good parties with some very beautiful women," he grinned.

Elsa and I rolled out eyes, we were so done with boys treating girls that way. We completely agreed with Megara's point that we weren't useless dolls.

Jack surprised us by asking Naveen if he liked red heads. "Why, yes I do! I have met many, many red heads in Maldonia. All of whom were quite smitten," he smirked.

"Then you ought to like the English teacher," Jack grinned.

"Oh gosh, leave that poor woman alone!" I groaned. "Who is this woman?" Naveen asked slyly.

"Mrs. Jessica Rabbit," Elsa sighed. "Everybody knows her, all the guys love her."

"I take it she is very beautiful, no?" Jack grinned and nodded.

"And married," Elsa and I pointed out, making Naveen frown. "I do not flirt with married women," he smirked. "Unless they are exceptional."

Ariel overheard us and said, "Yes, she is. She has the perfect body and she's very pretty. But I'll have you know she's tired of making guys feel this way so you should do her a favor and back off."

"Oh, feisty red head, nice!" Naveen winked at her. "She's also dating Eric," Jack coughed.

"Is there any girl here who is not dating someone?" Naveen stressed. "Tiana."

I glared at Elsa and she smiled at me innocently. "You are single?" Naveen laughed. "What's so funny?" I glared at him.

"Of course you are single! You are no fun!" I clenched my teeth and put my hands on my hips.

"At least I'm not some no-count, polandering, lazy bump on a log," I shot back.

"Ha! Well, the egg is on your face because I have no idea what that means!" He smirked at me and I put my hands on my face.

"Idiot," I mumbled. I turned to Elsa while the boys talked about some stupid parties.

"He's kind of cute," Elsa commented. "Elsa! You're dating Tadashi," I reminded her.

"Not for me," she laughed. "He's cute for you."

"For me?" I gaped at her. "Oh no, no, no, I could never like this player! He is absolutely the worst!"

"Maybe, deep down, he's a sweet and hardworking guy?"

I gave her a 'really' look and she sighed. "Fine, Tiana, I won't bother you about it. But still-"

I cut her off. "So, what about Jack, who do you think he likes?" She shrugged. "I don't know, it could be anyone."

"What about that secret admirer thing, how that going?" She blushed a deep red and whispered, "Keep it down! And I don't know."

"What if it's Jack?" I suggested. "No!" She looked at me appalled. "It couldn't be him! He doesn't like me that way!"

"You never know," I laughed.

Elsa's POV

My heart skipped a beat when Tiana suggested it could be Jack. What if it was? No, Elsa, don't think that way.

But he did say he had feelings for someone else. Stop it.

What if that someone is me? Stop. He knows you have Tadashi, and why would he break up with Rapunzel for you?

I really need to stop talking to myself. Oh, well. Naveen had mentioned it. Maybe he saw something I didn't?

Jack's POV

"So," Naveen started. "Do you like Elsa?" I almost spit out my drink all over everyone at our table.

"What? No, I don't, that preposterous!" I winced at that word. I used big vocabulary when I got nervous.

However, Naveen didn't know that. Thank Frost.

"He doesn't like her," Peter said. "He loves her," he smirked and I sighed.
Still trying to cover up, I said, "In a brotherly way."

"So, what you're getting at is you believe in incest?" I widened my eyes at Hiccup.

"Of course not, stupid! Stop saying ignorant things!" I almost screamed. "Ignorant? Wow, nice case of lying ya got there," Peter grinned.

"Jack says big words when he lies?" Naveen smirked.

"No, I say big words when I get nervous," I groaned. "If I say it will you boys get off my back?"

They all nodded at me and I looked up at Naveen. "I like her, there. Now another person knows."

"You did not have to admit it to me," he smirked. "Aladdin already told me."

I glared at the both of them and shoved my chilly pizza into my mouth. They all winced as I made a loud crunching sound.

"What?" I looked at all of them. "How do you eat that? It's frozen," Hercules asked in disgust.

"I'm the Spirit of Winter and that's your question?" I took another bite and grinned as they winced at the loud sounds.

"I have a question, Frost." I raised an eyebrow at Peter. "How did Rapunzel stand to kiss ya?"

I smirked, "I'm too hot to have cold lips." They all rolled their eyes ready for the real answer.

"I don't know," I shrugged. "I guess she just...dealt with it?"

"Probably," he shrugged back. "Besides, you're not hot, Jack. You've got some big ears."

"I do not!" I growled. "Please," Aladdin laughed. "You could practically fly away on those things!"

"Monkey Boy, Dragon Lover, Adonis, Tights, and I don't know you well enough to call you something." I pointed at Naveen.

"Adonis is my brother," Hercules groaned. "I do love dragons," Hiccup shrugged.

"I have Abu," Aladdin grinned. "And hey, that was a phase," Peter defended.

"Anyways, enough about me," I took the topic off of my ears. They're not big, I swear.

"What about you, Naveen? Got your eye on anyone special?"

He shook his head and winked. "Not anyone special." I realized he didn't feel like talking about it with the other boys, so I kept it secret.

"Blech with wings at twelve o'clock," Aladdin coughed and we all turned our gaze to Vidia.

"Hello, boys," she smiled at us. "Anyone sitting here?" She motioned to the seat next to Naveen and he shook his head before I could say no.

She sat down and grinned at him. "So, you're a prince?"

"Yes, I am Prince Naveen of Maldonia," he smiled politely. I was worried of what he was getting into.

"Well, my name is Vidia, and I think you're pretty cute," she smirked at him slyly and he seemed a bit taken aback.

"Sorry, I have my eyes on someone else," he told her nervously.

"Who?" She demanded. "No one." His eyes briefly shifted to Tiana who was a few tables away. She noticed his glance and raised an eyebrow.

"The waitress?" She laughed. "But she's so plain and she doesn't like to have any fun anyways."

"She is not plain, she is more beautiful than a thousand suns, and more beautiful than you will ever be," he glared at her angrily.

She stood up and furiously stormed away from the table. We all looked at Naveen and laughed.

"So, you and Tiana?" Hercules grinned.
"What, uh, no, of course not. Me? Like someone? Pfft, no."

"Give it up, we all like someone," I motioned to the group. "We're a circle. We won't tell. Besides, I already know."

"Who do you like then?" He asked bravely. "Merida, Megara, Elsa, Wendy, Jasmine." I motioned around the table before anyone could object.

"Fine then, I do like the waitress. Just a little. She is a killjoy," he admitted.

We all took turns elbowing and poking him playfully and he swatted our  hands away. "You have officially joined our table," I laughed.

"No way, he should show us something cool first," Peter argued. "Like something special."

"Special? Like what?" Naveen wondered.

"I'm strong, Hiccup trains dragons, Peter can fly with pixie dust and he's good with a sword, Jack controls ice, he can also fly, and Aladdin, he can steal stuff," Hercules explained.

"I'm good with the ladies," Naveen grinned.

"I'm a God to them." "They think I'm just too cool." "A lot of girls get jealous when they're around me."

Naveen frowned. "C'mon, there's gotta be something you're good at besides getting girls," I laughed.

"I can play the ukulele," he shrugged.
"Do you have it with you?"

"Yes," he pulled it out of his backpack. He strummed it and sang a short song.

"I have a dream, I hope will come true. You're here with me and I'm here with you. I wish that the earth, sea, the sky up above, will send me someone to lava."

We all applauded him and everyone looked at Peter. "What?"

"Was that cool enough for you?" Hiccup laughed. "Yeah, it was, welcome to the Lost Boys club," he grinned.

"So, these things you boys do, I would like to see them," he told us. "They sound...fascinating."

"Tink gave me a little pixie dust, just in case I need it," Peter said, sprinkling some on his chicken nuggets.

They began to float and he stood up and caught them in his mouth.

"Ashidanza!" Naveen exclaimed. "That means amazing in my country."

Hercules reached under Naveen's chair and lifted him up with one finger. Naveen grinned widely and motioned to Hiccup who pulled out a video of him flying on Toothless.

"Dragons?! Faldonza!" He looked to Aladdin who said, "Name something, I'll steal it...and put it back," he added.

"How about...her apple?" He pointed to
Alice's fruit halfway across the cafeteria.

"Too easy!" Aladdin laughed and calmly walked over to the table, plucking it off of her tray and bringing it back without so much as a glance from the girls.

"Very good," Naveen complimented. "Jack?" Everyone looked at me and I grinned.

I gripped my staff and covered the whole table in frost, making the surface slick. "Wow," he smiled at all of us. "You all make me feel so...plain!"

"Don't doubt yourself, bud, you've got more charisma than Jack, Hercules, and Peter combined," Hiccup said while attempting to draw my frost patterns.

Naveen grinned at us. "So, anyone like pizza?"
