~Chapter 13~
I am so incredibly sorry I haven't been updating lately. I don't even have a good excuse that you haven't heard but I am deeply sorry for all the wait I've caused. I made this chapter a little longer to make up a little but I'll try to make it up somehow.
Please forgive me for my incompetence and neglect of a proper schedule. Enjoy the chapter!
~Bug-Chan
You hadn't left the hotel once outside of work. As your situation currently had it, you could only be two places safely. The studio and the apartment. You were too emotional to go anywhere else safely. Who knows what would happen next time you snapped?
Upon arriving back at the hotel after your blow-up, Flowey was all but eager to inform you of your uninvited visitor. As you entered the your bedroom, unstable and ready to collapse from emotional drain, Flowey gladly weighed you further with the information that Sans, as you'd expected, now held Snowflake as prime witness to the disappearance of (Y/N). All that work to gain trust gone to waste.
Not that the night had been an entire waste.

"Darling! I hear you breathing ya know! Open up!" Mettaton ordered, trying to fight his way through a door pinned closed by you and a dresser.
"Not right now Mettaton." You said. "I don't feel well."
"Sorry dear but there's no sick days for stars! I'm coming in"
"Mettaton don't-"
Your words meant nothing to the loud robot as you found yourself sailing towards the wall. The dresser stood no match for an excited Metta. You braced for impact, but were stopped midair as metal arms coiled around you. In a sharp snap of his arm, you sat on your bed facing Mettaton in his more refined form. "Oh, your body is fixed..." You hummed. "Congratulations."
"Thank you! I do look rather beautiful don't I? But that aside, I have exciting news for you!" He gushed, pink eyes wide with anticipation. You sighed, pushing away your turmoil and smiling in a small, cute way.
"What happened Mettaton?" You asked gently.
"You, my little frostbite, have taken the interest of a very important person." He hinted ominously. "He's become enthralled by your unique performances and plans to attend this Friday's show! Isn't it exciting?! And of such high class too! You are a true talent to have gotten him."
"Mettaton? Who is 'he?'" You asked, a small snicker escaping your mouth.
"Oh, dear me I forgot to tell you his name. This Friday, our show will have the very King of our Underground, Asgore Dremmur in our audience!"
Your eyes widened and your mouth hung open. "The King is coming to watch us perform?"
"Not us Snowflake. Asgore is coming to watch you perform."
You were quiet for a bit, worrying about how he might affect your plans. However, Mettaton waited patiently with a broad smile, anticipating a grand reaction. You glanced at his hopeful gaze and recovered from your panicked lapse, smiling and standing. Clapping your hands together, you feigned giddy joy. "I can't believe he's coming to see my performance! This is fantastic!" You gushed.
"That's the spirit beauty! But know that this means you'll have to perfect your show before he arrives. I've extended your work an extra hour per day so that we can fix every small detail of your act. It must be perfect!"
You nodded. "Yeah, that's fine with mine."
Mettaton wrapped his arms around you in a choking embrace. "I'm glad to hear you say that." He hummed, releasing you to arm's length so he could look at you. "Though it isn't like I was going to give you a choice."
He laughed loudly and you joined. Turning his back, he marched to the door and whipped around to look at you. "Get some rest Snowflake. You're going to have quite the day tomorrow!"
"Alright Mettaton. Goodnight." You bowed before he left with a flashing grin and a wave.
The door closed gently behind him and Flowey appeared looking unamused. "You're seriously just gonna go along with this? Do you know how risky it will be to have the King so close?"
You rolled your eyes, locking the door so you could remove your wig in peace. "If I just said no I would have looked suspicious. A monster like Snowflake would react like I just did."
"But the risk is a little high is it not?" He droned on, looking aggravated with you.
You raised a brow as you changed into a loose t-shirt for bed. "Flowey I'm currently trying to assert myself among my old friends while at the same time make them move on from me. My entire life is a risk as it stands anyway. Besides, after that blowup of mine with Frisk and Gaster!Sans I can't really afford to act as I would. Right now it's all Snowflake and what she would do."
He rolled his eyes and huffed, crossing his leaves and trying to look irritated. His small flower body wasn't exactly making that easy. "What are you even going to do about bonehead anyway? He's getting snoopy with your stuff."
You crawled under your sheets, looking at Flowey as you curled beneath the soft, warm layers. "I just can't let him find my stuff, and since it's hidden in my closet it should be easier. If I need to I'll move it around so he won't expect where to look."
Flowey raised his own brow, seeming unconvinced. "I still say we should bury it."
You glared at him and shook your head. "Just because I'm leaving that life behind doesn't mean I want to forget it. Completely getting rid of them feels wrong to me." You whispered.
Flowey sighed and crawled into his pot on the nightstand. "Whatever. We can talk in the morning." He grumbled. "When you can think more logically."
You stuck your tongue out at him, turning your back to him with a sigh. Silence fell heavy in the room and you stared into dark, thoughts echoing in your head. You kept coming back to the same spot. That seemed to be the theme lately with your thoughts. It was like a boomerang, always swinging back.
They don't trust me anymore...
Your face was solemn as you sighed, trying to solve the conundrum in your head.
Snowflake isn't trustworthy anymore. If anything I've become more suspicious than when I first showed up. What am I gonna do when they start questioning me? I can't keep up Snowflake forever, but I can't exactly pass the barrier by myself either. I'm stuck here unless I kill a monster, or unless a monster kills me...
Your eyes widened slightly as the cruel truth hit you in the face.
I'm fated to either burn in hell or die here if I want to disappear...
Your heart sank slightly, but you couldn't help but laugh. "What's so funny?" Flowey asked, peering at you.
You waved dismissively at him, shaking your head. "It's nothing." You lied.
Might as well get it over with...

You flopped on to your bed with a heavy sigh, limb heavy with drowsiness. Flowey didn't bother to ask about your day, knowing it had been the exact same as the three days prior. You were exhausted, but that wasn't why you were so tired. Keeping up the optimistic, smiling persona of morning person, little miss Sunshine Snowflake was doing a huge number on your true 'fuck the world' attitude. Who knew smiling was so much work?
It was Wednesday, two days away from the performance with the King. Since learning of Asgore's visit, Mettaton had cut his programs down to News only so he could devote his time to the Friday program. As a result you were being worked down to the bone. A small laugh escaped at the pun you'd made. Flowey didn't bother asking, knowing you wouldn't admit to whatever you were thinking. Apparently flowers had more common sense than to keep pressing for details. "Go to bed already." He instructed. "You can get a shower in the morning, but you need to go to bed early so you're not so tired tomorrow. We need to talk after you get back."
You looked at him curiously but he shook his head. "Tomorrow. I still need to work out the details." He said shortly.
Shrugging, you changed into pajamas and laid down. You still hadn't told Flowey about your plan you'd formulated a few nights back, but you didn't feel he'd like to know in the first place. "Goodnight Moody~" You chirped.
"Whatever...."
Your eyes closed gently and you surrendered to your heavy conscious and let sleep pull you under. As per usual, all you could see was a blank space void of gravity when you slept. You floated uselessly, watching the never changing expanse around you. Sometimes there was a glimpse of a memory, or a hopeful dream, but they were rare.
You closed your eyes and drifted, thinking.
This will work. It has to work.
You encouraged yourself, trying to reassure yourself of your course.
Soon everything will be fixed. It's just one fight, then I'm free! Easy! Flowey would definitely be pissed off that I didn't tell him, but he'll live.
Blue light tickled at your eyelids and you jumped up. Looking around you, you found nothing. "What the hell..." You grumbled.
"here..." a ghostly tone whispered, golden hue radiating from behind you. Turning slowly, you gazed at two familiar forms. You couldn't tell who they were, but you recognized them to some degree. On the right stood a figure cloaked in blue, a soft shade that almost seemed to shift yellow at certain points. To her right stood another figure that faced you, this one in golden hues. They were so similar, if they'd been the same color you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Why were they so familiar though?
"Who are you?" You asked defensively. "Why are you in my head?"
"You know us, (Y/N). You just neglect us." The golden one said confidently. "We come to you now before you make a choice you may not go back upon."
Your brow furrowed. "Who exactly are you? How do you know anything about what I'm going to do?"
"Have you really become so blind," The blue one asked, "that you've now lost sights of your own fates?"
"Fates..." you pondered, trying to summon some recollection of the two. Their colors definitely flipped some switch, but why? "My fate?"
Blue nodded, sighing as she looked at you. "Come here (Y/N), allow me to show you."
You hesitated, unsure of her, but you left no choice as something forced you forward. Stumbling over your feet, you crashed into her and gasped. Upon contact, the memory of another dream came to surface. You didn't understand it then, but looking at it now it made more sense.
Once upon months ago, you had a dream where to figures approached you. A golden woman, face clouded in mist, presented a life in which you remained in your trap. A woman in blue, face veiled from view, represented a fate where you returned and left love behind for what you already knew. Two fates crafted from two different worlds, two fates. Two versions of you?
Stumbling back, you looked at the two in awe. Their faces came into a clear focus, exact replicas of your own. They looked down at you, amusement in their grins. "Hey there me." Gold chirped. "For a smart girl you sure have no common sense."
"Seconded." Blue agreed. "You're clueless."
You scoffed, brushing off yourself as you stood. "Whatever! You're me too!"
"Correction: we are copies of you manifested by your mind for the purpose of convincing of a truth you've been rejecting." Blue informed you.
You growled and rolled yours eyes, facing the two. "Why are you here?" You asked bluntly. "Why am I trying to convince myself against myself?"
They snickered at my wording before taking on a stoic and serious stature. "(Y/N). We all know what you plan to do Friday so that you may disappear from the Underground. In truth, while it may seem like a good idea, this has honestly been the most stupid thing you've ever done." Gold was as blunt as you expected, but you still took offense.
"You're trying to create another fate that isn't possible." Blue started, taking off directly from Gold. "In an attempt to 'make everyone happy' you've convinced yourself you need to disappear. Well, (Y/N) has disappeared from their lives, but you're not satisfied and want to replace yourself with yourself. Trying to avoid your two fates is resulting in a cycle that only results in pain! Not only to you but to those around you!"
"They'l-" You started.
"They'll be better off without you?" Blue asked. "Just because it's said doesn't mean it's true. You and I both know people want you back home."
"Or back in their arms." Gold added, "and helping them put the first ever pacifist run in order."
Gold represented the future here.
Blue represented the future at Home.
So what do I represent?
"Some people want things that are bad for them." You growled. "I can't believe my own mind is arguing me on this!"
"Because you know you're wrong!" They snapped in unison.
"Because I'm right and my subconscious is scared of that!" You yelled.
"If you were right then why hasn't he given up!" Gold retorted.
"And why has everyone pooled together for you at home?" Blue asked.
"Why is it that so many have shed tears at the thought of loosing you?!" They spoke in unison, looming over you in an intimidating manner. None the less, you stood your ground and braved against them.
"People cry because I hurt them. We all know that to solve an issue, you must find the source of the conflict and correct it. I caused turmoil across two dimensions. My disappearance from their lives ultimately benefits them!"
"They care about you!"
"They were tricked into caring! I even tricked myself into thinking I was worth the time!" You roared, fist clutched tight. "The two of you are the product of a guilty and fearful subconscious reaction occurring within the depths of my head, desperately trying to get me to abort my mission for when Asgore arrives. Well guess what! I'm a scientist! I know exactly what is going on and I can tell for sure what I'm doing is for the best."
"Who's best?" A new voice asked, gentle and sweet like white sugar.
You jumped, the two forms before you dissolving away as a bright light blinded you. You moved your arms over your face until the glare cleared, then looked up at the new comer. She sat before you, sitting in a traditional Japanese manner. Her head was bowed, hiding her face in a sheet of silvery white. Pale hands with claw-like hands sat folded in her lap as she laughed gentle. It seemed shaky.
"Who are you really doing this for?" She asked. "I know who better than anyone (Y/N). You made me the way I am. Understanding of others, and their feelings as well. You can't escape your own creations design..."
You took a step back, gazing cautiously at the porcelain white of the fragile girl. A halo about her seemed to make her body look fuzzy, but she seemed so familiar. "Who are you?" You asked. "You don't look like the other two."
"Who are you doing this for?" She asked, ignoring your inquiry. "Was it Sans back home? Did you think he would rather loose his closest friend, the one who was able to rejoin him with his father, because she was a little broken?"
You shuddered. "W-What?! No! I just... he's better-"
"What about the other friends you have there? Or your family? Are you convinced they really hate you because you did what would be best for your last remaining family?" She droned on, never raising her head, only her tone. "Was it the fear of Frisk's nonexistent disappointment? Or that you feared being useless here where they didn't have a clue what you'd done? Are you afraid of that clean sleight?"
"S-Shut up..." you stuttered. "You don't even know what you're talking about..."
Her voice grew loud and hiss-like. Wet droplets splashing on her frail hands. "Or maybe you're afraid that just maybe you could attach yourself to someone? You're afraid that the moment you accept that you're worth what you've been blessed with that it'll as disappear. I know that's the truth (Y/N)!!! So tell me won't you?! WHO ARE YOU REALLY DOING ALL OF THIS FOR?! Because all we've done is brought sadness and worry to the people we care about so it sure isn't them! Who are you running away from?!" She yelled.
Red-faced and stunned, you didn't notice the numb tears that slid over your cheeks. "Who are you..." You asked, unable to answer her question.
"I am exactly who you made me to be. An inspiration. A friend. Another choice..."
She turned her face upwards and you gasped. Your eyes fell shut for a mere moment and she was gone, replaced by glowing stars that decorated your ceiling. Your face was sticky with tears as you shot upwards, breathing heavily to try and compose yourself. "Snowflake...." You shuddered, voice cracking. Her words echoed through your head, confusing you as well as sending you into a deep hole.
"Who are you doing this for?"
Who am I doing this for?
